Wonderful as always... I have her entire EMI discography. I never get tired of La Divina. Sshe is the first singer I listen to in order to inspire myself as a singer, the there is Anita Cerquetti, Ghena Dimitrova, aso. Callas is always first.

One of her great attributes as a musician was her simple beginning to every aria she sang. "Oh nume tutelar" "Casta diva" "Una voca poco fa", etc. There is incredible expressiveness in this method, and an artist must be able to trust that the voice is expressive at any volume, no matter which character they sing. She literally puts a slightly different color on every syllable of those 3 words. Amazing. She called it "breaking the music into pieces". Well, with brilliant results, I might add!

Non sappiamo come l'abbia cantata Carolina Branchu, ma Maria Callas è la miglior Giulia pensabile, penso che lo stesso Gaspare Spontini si sarebbe commosso.

@palmolella indubbiamente la piu esspressiva interpretazione di questo ruolo. Callas era un grande musicista non solo una grande cantante. Lei aveva una musicalita meravigliosa, cosi poteva cantare ed interpretare tutti i suoi ruoli con tanta espressivita e tanta poesia, come nessun' altra.

how manu accounts in youtube have you opened in order to bash at Callas? you are so boring you always post the same text over and over again. get a life!!! ok then again if you had a life you would be busy doing other things but at least the great callas gives meaning to your wretched life. you are like a moth firts because of your piny brain with 2 neurons second beacuse you always go to the bright light in this case the light is the soprano assoluta CALLAS.

Callas' version of this aria is awful. one need only listen to the Rosa Ponselle recording of the aria to hear how it should be sung. Callas was a vocal diaster. She has no nuance in the singing of this aria.
