To all you Democratic who were for the other candidates.....go vote for Ron Paul and support him. Not for Hillary and not for Obama. Definitely not Hillary!
Hillary made a huge blunder when she voted for the war in Iraq. It was a lapse in judgment and she shouldn't have played politics. None of these guys should have. But most politicians play the game. She's being singled out primarily because she's a woman. Nevertheless Hillary has done some good and I think she is well-intentioned for the most part. The problem is the public and the media needs to stop politics as well. The reason politicians do these things is because of the media.
It's all a conspiracy...just think about it. You have a women running 4 president 4 the first time and an African American running 4 the first time too. The media focus mainly on them....The other Democratic candidates are highly more intelligent and during their speeches they make more sense. Now the media doesn't want you 2 know about the other candidates because they want those 2 to go up against John McCain..and who well most likely to win? John McCain.
This is what I've been thinking all along too. If the presidential race were to actually be based on their stances and plans to change our country, instead of vague sound bites and personal attacks, then Mike Gravel would be leading by a longshot.

MIKE GRAVEL ENDED THE DRAFT AND WHEN HE'S ELECTED THIS ISSUE WILL NEVER COME UP AGAIN, THIS WILL BE A PEACEFUL NATION
Regardless of how any of you feel about the war in Iraq, we are there. To pull out now would be an utter disaster and embarrassment. The fact is that 3/4 of the nation agreed with the decision to go in there and now when the going gets tough, we wanna bail. That's the typical American attitude: Do what feels good and avoid controversy at all costs. Give me a break.
They said the same thing about Vietnam, and it didn't hold true then either.
The vast majority of Iraqis want us out, yet we know better about what is good for them? That is the embarassment. A country supposedly ruled by the people, yes, I'm speaking of the US, is ignoring the will of the people in the US, in Iraq, and in the world as a whole. To me that is an embarassment.
If the Iraqi's wanted us there, then maybe that would be a different story, but they don't want us there. A lot of the current "insurgency" is there only because we are. They view us as invaders because we are an imperialistic nation and staying there unwelcome. Ask yourself, if some country did that in the US wouldn't there be an "insurgency" here too?
Not to mention, his saying we should bring the troops home immediately is causing more controversy than any other candidates stance on either side, so don't try and shove this off as "do what feels good and avoid controversy at all costs."
This so-called "moral" man is an idiot. We took the war to their doorstep before they could bring it to ours. Would he rather the roadside bombs be going off here in the U.S.
suuure, in fact it was stated repeatedly yet covertly that osama actually wanted the invasion, because they could fight the troops on their home ground. Not only would the US loose(you fight the population), they'de gain additional terrorists due to the desparity and anger. It was all for oil.
Sorry, but your the idiot. 'Their' doorstep. Tell me, how many Iraqi's were involved in 9/11. I bet you want to bomb Iran too huh? Same question. Your actions have INCREASED the likelyhood of another attack on America. Fact.
that's right! If we hadn't have toppled the iraqi government, they would have been all over us, bombing us, or sending us aid. Wait a minute, saddaam offered us aid after 9/11. Never mind.
Do you really think Al Qaeda was ever/is ever going to start a war within the U.S.? With what troops? We stood up the Soviet Union when they had three times as many nuclear weapons as we did and they crumbled. Do you really think that some little third world country is going to try to fight us on our soil?
It's my understanding that the Soviets never had near the nuclear weapons the US did. The Pentagon was "cooking the books" back then so they could heat up the Cold War, good for defense contractors. It's so disgusting how most heavily armed nation in world pretended to be afraid of a broken country (10 to 12 years of sanctions) like Iraq.
this guy has balls. the only candidate that doesnt take corporate contributions, (why hes not a frontrunner) and isnt afraid to tell the people what he thinks straight up. this guy is very straight forward.
Yes he does..Bush's and the Democrats' war and fails to indict the Republicans also responsible. I realize it was his agenda to deride the other candidates, but the wording of that sentence is inflammatory.
And I say all of that to say this, that the Senate didnt even have to bring the resolution up in the first place, but they chose to put politics before peoples lives and as a result it backfired, because the Dems lost control of the Senate anyway and more congressional seats. Now you expect any of these people who cause this problem, now are going to fix it! Stop and think.
I am not naive,my friend. I still think it was misleading for him to say what he did.
There is a lot more to what has gone on than who held a weak majority and for how many months at a time they held it,starting with the Patriot Act. To shove the blame off onto either party is a mistake.
Its not misleading it called the truth. Im am not nor is Gravel saying the Republinazis are blameless. The are lock and step nazis with Bush Co. But to say that Dems are blameless and didnt know what was going on is false. The two sets of intell that was floating around at the time was enough to raise reasonable doubt. 23 dem senators voted against it.
I commented because I dislike the way Gravel went after just the Democrats. Had he said," It may be Bush's war,but members of both parties share the blame",I would have no gripe.
I realize that politics is the game and distancing himself from the others is the goal, but i didn't like it,and said so.
You are certainly as entitled to your view on this as I am on mine.
Thats all well and good, but the Dems are the ones who were on that stage at that point and not Repubs. And from them to be only that stage and say they are anti war, but their actions prove other wise. Gravel is calling out on that. Like what is said or not, look for the truth in the statement, not whether someones fealings were hurt.
Oh yes you can say its a Dem war as well, remember Dems were in the majority in the Senate in 2002. They controlled what legislation came up for debate.
From 6/01 to 11/02 and only because Jeffords switched parties from R to I.
Hardly definitive control, but that was never my point.
My original comment was made because it pissed me off that he called it "Bush's war" and the "Democrats' war too"...falsely leaving the Republicans in Congress out of the equation entirely.
He wasnt leaving the nazis out of the equation. He was saying that the Dems were in control of the Senate at that time, meaning that they control what bills get to the floor, or the agenda. They helped give Bush a blank check on this. Biden and Edwards help to draft this resol up, and Edwards was on the intell com then. Those are the facts, like or not, so before you think about voting for one of them, just remember the 3700 troops who are dead now, in part because of there poor judgement.
And furthermore whether the Dems had a weak majority is not the point. The point is they had the majority and controlled what was brought up on the calendar. This was never even debated in the houses. No one wants to take responsibility thats the problem, whose fault is this then. Senate & congress makes laws, not us.
Yes I do because there was no credible evidence to suggest that Saddam had a active WMD program operating. Hans Blix was there inspecting. Scott Ritter's report was out by then, and Joe Wilson's conclusion on yellow cake was out. So yes the Dems could have kept from going further.
Will the U.S. be saved by former Alaska Senator Mike Gravel, do you really think he can dot it ... maybe on this issue he could put us on the right track?
If you HUNGER TO REALLY know more about how to be a genuine independent and "vote different", then:

