  • So why did he crash?

  • Ross brawn pulled him out alive

  • Radio silence? You'd think heavy radio usage would aid the situation!

  • @quatfro NO. during a big accident radio silence is obeyed so that ambulance services etc can be dispatched to accident by radio control without people interrupting. Its vital.

ALSO @contactacb you got stand on the bank and watch a terrifying accident and see if u hold composure. Running and flapping about... insult. especially cause u prob never marshalled in your life.

  • good job marshalls...we from motorsport owes u so much!

  • british fire rescue are so fucking slow, the guy is walking like no now please i was watching the race cmon

  • @deeproracing Ok, for comparison's sake, the marshalls were on the scene in about 9-11 seconds. Gerhart Berger's crash at Imola, where the marshalls were transported by truck rather than foot, it took them 15 seconds to reach the car. Since the Imola marshalls were considered fast by Murray "pants on fire" Walker, then being there in about 2/3rds the time makes the Brit marshalls grease lightning.

  • @deeproracing Run and you fall over and are useless, or worse get taken out - there is many a clip of marshals running & flapping about and not being that effective, plus the famous one who ran across a track & got killed by a car (also killing the driver). The terrain isn't conducive for running, especially if the car hits a gravel pit.

  • @deeproracing you mean marshalls and no they where not slow they where at the scene very quickly.

  • British Marshals on the scene with-in 11 seconds.... thats how you fucking do it.

  • If a crash as severe as this happened in china - he'd be dead. Good work Marshalls!!

  • i used to marshall

  • get rid of the adverts

  • all that's left is the cage.. safety first roar racers..

  • Ale urwał . !

  • Great marshalling lads!

  • After which he took up chess !

  • It's quite amazing how CO2 and foam can put out a fire!

  • @natakatu powder and foam. Powder to knock down the fire and foam to help stop it reigniting

  • That sore loser at his butt.

  • lets face the facts at least he survived. But i dont kno y the audio got cut off

  • @taichiization The sound from the cords from the car to the telvision were probly cut of, and the roof did come off

  • Was he hit by another car or why did the car go to the left? That was a huge crash...Thank God he survived!!

  • ddaaaaannnnnggggg, man! you can see the fire just engulf the driver, and the only thing that's left protecting the driver is the roll cage itself. thats IT!! all aspects of the bodywork of that car is g-o-n-e GONE!! thank god he survived that one! :O

  • 0:45 I mean

  • the driver is on fire at 0:47, he will have been ok good job the marshals were there!

  • that´s what i call a really hard crash!

  • ohmygod. MASSIVE one

  • He was fine. Ginetta is a good car.

  • Holy shit, the roof of the car was gone and he landed on his head !! O_o

  • @PorscheBulgaria there was a cage that saved him

  • was he ok ?

  • does he survive?

  • yes see his interveiw on utube just after the accident

  • i shat my self when this happend i was right near the fence

  • wow, hopefully the guy he overtook would remember next time to give more room!

  • how come the fuel shot off valve did not work?

  • ruptured/damaged tank maybe.

  • race cars don't have fuel shut off valves

  • @nwukguy Some do, some don't. It depends entirely on the sporting regulations.

  • massive crash

  • you can see the fuel line

  • Hard crash! wach the incar footage you can see the drivers head getting banged about in the mirror. The car help up really well considering it was a 145mph crash, did it go through the barrier.

  • @sheavyboy i oubt thats 145 mate. they go through old hall at 80 mph. and he hadnt reached the avenue kink before cascades, more like 120

  • oh my goddess! never seen a crash like this.... thank god that the driver escaped of this crash and inferno.... and thank the marshalls that helped very quick!

  • was this really on destroyed in seconds because ive never seen it and im an avid watcher the back end just lurched up slightly causing the nose to dig in deeper and making it cartwheel! more times that what it should of if it just went up or flat

  • yes it was on destroyed in seconds

  • i wanna try that

  • Comment removed

  • 5* marshalls

  • wow the marshalls really seem in a hurry to put out the fire NOT

  • massive crash! OMG

  • Lol this shit was on Destroyed in Seconds. Driver was alright.

