The Gamegear was OK, but it kinda sucked because it was fuckin' huge, and sucked 6 AA's in a couple hours. I remember playing Sonic 2 on it back in the day, and always using the AC cable instead of batteries...never had to do that for Gameboy :P

Five hours at most, if I remember correctly. Sega would take measures to extend the Game Gear's power to match that of Nintendo's Game Boy, with accessories like the Battery Pack (which housed a couple more AA batteries) and the Power Battery (which was rechargeable and further extended the Game Gear's unplugged life).