Go to face book and vote for gravel on their pole. If you don't have an account just sign up so you can vote. For every vote facebook donates to his campaign. Thanks!
i went there and the people that they wanted to hear the most from according to that pole is the people that got to talk the most im glad gravel was second but come on wtf
Thanks To You For ANOTHER Informative video Of Mike Gravel, that makes sense and it to the point. I wish You well, I see Gravel and Paul are Truly Concerned for Our great Country.
Mike Gravel and Ron Paul would Make a GREAT Running Team!!! A Truly Bi-Partisan Team ;-)
"The Democrats have a genuinely great candidate in Mike Gravel, but aren't paying much attention to him. Its really sad, because it shows what a popularity contest this election has become."
The Democrats have a genuinely great candidate in Mike Gravel, but aren't paying much attention to him. Its really sad, because it shows what a popularity contest this election has become.
Do You SEE THE Other Canidates, Looking at Mike With awe, and at full attention, except the 2 front runners, The truth is very often compelling.and easy to tell, just hard to decide to tell.
Where did your heart felt resons for getting into the Media Go??
If people would stop reacting from their party line and really look at this man, they'll see a very rare thing: an honest politician. I respect the hell out of him even though we disagree on some major issues.
He's a good candidate, as far as dems go, but Ron Paul has more support and has a better chance of bringing back integrity to the white house in 2008.
There's something to be said about honesty...but he's just not as bright as Biden or Obama...and everyone knows that Hillary's "intellect" or "experience" is nothing more than sloganeering and well articulated talking points.
For me, Paul has intuitive appeal but when it comes to the issues it's pretty obvious to me that he (like Dennis Kucinich) is a one-issue candidate. Paul seems to think that less government intervention will be a cure all to everything from health care to foreign relations. I generally agree with the principle (I'm a libertarian), but his "solution" is simple-minded and simply not intellectually nuanced enough to make him a viable candidate for president.
YES! YES! YES! I have waited for a candidate like this to come along. I know he doesn't have a chance in the election because most people are freaked out by his brutal honesty, but thank god we have someone who will speak the truth at these crummy debates!
Got to spread the word. These debates are his only platform to the people, and the corporate news won't even give him time. Not enough sex appeal I guess.
The guy speaks the truth..to hell with Hillary and Obama...if Gravel himself can end the draft in 1971 as a Senator then why can't Hillary and Obama end the Iraqi War now as Senator?
Two candidates who voted to authorize the war in Iraq (Hillary and Edwards) now plan to team up probably against the real anti-war candidates (Obama, Biden, Gravel and Kucinich) whom she says are insignificant.
Scheming Hillary is clearly only concerned about winning.
blogs.abcnews. com / politicalradar / 2007/07/caught-on-tape- .
The two sets of evidence that was presented. One being that saddam had wmds and the other, the truth, that saddam was not a threat. These politicians knew what they were doing when they facilitated the war, democrats included. Its only about the oil and the domination of the middle east.
The Congress with sufficient resolve and the strength of leadership can enact this law to withdraw American forces from Iraq within 120 days. Violation of this law would cause the President, the Vice-President, Secretary of Defense and the Secretary of the Treasury to commit a felony, setting the stage for their immediate impeachment and prosecution.
You have trouble providing you're own health care? yet you're for keeping it all the same yet even worse you're for the government not interveneing at All when it comes to price gougeing? what an imbecile.
4 people in a room. 3 of them have plates full of food. the liberal would shair some. the republican would take what the liberal shaired. the liberterian would sit and eat his food without thinking of any of the other 3.
you're just contradicting yourself left and right. I suppose you're against unions as well. So no police. No army. No Fire dept. Maybe if this were 1820 your ideas would be considerable but with cities and markets comes corruption and greed which breeds unfair wages which breeds COMMUNISM. go read somthing instead of thinking you know everything.
government is representation of the public. Apperently you're for communism. Move to mexico if you want the government to have everything and you have nothing. This needs to be explained? You should spend less time running your mouth and more time learning.
America is a multi trillionaire. You're obviously poor otherwise you wouldnt be so ignorant. Why do any poor people support big business ravageing our economy. makes no sense.
If you knew someone who owed the credit card company a million dollars, would you call him a millionaire? America is 9 trillion dollars in debt (much of it to foreign investors), and if we continue to borrow money from the Chinese like this in order to fund the war and welfare state the dollar will only continue to depreciate until it collapses completely. Free healthcare is not free.
black water isnt privatized? tell that to Mr. Prince as he counts his hundreds of Millions he makes off of our taxes.
See what you fail to understand is that free health care isnt just throwing money away. It stays in our economy as oppose to going into someones pocket. You don't seem to grasp economics.
oh yea, and bounty hunters and blkackwater have worked out real well. you're a moron. You arent for democracy you're for corperatism. Thats unamerican.
"The notion of a rigid separation between church and state has no basis in either the text of the Constitution or the writings of our Founding Fathers." Written by ron paul taken from "war on religion" Research your candidate and know that Ron Paul is a plague on America.
yet the neocon is robbing us blind in order to provide money to the corporation in iraqi. you get angry at healthcare yet the largest recipent of welfare is the corporation, such as halliburton, and no one said a word about them.
Umm.. Are you saying we should privatize the police force? the army the police and the fire department is all payed for by your taxes. so then why arent doctors?
Mike Gravel will empower the people as lawmakers on a federal level, and will provide healthcare for all. Ron Paul WILL NOT provide healthcare, abolish the seperation of church and state, and will shink goverment and replace it with religious institutions. Paul is as much as a plague as bush. Vote Gravel 2008!
ron paul is against free health care. My father worked his ass off for 40 years but because he had a year befor he started to get his pension he didnt have health insurance and now hes gonna die. I hate you heartless bastards. Health care is as much a right as having police.
So you'd throw your vote away on someone just because there a democrat, any things better than Bush right?
I dont care if i knew 100% Ron Paul wouldnt win, im only gona vote for who i think is worthy of being president. An if Dr Paul doesnt win , Hillary , Obama or Guillani are still great choices , because it speeds us onto the path of the 2nd civil war.
If republicans hate him, then he must be good. I suggest everyone register Republican and vote in the 2008 primaries. We can beat them at their own game if we get enough voices in the arena. The PEOPLE still have the most power if they unite and use it wisely. Ron Paul 2008.
Hey everyone, go to eventful[dot]com and "demand" that Mike Gravel appear in your home city or close! it's very very easy! and tell as many people as you can!
thanks goodness their are still stupid people out there who still support george bush, i am surprise to seen some of the twenty eigth percent psoting comment here.
Hillary is pro war wake up people, she is going to be the "best" candidate because she has been meeting with the big wigs of media. But nothing will change with a change of party
The Oil companies sent our soldiers to Iraq to secure Iraqi oil for themselves. As far as prices, well that is a combination of greed and the cost of keeping our military in Iraq. The terrrorist's are the Oil companies.
(Pt. 1) You are saying that Bush is a fake Christian on the basis that he has taken part in the deaths of thousands of people, correct? You support this by stating he is doing it for economic gain (oil). Well, I happen to disagree with you. While many people think the President is in this war for oil, I believe that this only plays a minor role in true reason we are in the war. That reason is Israel.
(Pt. 2) Saddam Hussein was most likely planning to bomb Jerusalem and Bush used 9/11 to stop him. Now Bush is keeping troops in Iraq to maintain a presence of safety for Israel. If we redraw, there is a good chance that Iran will go to war with Israel; another threat that Bush has anticipated. Bush is a true Christian by keeping the Holy Wars away from the Holy Land, saving God's chosen people from evil.
So, uh, you draw your own conclusions and present them as plausible based on your own personal speculation? That's pretty funny. Bush is a total criminal and absolutely Godless. Of course, Israel and the US have been butt buddies for far too long. Ron Paul 2008
The war must continue to reinforce and preserve the government in Iraq as well as protect Israel from future conflict in the Middle East. If it wasn't for the United States, Saddam Hussein may have already attempted to bomb Jerusalem, something that our Christian President would never allow.

