This kid has some brains lol, good video, i still think i should go get someone to put a new soundcard in for me, im going to buy the Soundblaster Titanium HD i think, i just think i will muck it up if i do it myself :( lol
I needed to install the sound card so the computer would give off sound since the integrated sound drivers don't exist for my specific computer. Ergo, I have absolutely no clue what you said that whole time.
Hi there. I'm hoping you can help me. I just bought a Dell subwoofer with yellow, green, and black jacks and am trying to hook it up to my Gateway computer and am having a hell of a time. It looks like it was part of a 5.1 sytem but I just want to use it with my two little speakers. How do I hook this thing up? Thx
@uphill248 Usually the motherboard will automatically switch from the onboard sound to the external card, but if it doesn't, then yes. You have to specify to use PCI.
how do i know my computer can fit PCI .. i bought this gateway computer about 2 yr .. its gateway series FX7026 and i wanna buy a Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty Pro Series PCI Express Sound Card mmm... pls save me i wanna recording my own music ;( pls pls pls ><
*Doesn't hear sound* it works! *mouse doesn't work* it all works believe me!
LOL. best ending to a tutorial ever. I got what you meant though, you probably just had to change your settings from intergrated audio to your actual sound card in the BIOS or the windows menu.
@iSNiPEjust You need to know what interface your computer supports and what interface the card has. If it is a modern computer, then it's a safe bet that you have PCIexpress (PCIe).
I just bought a sound card and it requires a 4 pin power supply. My pc doesn't have that, anyone have an idea what my options are? Maybe an adapter? I'm not too techy, so please if anyone could help :)
@heavenlyplaya I assume you mean PCI-E, in which case you can get an adapter if you have a couple extra molexes (the 1x4 ones with four pins). The PCI-E connector is 2x2 pins.
do all computers open up on the side or is it just this one? im soon going to replace my soundcard, rather than pay the shop id rather do it myself..if its as easy as what you have shown..great vid all the same!
Small question, would you know how to connect the cables from the CD-ROM drive to the sound card? I got my card in along with installing the driver, but I don't think it's hooked up properly x.x
Mine isn't connected that's the problem xP My comp was originally a server computer so there was no need for it to have any sound in the first place. x.x
Haha me too! I have never seen the need for the sound card - I don't register any difference in audio at all. The only reason I put this in is because the onboard audio was fried. ;)
Same here. And I don't use video cards either. Onboard is fine for me. I use my PS3 for games anyway, so no need to invest in a big, expensive video card. But that's just me...
People say PC gaming is dead, but it isn't; it's just being reborn. Eventually people will realize that instead of buying 3 consoles, they can just use their computer. Plus, there are more possibilities and modifications when using PC. Anyway, this is why I use a big expensive video card. LOL

@kidchronic666 If it doesn't have an aux. audio port (3.5mm) you are pretty much out of luck I think. =(

Can you fit any soundcard on any computer? If not, what do I need to find out so I can find a suitable card for my comp.

what exactly is a sound card ?and what does it do ?
MrHumbleWill 11 months ago
@MrHumbleWill It's an expansion circuit board that is existent in computers. It's what outputs sound to speakers.

@Jrm4cam Follow the video with your eyes, install a sound card, and watch it again with sound. ;)

@Technoguy3 is this the same procedure for a newer computer? Thanks for any info!
Jrm4cam 1 year ago
@Jrm4cam Yup. Newer computers will use PCI-E. Pretty simple.

can u use motherboard soundcard and a internal soundcard at the same time?

@BaaWaaNi Possibly, but I don't know of any motherboards that support using multiple sound outputs.

@Technoguy3
I'm not sure what that really means (PCI-E) but I know this is what I need:
Sata (Male) to Sata (female) AND 4 pin Molar (female)
I don't know where I can get that except NEWEGG, but I live in Canada.

Cables? CD-ROM drive? Sounds cards are almost always PCI devices. You won't need cables. And certainly not from the CD-ROM drive...?
