Moreover, the verification of the 188 congressmen under the rules of the house is enough to file the impeachment complaint. Under the verification, based on the evidence, those congressmen attest that there is probable cause to file an impeachment charge against the CJ.

@Caicen The reason I am asking is because in the legal world, judicial corruption is common knowledge to lawyers. Moreover, it does not take a genius to determine that the CJ's lawful income could never allow him to afford multi-million dollar properties. Math lang yan. Thus, the government has every right to forfeit those properties under the appropriate proceeding. Note that judges are supposed to follow ethical rules which are higher than the rules applied to ordinary persons.

Meaning there is probable cause to hold the respondent for trial. We are beyond suspicion here. You are too enamored by Justice Cuevas' arguments most of which are inapplicable in an impeachment trial and the prosecution's lack of coherence in presenting their case. The prosecution has to step up though.

Land titles r public docs & they have a higher evidentiary value than unnotarized private docs. As such, theres a presumption that these are ill-gotten wealth. It is not based on suspicion. @YapJohn85 The prosecution has copies of the CJs SALN. These are public documents and are discoverable. The Office of the President has them as well. They just subpoenaed the Supreme Court's copies. Moreover, the verification of the 188 congressmen under the rules of the house is enough to file the impeachment complaint. Under the verification, based on the evidence, those congressmen attest that there is probable cause to file an impeachment charge against the CJ.

@Caicen The reason I am asking is because in the legal world, judicial corruption is common knowledge to lawyers. Moreover, it does not take a genius to determine that the CJ's lawful income could never allow him to afford multi-million dollar properties. Math lang yan. Thus, the government has every right to forfeit those properties under the appropriate proceeding. Note that judges are supposed to follow ethical rules which are higher than the rules applied to ordinary persons.

The prosecution's evidence is weak and at sometimes want to fish some evidence so they rely much on "trial by publicity" to gain the support of those gullible enough to believe everything they say, EVEN without the necessary facts.

So those multi million dollar(is it really in dollars?) properties are all but allegations which are yet to be proven at the impeachment court. As an aside go a background check on Corona, he graduated at Ateneo and taken a Masters at Harvard. One couldn't do that if he did not came from a rich family to begin with. He did not became an instant millionaire, his family is a millonaire.

@YapJohn85 So if you think there was no evidence to proceed, why did the Senate refuse to dismiss the case aber? A non-dismissal means that the complaint is sufficient in form an in substance. Meaning there is probable cause to hold the respondent for trial. We are beyond suspicion here. You are too enamored by Justice Cuevas' arguments most of which are inapplicable in an impeachment trial and the prosecution's lack of coherence in presenting their case. The prosecution has to step up though.

An impeachment trial has its own rules and rules of evidence in impeachment are LIBERALLY CONSTRUED. This means the rules on evidence is MORE RELAXED than that in a criminal trial.
