well, I hate to break it to you, but an F-4 and a fully fueled 757 dont even compare in size and weight, and they only conducted it at 500mph...the 757's top speed is over 600mph and a 747's top speed is mach .92 so that test is useless. Your still missing the ultimate point. The fact that npp's produce dangerous waste in the first place eliminates them as a clean energy source. Having to "create" technology to deal with npp waste in itself defeats the whole purpose of clean, renewable energy, (as opposed to solar and wind), since it has to use energy to dispose of its waste. - and still doesnt eliminate human error accidents/sabotage that could potentially cause massive environmental problems. Too much risk, not enough reward.
Solar and wind are not "clean" at this stage, and will not be so at least for another 100 years, even alternative energy engineers admit will admit this. Google "the ugly side of solar panels". The technology for reprocessing radioactive waste has shown promising progress, unlike "alternative energy".
I hate to break it to you but the ENGINEERS that design NPP's know more than you and take all precautions necessary.
The bottom line is that a properly built nuclear reactor is rock-solid. If they were as brittle as you would like to think, the terrorists would have hit one of the 150 or so reactors already functioning on US soil and not the WTC or the Pentagon.

What are you suggesting then, nobody own guns because someone *might* commit a crime with them? If you intend to commit crimes, chances are you are not going to go through all the trouble of obtaining a permit. The Air Marshal program has been around since the 60's, fat lot of good it did on 9/11.
Police are 5 times more likely than a civilian to shoot an innocent person by mistake. Contrary to what you might assume, legally armed citizens are less, not more trigger happy.
Also concealed weapon laws are state laws, so you would have to have a permit in your state of origination, and destination... Unless your advocating the Federal Government take over the concealed weapon program (which would make life simpler), but I am for stronger state governments and I don't think that is a great solution at all (I think the Federal Government has its fingers in too many pies now)...

I would go for some in-depth coverage of Iran; that huge tax increase headed for the Senate; human rights abuse of citizens by their own government in Gaza, Darfur, North Korea, Tibet; women's rights and the lack thereof in Saudi Arabia, the Swat Valley of Pakistan; real health care solutions in our country for those here legally; border control on our Southern border; Honduras with a decent background to their governmental system; unemployment solutions that aren't government jobs. I was actually born about 100 kilos south of Chernybyl. If you actually knew what happened there, you'd know the problem was not nuclear power but socialism's utter incompetence at running anything successfully. The plant was running above safe power output parameters AND they were conducting unsafe tests at the same time. Why? Because the "energy czars" told them. Sound familiar?
An NPP running within safety parameters does not just fail arbitrarily.

Exactly, this Cap and Trade nonsense will tax people's energy usage, some people can't even afford their electric bills already. And they want to invest in "clean technologies" that don't even exist yet. ..the point was, that no matter "safe" you run a npp, accidents can happen. Not having them removes human error altogether. A nuclear accident that makes a place un liveable for centuries as opposed to a solar or wind field. Not to mention the nuclear waste that has to be stored somewhere...which will leak eventually. If another terrorist attack was to take place on US soil, It would be better if they didnt fly a plane into a NPP.

well, I hate to break it to you, but an F-4 and a fully fueled 757 dont even compare in size and weight, and they only conducted it at 500mph...the 757's top speed is over 600mph and a 747's top speed is mach .92 so that test is useless. Even though you wont address the points of human error or storage, just because an Npp is running smoothly, doesnt make the waste they produce any cleaner, and I dont want to live next to a waste landfill.

Airliners are basically big beer cans, thin-walled and hollow. Fighter jets are built to withstand missiles and machinegun fire, so that test is more than adequate.
Spent fuel rods are kept on site, and massive technological developments are being made as we speak into reprocessing said rods safely and efficiently. It's a much safer bet than some pie-in-the-sky "alternative energy".

Your still missing the ultimate point. The fact that npp's produce dangerous waste in the first place eliminates them as a clean energy source. Having to "create" technology to deal with npp waste in itself defeats the whole purpose of clean, renewable energy, (as opposed to solar and wind), since it has to use energy to dispose of its waste. - and still doesnt eliminate human error accidents/sabotage that could potentially cause massive environmental problems. Too much risk, not enough reward.

Solar and wind are not "clean" at this stage, and will not be so at least for another 100 years, even alternative energy engineers admit will admit this. Google "the ugly side of solar panels". The technology for reprocessing radioactive waste has shown promising progress, unlike "alternative energy".

I hate to break it to you but the ENGINEERS that design NPP's know more than you and take all precautions necessary.
The bottom line is that a properly built nuclear reactor is rock-solid. If they were as brittle as you would like to think, the terrorists would have hit one of the 150 or so reactors already functioning on US soil and not the WTC or the Pentagon.
Let me restate that: they chose to attack the PENTAGON over an NPP. That should tell you just how solid they are.

Agreed, that was a useless test as the mass of a fighter and a 747 are drastically different. Also the amount of fuel available for burning post impact is different. Why didn't they run a 747 into the wall?

While we're on that subject, maybe if the pilots or *gasp* the passengers were allowed to carry their licensed concealed carry firearms, there would have been no 9/11.

Otacon237: Pilots don't even want to carry weapons (Pilot Union vetoed that idea real quick), as for passengers carrying weapons, I guess your assumption is that they would be one of the good guys and would be able to do so with a great deal of accuracy (SWAT practices this scenario, civilians do not). Armed civilians on a crowed airliner has bad idea written all over it. Also 9/11 happened because prior to that event airliners weren't flown into buildings, only taken hostage...

An armed civilian populace on an airplane is just about the dumbest idea I have ever heard (which is why we have a Sky Marshal program). 9/11 happened because flight crews were taught to COOPERATE with hijackers at the time, and not due to lack of weapons. Also just because you have a concealed weapon permit doesn't mean your a good guy (it doesn't even mean you can shoot well either). It means you don't have a felony on your record.

What are you suggesting then, nobody own guns because someone *might* commit a crime with them? If you intend to commit crimes, chances are you are not going to go through all the trouble of obtaining a permit. The Air Marshal program has been around since the 60's, fat lot of good it did on 9/11.

Also concealed weapon laws are state laws, so you would have to have a permit in your state of origination, and destination... Unless your advocating the Federal Government take over the concealed weapon program (which would make life simpler), but I am for stronger state governments and I don't think that is a great solution at all (I think the Federal Government has its fingers in too many pies now)...

Ofcourse it's funny that he's calling him that when may or may not be. So in a way it could be different. The "N" words usage has been distorted throughout the years but it has always (il)literately meant black people. Fag has meant "end of the meat", "bundle of sticks", or a "cigarette".
