  • Room acoustics are huge. I don't think EQ is a good idea to fix the problem of poor room acoustics. It will sound significantly better if you can fix the root cause. Bass swells in room corners and fiberglass insulation absorbs bass.... so put a couch in the corner or armchair and stuff it full of insulation. Build a box-like table and stuff it. Be creative.

  • Very informative video of room acoustics, it all makes sense when it is explained in this kind of detail, obviously not all will agree, and I guess we are all usually happy with what we are used to hearing, however there are some very interesting topic raised within............thanks for addressing what everyone else seems happy to ignore.

  • I wonder why audiophiles dont just install genelec main monitors into their walls rather than getting seriously expensive "audiophile" sound equipments.. can anyone enlighten me?

  • @izaatmusic : because quality HiFi equipment sounds better or more transparent than studio audio equipment and is built to higher standards. i am an audio engineer and i have worked on pretty much every studio monitoring setup there is, genelecs included. and i have to say, my high end stereo hifi at home smokes everything i am woking with in studios. i am talking about subjective listening impression of course, but thats the most importing thing when listening to music.

  • Subwoofer not loud enough on music when speakers near wall. "8" sub "8" speakers...

  • Google DIY Bass Traps,

Or carpet on floor, use hanging rugs on walls,

furniture in the room that breaks up or absorbs the the sound waves, reduce output of the sub woofer. Reposition the speakers in the room., so the room is off square.

  • Great video. But,what happens if some one has a low budget and can't afford treatments? is there a easy solution for low budget treatments?

  • @Win98Error try experimenting with moving your furniture around - think of the room like a drum - moving the furniture around will change the shape/volume of the "drum" which will in turn change how it sounds..
