  • bull shit, noobs doing retarded presentations.

During time it got cut off oceans, it has no water sources to support the huge area.

  • I first found this clip while researching for a presentation on water as a resource, using the Aral Sea as a case study last year. This video has been stuck in my head as an apt summary of the environmental tragedy that is the Aral. It is indeed the Quiet Chernobyl. People who are interested in this topic should do more research. You'll find astounding information on the effects of the disappearance of the Aral.

  • SAVE THE ARAL SEA!!

  • Very nice video. Well done!

  • Retarded russians again destroying the world.

  • @normalais you cant blame it on russians, communist party leaders were not human. soviet was a regime to destroy other countries. let them fuck off with their communism and rule in their own country. this wouldnt happen under russian empire rule.

  • @Starshina89 russians sure supported it. and how is russia of today different from soviet russia? They are destroying countries again. They want to control as much of the world as they can. Right now they are trying to take over the Kavkaz region (georgia, armenia, kyrgistan) and even ukraine

  • @normalais

russias far more corrupt today then in soviet times because now it isnt strictly government corruption

  • @normalais.. R u stupid? World should be thankful for russia goin into Georgia because the Georgian govt was killing innocent civilians PLUS Ossetians want to be with the Russian Federation! As far as destroying countries its what all world powers do its called Imperialsm. USA for example basically all of South Americas oil even as far as Mid East. France...Haiti Africa and list goes and and down to Great Britian. Dont just be one sided like the media tell the truth. Do your hmwk DUMBASS

  • @Starshina89

it would have because of the industrial growth and lack of care for nature

  • @normalais

and your american.... the real world isnt a movie and maybe you would find america are the bad guys in the real things not some evil hollywood russians

  • @normalais... Along with US, France, G.B. and all the other World Powers. Dont forget to add US destruction of South America and wherever they could get oil and stick in their puppet govt figures! France in Africa, Haiti. Lets not be one sided. You must be stuck on CNN

  • Russia is our enemy, and they always will be.

  • @Grillzor...Russia is a country you dont want to be your enemy or else you will never be!

  • the video of course...not the content lol, thought i'd clarify

  • beautiful work, good job!

  • they should make a pipeline from caspain sea to safe the lower west aral sea; but hey im dreaming.

  • To hell with the bloody soviets. And stupid Ozbegs aren't doing anything to help. Only Kazakhstan is interested in saving the sea. If Ozbeg government still want to dig the seabed for oil, they will fall. THEY WILL FALL!

  • the movie seems interesting....but the trailer could have been a lot better

  • Guys, Aral sea is coming back!!!

    Wohoo!!!

  • Salam. The Aral sea is not coming back. Uzbekistan isn't doing anything to help. Only Kazakh Aral region is coming back. But Uzbek Aral is going to be gone. You can understand me?

  • The new mid-July 2009 images have been posted and the drop in water in the EAS is just stunning. For all sakes and purposes, the EAS is gone. There is a tiny amount of water that remains but it looks like a salt marsh. The channel between EAS and WAS is almost gone. When that goes, so does the WAS.

I've heard rumors that once KAZ is done raising their dam, a channel might be cut for overflow from the NAS to the WAS. What isn't rumor is that in 50 years a massive sea is gone and few know.

  • from what I hear the north aral sea is rising again, the Zazakh's are working to try to restore some of it. the the uzbek side is still being drawn off for cotton.

  • I think the main reason is the Uzbek government is very repressive and does not care about restoring its share (the much larger share) of the sea. The Kazakh government secured a major loan for a dam and the north Aral Sea is coming back to life.

  • Well done presentation. Do you have a longer version of the film?

My understanding is that the Kazaks are trying to stabilize their part of the Aral, and hope it will grow at least somewhat over the next several years. But the Uzbeks have too little money, and aren't motivated enough to do something about their end. It also seems very little help is coming from the Russians, and that doesn't seem right.

  • Sorry but no, this is as long as my project was.

You sound spot on with your understanding.

  • This is a World problem now! Hope they get back atleast half of the priar water surface!

  • Thank you for your comment Mutanthippie; no doubth the cause was old Sovit Uninon's but, ill effects of that cause, to everyone and a lost asset to our Earth., therefore it is mankind's duty to save Aral...

  • Pump water from the Caspian Sea to the Aral Sea.

  • Really? i mean seriously?

  • That's my idea. Uzbekistan should build a water channel from the Caspian Sea to the Aral Sea.

  • This has been proposed... but there's a lot of reasons why this cannot be done.

  • @AllegroDragonstorm n one of thos reasons is america cuz haarp has alot to do with that n white gold is da reason america is rich

  • Uzbekistan cannot do that due to several resons:

    1. lack of financial resources

    2. due to some geological conditions

    what a pity, though :((((

  • Well then we can only hope for the best. Uzbekistan will fall, the Uzbek nation will fall I swear. The only way they can stop themselves from falling is to work together with Kazakhstan to restore the sea. Kazakhstan has put in a great effort in restoring the Aral sea. But it's time Uzbeks did the same.

