  • „When I was 20 years old, I had the same Mercury Cougar XR 7 GTE with 7 Lt. Motor. Today, 40 years later I bought one again, but a standard Cougar with a 302/4V V8 5 lt engine, all original and not restored, am totally happy. Many greetings from Switzerland.“

  • '69 Mach 1 428-SCJ "Drag-Pack" owner, and HUGE fan of GT Cougars!

    This is the BEST!!!!

  • 3 guys have a Prius...

  • I had a 1967 Cougar 6.5 litre 390cid C-6 automatic that was givin to me as a birthday present But I had to junk it because the only thing holding the front end together was the motormounts and trans mount...fastest car I've ever had...

  • im a ford fan for sure but i dont feel like im a fanboy when i say the late 60's cougers where best looking coolest cars every made, period

  • @5191keith Actually the standard Xr-7 came with a 351 small block or a 390 big block. the 428 and 427 were options. and most had the c4 or c6 automatics, four speeds ones are very rare

  • What an awesome car Jim! To think this car was not far from me in Walled Lake, MI 15 years ago. Was looking for a GT-E to buy and found a R code XR-7... Hope to see it in person someday! See you on the forum :)

    All the best,

    Tim

  • A Cougar GTE is the greatest of all muscle cars but since GM has always been the darling of the media it is always a copo this or an ss that and they say how rare they are. SS is a badge stuck on anything that had wheels. To watch Barrett Jackson they all are 1 of 1.

The GTE really is the THAT CAR. Wonder if Reggie Jackson knows what they are?

  • @xr7cougargt ,,,,,,,, He will now .. The shot heard around the Globe , after B-J this year!

  • amazing

  • I had an original 68 xr7 when I was 18 and sold it so I could get a truck. Biggest mistake I ever made.

  • Well now...I have to tell you about the 1968 Cougar XR-7 428 Cobra Jet 4-Speed that was the pea green in color that I was trying so hard for so long to buy,but never could locate the owner..I live in Southern Illinois and the car sat at an old abandoned house for years and it had old expired Tennessee tags on it..Never could find the owner and then one day the car just vanished after sitting in the same spot for over 6 years..Probably got stolen and parted out at swap meets or something

  • worth hundreds of thousands

  • Nice I have the sideoiler XR-7 version.

  • i love the old cats... I had a 68 1/2 R code 4 spd, holman moody prepped, pace car. 1 of maybe 40 made. had (25) 67 68's meOW

  • Shonomish, Washington??? hahaha

  • It's close,, I'm sure Jim doesn't want too many to know where his toys are,,

  • yeah yeah, I'm from seattle though and I found it funny that he's from WA.

  • That's a badass car. It rides so beautifully too.

I became a fan of 68 Cougars after seeing George Clooney (Seth Gecko) drive one in From Dusk Till Dawn.

  • Coolest car in the world

  • I have my grandfather's '68 Cougar. I want to take out the engine and put in something bigger (he had it replaced in the mid-80's so I want to swap it out - if it was the original I would keep it). I'm not looking to take it to drag races or anything, but I definitely want something with some balls. What would you guys suggest?

  • I'm an Oldsmobile / Buick fan 'till I die. But a very close friend owns a black '68 XR-7 and I love that car. I'm certain he has met this guy since we both live in Washignton. What a great car, they just don't build 'em like they used to!

  • I can remember seeing this on My Classic Car

years ago , In fact I have it on tape here somewhere .

Beautiful and rare '68 Cougar indeed .

  • Great car. My brother owned a '68 Shelby 500 KR with the identical engine/drive train. I can personally attest to it being the beast of all beasts, easily surpassing his '66 GTO.

  • peter would be proud!!!!

  • Mate I'm from Australia....I just wish we got the FORD big blocks down here back in the 60's and 70's!!

    Love it!!!

  • That is a ride to worship and love there. One of a kind indeed. It's one where the age of those seats is meant to be there. Redoing those would kill the prestige of the whole package.

  • ffs thats some moustash

  • Great car with an outstanding engine and a great color too! :) Jack

  • Outstanding car. Wish we could hear the engine a bit more (and less background music). Those hefty Ford V8s made the very best sounds of all the 60s muscle cars.

  • all that and no smoke show ,come on,if im gonna be on tv im gonna at least start a burnout in second gear ,maybe a doughnut?

  • Did you listen to the guy? It's one of a kind! You don't blow this beauty with stuff like that! You have to be SATISFIED to know that it could do it! Every time the guy drives the thing, every mile, the originality from 68 decreases by a mile.

  • i have a 1988 XR7 and i love that car

just turned 20 going by model years and when it was delivered

it was special ordered and delivered

  • I have loved cougars since I was a kid, this just reinvigorated my love for this vehicle. Still cant wait to get one.

  • Young guys drove Mustangs

    Banker's and Lawyers drove Cougars

For sure my all time favorite Bankers HotRod

  • Nice Video!!!

My Dad has a 67 that we put a a well built 351w into. It's a restomod car.

  • 1 of 3 Holy Smokes!

  • jeez.. cooler than my 73 xr7 that i been restoring for 4 years. so cool..
