I have to say, this is a beautiful and correct representation. Sounds amazing. I like how the leg burners are a flat black as opposed to the chrome ones, are they straight through or do they have some sound deadning material in them?
@msinghof Thank You! Nice to see someone posting here that knows what they are talking about.
This is one fine looking well done instillation of a great motor in a great car. Do you have a web site where I can see more photos of your great work? I have dreams of building one soon. For years owning an Auto Body Shop and restoring cars for customers only had a few of my own and now retired it is time for me! Thank You. David. North East USA.
@msinghof Even at that price they are still one of the three best on the market. The Quality of the body fit and finish is unmistakably the best. The doors, hood, and trunk are fitted to each car before the final sanding and painting. Can't get any better than this...... Thanks Sir David.
No, I didn't say that you did. I said, check out the people who do by going to the Goodwood Revival website and watch them race orginal cobras and other vintage cars. Yes they really do drive them! And yes, I have seen original CSX 3000 series cars driven. Actually one of the biggest 289 and 427 collectors in Chicago takes his out on occasion.
Not all orginals sit in museums. Do a search on "Goodwood Revial". It's one of the biggest collections of original vintage race cars (and planes and motorcycles) being driven like they were meant to. Their site has a great video! GT40's, Daytonas, Cobras, Ferraris, and many others. Enjoy!
Well i figured sence its the nicest one i've seen had to be real but it not. See i am Bimmer Freak and had no other cars but BMW by ///M Devision, so its acceptble for me to make a mistake. Anyways Really Nice Car replica or not if it has 427 and work done its a Beast
Show me Any Bmw Starting from 70's till Now i'll tell you even exact Year and possibly month it was made, But American cars Not me. So Sorry for a Big Mistake!!!
It's okay, we all make mistakes. That is why I clearly posted it as a Superformance so anyone looking would hopefully know that it's a replica. Thanks for checking it out!
It's a Superformance replica that incidentally is the only company that Shelby has licensed to build Cobras. There were 348originals made from 65-67. There were only 31 S/C's which this car mostly replicates. Mine has bumbers instead of the quick jacks.
Also, if you go to the Fordification site and search FE castings, you will see reference to "top oiler" under the C5AEA casting ID, which this block is. Additionally, there is a wealth of information about "top oilers" at the Network54 site under the Ford FE forum including Ford oil gallery prints.
They were most commonly referred to as "top-oilers" although "center-oiler" was also used. If you go to Wikipedia and do a search for "Ford FE", you will find a lot of information regarding the 427 along with information about "top oilers" and "side oilers".
Thanks Lisa. The block is a "topoiler" not a "sideoiler". Topoilers were around originally with oil fed to the cam bearings first then flowing down to the crank bearings. Too many oil starvation problems in NASCAR at the time so Ford changed the oil pathways to direct the oil to the crank bearings first...ie sideoiler. This solved their high speed banking problems at Daytona with starvation and the Sideoiler was born.

If I am not mistaken, the last time I checked, a new rolling chassis was closer to $40,000.

Great looking car. I was getting worried that you were not going to start her. You didn't disappoint.

Msinghof: are you saying that you park original cobras, $1,000,000 + cars, in your driveway and drive them daily? No. Never.
Karen: mistakes are never acceptable. ever.

Karen, you put originals in museums not on your driveway. That is a 'copy.'

mjam, nice.
I only got a 390 in my SPO but it still makes me happy every time :-)
"Sideoiler" not "Toploader", Toploader is the transmission if you would have the 4 gear.
(if i am not mistaken) :-)