  • it's one of the most terrible ecological disasters of 20-21 centuries!!!

can anyone of you help me to find the full video version of it? please, help!!!

  • Sorry, but this was just a 1 minute short film I did for my graduate project at animation school.

There's a lot of interesting info out there on the topic though.

  • nice job, very sad situation for those people.

Cotton has destroyed so many areas.

  • A- Nothing wrong with it; it is not for Cannes but, to remind or highlight a sad fact.,

B- Aral is a world property and saving it is a world responsibility.,

C- If you don't care then don't show yourself here because, you're exposing yourself as to how a sad situation you are in to be pittied than Aral Sea...

I liked it, hoping to sea more of it and thanking for it!

  • its not the worlds responsibility, its the soviet unions responsibility...or what ever it is called now.

  • Unfortunately it's a problem that affects a good portion of the world (the toxins from this region have been found as far away as the artcic. Yes, the Soviet Union should have been more responsible, but now other people need to step up to the plate because they clearly aren't going to. Russia can't they be expected to undo all the wrongs of their ancestors, and Uzbekistan/Kazakhstan can't just fix the situation on their own because it requires changing their entire economy.

  • I dont understand why the uzbeks don't just cut there cotton industry out or downsize it or maybe try to make the irrigation canals more productive so theres more water draining up; or build a damn; it doesnt make sense.

  • because canals connect to the river in Turkmenistan. Turkmens are not interested in this

  • Because uzbek officials are corrupt they FORCE third of population to work on cotton fields. Guess were the revenues go? Guess what happens with those who disobey? It's country of slaves. It's not even a feudalism.

  • Because it's better for Uzbekistan to just let it dry up, unfortunately. They don't have the money to fix the problem or take the hit to their cotton exports, and the fishing industry wouldn't produce enough to make it worth their while anyway. Not to mention that it's not just Uzbekistan stealing water from the sea. And like haimaphil said, Uzbekistan's government is corrupt as hell.

That's not to say it shouldn't be fixed, but it's going to require a lot of international attention and aid.

  • politics

  • The Aral is worth saving, props to the Kazakhs for recognizing and wanting to save one of earth's natural treasures!

  • oh my goog someone kwoks something about the island in the middle of the sea ? many people say if there you can find secrets labs, thats rigth ? or is only my imagination

  • um... well it's not an island anymore... yes, the Soviet Union used to have a biological weapons facility on what was Vozrozhdeniye Island. America took interest in this at the turn of the millennium when there was the big anthrax scare. It's very interesting stuff if you want to look it up.

  • Vozrozhdenya had been a testing ground for Soviet biological weapons during the Cold War. In addition to testing done there on such agents as tularemia and the bubonic plague, 100s of tons of live anthrax bacteria were buried on the island in the 1980s. In 1999 still-living anthrax spores were discovered on the site, and scientists feared that when the island was no longer surrounded by water, land vertebrates could carry anthrax to populated areas. Now it's not an island anymore...

  • good

  • thanks

  • Sorry, I'm from Kazakhstan and the real name of that island is Barsa Kelmes, if you translate it to English it'll be pretty much like: If you'll go there, you'll never come back!!!

  • Very Good! THe Aral Sea has been going bad for 40 years now. At least the North might be saved.

  • Yes, it's exciting! A shame that the south has been abandoned though.

  • Thanks everyone for the support.

In regard to them bringing back the sea. The results look positive in the northern sea at the moment, but Uzbekistan seems very... hesitant to do anything about it. Guess the government feels they'll be just as well/better off if they are able to get oil out of the ground once the sea is gone.

And for those who are interested, I currently am working professionally as 3d visual effects artist, I was hired before I graduated.

  • This is such a tragedy.I hope they'll bring the lake back to life.Every drop of it.

  • very strong pictures!

  • I think its pretty good for a student project.

  • Dafaucas, why don't you go to the Aral sea, and pound salt. The video is fine, and informative. What do you do all day, insult other people? Be constructive.

  • I wasnt so irrespective, if u cant see it, i dont give a shit.

  • Thats awesome for a student project and a pro job.

  • it is pretty good for a student project. And you picked a nice topic aswell, good job :)

  • dont missunderstand me, its fine, but i thought it was a pro documental for tv. For a pro documental its weak, but its not a bad job at all, just not pro.

  • Dude, this would not be weak for a "pro documentary". I bet with this clip here along with his demo real he could easily get a job in the CG industry. Good work man!

  • oh my god, is it a pro job??? i have seen amateur things with more quality.

  • No, actually, it was a student project... thanks for your feedback, I suppose it's better than nothing.

  • Irrespective of your pseudo-apology below, you're a dick for writing this in the first place. Before you post, think ... and try and write something constructive. To AllegroDragonstorm, FWIW, the red blood cell sequence is nicely done.
