i saw a few mistakes.u should try to stab his head when he uses the bite attack(the circle button).The safest place to avoid the lunge and the mid-air fire ball is below him.When he comes down,try to attack the tip of the tail,so that the wind does not blow u away.rotate your anlong stick in a circluar motion to ur rite whenever u get the 'star's on your head as fast as possible,that wy the stars will dissapear.And if you think the pit fall trap is better then the shock trap,u are very wrong.

@djmfcp if you wanna trap him before he sleeps u have to see if its walking funny and u must have 1 trap and tranquilizer bombs to capture it . whether its sleeping or not u must see the sign of it being weak .

creatures that will walk funny when they are about to sleep are rathalos , rathian , kut ku , garuga , congalala and other pelagus

@djmfcp for lunastra or chameleos u need dragon element is good for both but chameleos is weak to fire the most and lunastra is really weak to dragon but if u dont have dragon element just use water element cause its the second weakest to it

i recommend getting esp before you fight chameleos except if ur using dual swords because when it is not scared(not invisible) ur weapons can slice any part but when its invisible ur weapon will bounce off except if u hit the leg . luna is just normal ^^

Chameleos weakness dragon -1 fire -4 so get a fire weapon to make it easier

for lunastra water -1 dragon -2 so any element is the same

get esp for chameleos since ur weapon will bounce off if he is invisible . if you cant get esp just get any good dual sword will be ok because if u attack elder dragons alot they will run away in 25 minutes then another quest of the same creature will appear but the dammage u got on it will stay so it has lower hp

That correct. Well, it happen when he goes back to the cave. He will rest and he would gain his HP back. If you let him rest long enough he would got his HP back to the point that you cannot capture him. So be quick when you plan to capture.
