I still just don't get it why San Jose is the 3rd largest city in the Golden State by population rather than being San Francisco.downtown San Jose is small compared to downtown San Francisco.

@nostalgiamelancolia1 SF seems bigger because everything is compacted into a small area. San Jose is spread out and is almost double the size of SF land wise. SF is just the tip of the peninsula. San Jose covers most of the south bay with littler cities like Santa Clara or Milpitas surrounding it. Look at a map bro, learn something.

I lived in San Jose for most of my life and moved away for college. Missing the city like crazy; you wouldn't notice it unless you left, but San Jose has its own distinct culture that other places lack. I intend to move back once I graduate

Wow. You must've been on the outskirts of the city. It's all flat open land and freeway. You're clearly not in the center of SJ. Like where Willow Glen, Hamilton, Winchester, Santana Row, and all that is. San Jose tries too hard to be like Los Angeles. That's what SJ is, a mini-LA. Constantly tries to look like it, and the people here who think they're high-class Yuppies because they shop at Valley Fair.

hahahaha well ummm...being a 19 year old in the bay area, i'm usually busy with work and school. i would probably go hiking on mission peak in fremont, gokarting in lemans, eat at retaurants such as the curry house in cupurtino, work out at the gym, house parties, chill at quicklies in milpitas with friends of course and surf the web........ hahaah there's nothing much to do here when you are below the age of 21. however, if you like being active, san jose is the perfect place to exercise in.

yeah. san jose/gilroy is the south bay. sf is the north. oakland/richmond is the east. livormore/concord is considered to be east although they are not physically part of the bay. but since so many people from there work here in the bay, i believe they are part of the bay area community.

I remember as a teen I thought living in Milpitas was the shit (awesome) because most of my friends lived there & went to Milpitas HS.

Looking back on it now; pretty funny considering there's not much in Milpitas--save for McCarthy Ranch Outlet stores & The Great Mall.

Fremont is decent; I've only gone to catch the BART into Oakland or SF. Ohlone is alright.

I miss the MILPITAS 10 CINEMAS! I remember from 1986 to 1999 that theater was possibly one of the biggest draws in Milpitas--3 years before Great Mall was built.

Then, the theater started getting crappy when became the "dollar" cinema; showing movies that would go to DVD a month later.

I completely forgot about IN & OUT!
