  • well done!

  • Bravo !!!

  • So do you play straight from the sheet of music or do you learn the music from the sheet and then play it? Both are great to know but, if you learn the music from the sheet then play it then I believe it is better than reading straight from the sheet. Although it does take longer to learn and memorize it I believe it is well worth it, even though I would like to read from the sheet without having to translate it and memorize it.

  • I have a hopeless memory and find it really hard to memorise things. I tend to learn it, but then use the sheet to remind myself as I play. ;)

  • its french baroque the quavers are swung but not written like that in modern classical notation

  • Hi Jamie,

thanks to your nice Menuet, I made also one by Lully, arranged to theorbo by the famous anonymous. I tried to put it here as a video response. Let's see if I could... ;-)

    All the best,

    Arto

  • Thanks!

That was the first video response I've had!

    Best wishes,

    Jamie

  • Very beautiful sound and feeling! Welcome to the de Visee world!

    Arto

  • Thanks Arto. I certainly am entering the De VIsee world, I'm learning his Suite in Dm on my guitar at the moment :).

    Thanks again,

    Jamie

  • Robert de Visee is a challange. Although I mean to hear some little rhythmical problems, I think you have mastered it very good. The sound is better than on normally strings. Regards, Martin

  • Thanks Martin. I really enjoy playing this piece so I practise it quite a lot. I'm glad you enjoyed it!

I agree, I think the sound is far better with the gut.

    Thanks,

    Jamie

  • May be, we can some times hear a piece of Silvius Leopold Weiss from you? If you go on so, it would be possible in the next years. Regards, Martin

  • I have already played some Weiss but not to a good standard yet. He is my favourite Baroque lute composers and one of my favourite composers for that matter. I do it on my guitar since I haven't found any arrangements for renaissance lute. So the answer is a definite yes, and hopefully quite soon!

    Jamie

  • Well played Jamie

    Must get some gut strings

    Regards

    Phil

  • Thanks Phil. If you don't play with nails (they damage them), I strongly recommend them.

    Regards,

    Jamie

  • Thanks Francesco. Your continual support and comments is really making me happy. Thanks so much for the kind words. I'll be putting up another Visee Minuet tomorrow.

Thanks again and the very best of wishes,

    Jamie

  • Magic sound and great sweetness !

W Aquila strings and five stars to your great talent!