My original comment was made because it pissed me off that he called it "Bush's war" and the "Democrats' war too"...falsely leaving the Republicans in Congress out of the equation entirely.
Suz45 4 years ago
He wasnt leaving the nazis out of the equation. He was saying that the Dems were in control of the Senate at that time, meaning that they control what bills get to the floor, or the agenda. They helped give Bush a blank check on this. Biden and Edwards help to draft this resol up, and Edwards was on the intell com then. Those are the facts, like or not, so before you think about voting for one of them, just remember the 3700 troops who are dead now, in part because of there poor judgement.
truthout911 4 years ago
And in part because of Bush and company Republicans who refuse or lack the balls to come out in opposition to this corrupt administration.
Suz45 4 years ago
And furthermore whether the Dems had a weak majority is not the point. The point is they had the majority and controlled what was brought up on the calendar. This was never even debated in the houses. No one wants to take responsibility thats the problem, whose fault is this then. Senate & congress makes laws, not us.
truthout911 4 years ago
You honestly believe Dems could have kept this off the calendar? Come on now.
Suz45 4 years ago
Yes I do because there was no credible evidence to suggest that Saddam had a active WMD program operating. Hans Blix was there inspecting. Scott Ritter's report was out by then, and Joe Wilson's conclusion on yellow cake was out. So yes the Dems could have kept from going further.