  • I was there when it happened i was soo scared (i was about nine btw) and i thought the driver died....... did he?

  • he didnt, thankfully

  • Damn, it did not seem that bad from the inside, but when I saw the outside shot I was like :O

  • Geesh glad he was ok...........hope the guy who took him out was reprimanded as well !!

  • bad. just shows how driver safety is paramount. did anyone get the GT50 crash at oulton park last month. two drivers one hobbled away the other fractured his spine, nasty but amonth later and ones back racing the others retired but walking wounded. respect to the roll cage..

  • u can see the fuel line come out at 0:20 near the left of the windscreen and spray fuel everywhere....one lucky biatch lol

  • i saw that one i was there it was aswome

  • heh Jensen Button really took him out

  • i was oppisite side of the track outside the fogarty moss center and i thought he was dead, but when he got out and stood up his helmet was still steaming, lucky guy...

  • Really bad one... :-O

  • file under epic fail

  • File under stfu

  • fuckoff

  • don't you understand?

    I said file under stfu...

    Come on.

  • damn. that aston driver really took him out.

  • lewis dude

say it like it is you god damn legend

    SWEET WORK,

this guy has never seen a right hand drive porsche!!!!!

    rest our case bro!!

    SOME PEOPLE EH!!

  • cheers mate LOL =]

  • That is amazing. The best part about the marshalls is when there is a life threatening accident (not too many now thankfully) they are there to help.

  • luckey guy

  • Thanks Goes Out To The Marshalls

They Are The Forgotten Heroes Of Motorsport. Without Their Voluntary, Life Saving Work, Drivers Wouldn't Survive. People Thank The Roll Cages, But Ultimately It Comes Down To The Martshalls!!!

    Well Done Lads!!!!!

  • @mikeyisace07 My fiance is a racesafe marshal for the British superbikes. They do a fantastic job x

  • @mikeyisace07 Thanks, guys! Appreciation is good motivation! It's not just lads by the way. ;-) I'm co-pilot on a medical car at Francorchamps: first woman to be so and since then a few others have followed. We all do our best, but the shortage of money to supply marshals and intervention teams with proper equipment and training is still harsh reality in motorsport. Funny for a sport that depends entirely on VERY rich people... :-(

  • @mikeyisace07 Hi I'm marshall at Portugal Portimao circuit it's a lovely track.

Thanks for your coment and i am very proud from my job.

  • @mikeyisace07 Well, the marshalls were useless in the old days of Formula One.

  • @MochaF1 correct me if i am wrong but this dose'nt look like forumula 1 to me .

  • @mikeyisace07 Pfff they still run half the pace i would run in that situation.................. xD

  • wasn't that the crash where it was one of the marshalls first day or summat...glad he was ok (the driver, not the marshall!!!)

  • You can see what probably is the fuel line squirting when he launches prior to the outside-cam

  • Or the waterline to front radiator?

Anyway there must have been a leak somwhere.

  • no it a bloody ginetta

  • Nope, it's a Ginetta G50. I know what you mean though.

  • its the dashboard the looks like a gt3 porsche

  • do me a favour and learn how to spell suck

  • Lol what? Porsche? Your out of your mind :P

  • do people not notice the fact that the car in the title is Ginetta? and the car in the video? also a Ginetta. funny looking Porsche that.

  • Plus the fact it sais ginetta in the description...

Some people just have no idea!

  • i saw that live i was standing paralel to were it happend me and most of the people around me were shore we had witnessed a death. it really hit you most when it caught fire

  • Lawrence Tomlinson, Ginetta's Chairman, and Bill Gibson, Zytek Engineering founder, now have an equal controlling intererst in Zytek.

  • the only reason hes alive is cus of the marshalls, remember, there volunteers...

  • what was the penalty for the other driver, nothing

  • yes its Hunter abbott, I know him, I had lunch with him once....nice guy...but realy lucky.. im happy he didnt get hurt amazing how he jumped out of the burning car. well done.

