@MaxPayneIzRudog like it says in the description, recorded in-game at a high frame rate, then lowered it in the final version of vegas, that way several images get mixed in a same frame and give that motion blur effect.
@FreddyIsEpic motion blur purple bar? what the .. D:? Did you read the description on how I got the motion blur? I didn't use any special effect on sony vegas / After effects ...
@2007excalibur2007 when you edit with sony vegas, to add motion blur you need to add an envelope to the track. when that happens it makes a purple bar on the track which you can raise or lower to set the intensity of the blur.
@narutuza Half life 2 Deathmatch. If you are interested in it, you can get it for free in steam, just google "ati hl2dm" or "nvidia hl2dm", depending on what GPU you have, and follow the steps in there.
@flyingcheesestudios what I do is pretty simple. I'll assume you know the movie making basics, if so, when you record a video set the host_framerate value to something high like 500-600. After recording the clip, set the video framerate to the same value on virtual dub, and later import it to vegas, set the video framerate to 30 there, and where it says "Full resolution rendering quality" (on properties) set it to "best". When you render the clip, it will end up with a motion blur effect.
Regarding the editor, it's not an effect at all, It's just rendering in less frames than the original video, causing the extra frames to interlace and giving that "Motion blur" look.
use the command host_framerate before recording. If you wanna have 300 frames per second, set host_framerate 300 and record the .tgas
24 fps for a final render is pretty low, use at least 30... some people prefer to use 40 or up to 60 for the final version (take into account that the more frames you have on the final version, the bigger the final filesize will be...)
Record the clip with high fps (host_framerate 500 for instance), and when you are gonna render on sony vegas, set the rendering quality to "Best" and lower the FPS to 30. (Don't use over host_framerate 380 for rockets because for some reason the rocket's smoke disappears).
If so, unless you know how to record you won't understand what I'm about to say....
Record on a high fps rate such a 400 to name a number, then set the fps to that number on virtual dub, and later render on sony vegas or some similar editing program at 30 fps, with the rendering quality set to "best". That should leave the motion blur effect...
It's done on vegas AND the source engine. What you need to do is record in-game at a high fps rate. For instance, 500 fps. Then you set the video in virtual dub to 500 fps too, and later on vegas you render @ 30, with the rendering quality to "best" instead of "preview" so it will try to get 500 fps into 30 and leave that motion blur effect.
At first it looked like the rpg was gana hit the box that was thrown at you ;)
Just wondering why 360? the one you sent me with 300 fps looked just fine, and I dont think people can see the difference from 12 frames per frame, or 10 frames per frame. anyway looks good, maybe when I get my graphics card in the mail I'll do my best to send some demos your way :)
just trying some more. You told me quaker's used to use 500-600 when they didn't have that motion blur mod.
Besides, I wanted to see how many I could have without losing the smoke on the rpg. Tested with something over 400 and lost the smoke, so probably 360 is the best you can get for rpg scenes...
How did you get the mo blur?

@0nti thats clever! thanks!
flyingcheesestudios 1 year ago
@0nti is it source rate adjustment or frame rate conversion?
RicochetSaw 1 year ago
@0nti Well when you put host_framerate 300 in it gets really slow and like impossible to play.
flyingcheesestudios 1 year ago
@flyingcheesestudios well yeah but why would you want to be playing? you are supposed to be looking at a demo when you do that..

ok, how do i increase COD4 Framrate,
and what effect in my editor do i use?
arjun474 2 years ago
No idea about the COD4 engine, sorry :(
Regarding the editor, it's not an effect at all, It's just rendering in less frames than the original video, causing the extra frames to interlace and giving that "Motion blur" look.

i record clips in 59.94 framrate, i rendered in 24 FPS, and it looks laggy and terrible,
what do u mean by 300 fps because things are normally only 30 - 50.
how do i 'up' tthe framrate?
arjun474 2 years ago

so its not a script, just how the video is rendered?
RicochetSaw 3 years ago
yup.
0nti 3 years ago
i like it, it makes HL2DM look crysis-ish if you think about it.
what are you using in vegas to make this video? or is this effect entirely in the source engine?
RicochetSaw 3 years ago
It's done on vegas AND the source engine. What you need to do is record in-game at a high fps rate. For instance, 500 fps.