Man has brass balls. I don't agree with his ideals, but he'll make a fine President because he's actually honest.

He's a good candidate, as far as dems go, but Ron Paul has more support and has a better chance of bringing back integrity to the white house in 2008.
okgreat12345 4 years ago
There's something to be said about honesty...but he's just not as bright as Biden or Obama...and everyone knows that Hillary's "intellect" or "experience" is nothing more than sloganeering and well articulated talking points.
falsificationism 4 years ago
He is very bright, he is an older man and speaks in simpler terms. He is so right on in his views. I support
Paul, but I greatly admire his honestly.
coolmamac 4 years ago
For me, Paul has intuitive appeal but when it comes to the issues it's pretty obvious to me that he (like Dennis Kucinich) is a one-issue candidate. Paul seems to think that less government intervention will be a cure all to everything from health care to foreign relations. I generally agree with the principle (I'm a libertarian), but his "solution" is simple-minded and simply not intellectually nuanced enough to make him a viable candidate for president.
falsificationism 4 years ago
YES! YES! YES! I have waited for a candidate like this to come along. I know he doesn't have a chance in the election because most people are freaked out by his brutal honesty, but thank god we have someone who will speak the truth at these crummy debates!

Iraq War Yes Duo:
Two candidates who voted to authorize the war in Iraq (Hillary and Edwards) now plan to team up probably against the real anti-war candidates (Obama, Biden, Gravel and Kucinich) whom she says are insignificant.
Scheming Hillary is clearly only concerned about winning.

WITHDRAWAL FROM IRAQ ACT
The Congress with sufficient resolve and the strength of leadership can enact this law to withdraw American forces from Iraq within 120 days. Violation of this law would cause the President, the Vice-President, Secretary of Defense and the Secretary of the Treasury to commit a felony, setting the stage for their immediate impeachment and prosecution.

If you knew someone who owed the credit card company a million dollars, would you call him a millionaire? FredrikFlintstone 4 years ago
That reason is Israel.
legolas13589 4 years ago
Bush is a true Christian by keeping the Holy Wars away from the Holy Land, saving God's chosen people from evil.
legolas13589 4 years ago

nofunhereUSA 4 years ago
The war must continue to reinforce and preserve the government in Iraq as well as protect Israel from future conflict in the Middle East. If it wasn't for the United States, Saddam Hussein may have already attempted to bomb Jerusalem, something that our Christian President would never allow.
