O.K. How about an internal key on the lathe... I have in 1/16ths up to 3/8 in broaches but I had to make a 7/8" internal in a sprocket one time... Can you guess how I did it?
Nice idea. If you wanted you could use it to drill the shaft by putting a drill in the lathe chuck/spindel. Just incase you wanted to cross drill it for any reason.
These are the things I want to do in my shop, and because there are no schools here for machining, I learn through observing then practice...thie works for me.
Just a reminder to any of you fellas who may want to copy this jig, make sure you remove the fixture from the lathe as he did before doing any welding. The weld will try to gound through you your spindle bearings and the little arcs will ruin them.