  • I've just got back from the Thruxton round of the British GTs. Would you believe there was another massive crash involving a Ginetta G50. The number 52 car Redwood/Mussi hit the marshalls post at the end of Brooklands / Woodham Hill at full chat side on. Fortunately it was the empty side not the drivers side but it was a real shocker

  • OUCH

  • He only had slight burns to his hands and face, he gave an interview on the re-run on Motors after the crash, was well lucky!

  • what happened to the driver ??

    was he okaayy ??

    please reply !!

    thankyou love katherine xx x

  • yes, the driver was okay, but nearly walked away with only burn hand

  • This was my friends car... and he told me hose that the fuel enters the tank in, because it runs a dry break system, was attached to a piece of bodywork and as that got ripped off, thats why it burst into flames.

As Dn2kproductions said, these cars are designed for speed... not accidents!

  • Indeed, the fuel cell itself was perfectly intact if a little charred!! The metal case it sits in however was bent to buggery!!!

  • Thats just the archetypal bad crash, a heavy impact, high speed rolling then when you think its couldnt get worse...fireball!

  • why do they make cars so flamable now days?

  • These arn't normal cars they use the best of the best products for it so the petrol is highly flamable to give better performance and the oil is a better grade as well. but yea they dont expect you to crash as such xD

  • R_I_P :(

  • he survived

  • did he survive?

  • Yep, watch the second down 'Related Video'

  • wow!

  • Somehow it is now the first related video "Hunter Abbott escapes Ginetta G50 crash & fire, Oulton Park"

  • Good job marshals... brave stuff. Well done lads!

  • Definately not the Aston's fault behind, you can see the Ginetta start to drift across his path just before he gets tagged on the rear.Just as well the driver stays consious and can undo his belts, otherwise I think he'd have bought it. Lucky man !

  • damn...at first i wondered what the fuck happens there then the cam turned to track cam...unbelieveble

  • poor driver it made me cry heavily.well done to the rescue team

  • great job by the marshals well done lads.

  • If you pause it @ 20secs you can clearly see the engine having a wee.....

  • lol

  • I was marshalling this day from knickerbrook, and I watched it from about this angle, it was horrible, we thought he was dead, no doubt. lucky man indeed.

  • OMG - no comment

  • oh mein gott scheiße hey...ich hoff das den mann nichts passiert ist scheiße hey

  • holy shit

  • they arnt allowed to stop for an accident because they could cause one by stopping

  • that hurts man

    oh my god !

  • ouch ouch ouch...

  • blatantly the aston's fault. what a fucking twat - hunter is lucky that he wasn't seriously hurt.

  • twat....I LOVE THAT WORD...LOL !!!

  • damn that was scary.....

  • o ku..................

  • no only minor burns

  • did he die?

  • no, he didnt die

  • did he die??

  • btw awesome engine-sound

    i like this little ginetta

  • first thing i thought was this guy´s dead

    good to hear he´s ok

    ginetta? i´d say crashtest passed

  • saw that in a racing news paper yesterday!

    pretty bad that one!

one of the worst at oulton park

  • one of the marshalls is my dad on his first day

  • Damn, having been to Oulton twice on 2 wheels, i'd never have thought that would be a likely place to come off.....hence the lack of run-off area.

He looked very very lucky to escape that unscathed

  • For those that don't know the details: It was Rob Austins Ginetta G50 driven by Hunter Abbott int eh British GT race, GT4 class. Hunter escaped with Minor burns to his hands and went straight back to the pits to try and get the production car ready for Mondays race (unfortunately he failed).

  • ohhh a enormous crash

  • What kind of car was that?

It sounded kind of like one of the Corvettes. Was it?

  • What says the Title?

    Ginetta

  • Well excuse me. I had never heard of a Ginetta before. I thought that had something to do with the race, not the car.

Well, anyway, that's a badass sounding car. Hope the driver is ok

  • It was the Ginetta G50 of Rob Austin Racing, driven by Hunter Abbott (who shares with team owner Rob Austin). Last weekend was the G50's debut, both in British GT (this was one of six entered in the GT4 class) and in its own series, the Ginetta G50 Cup.

  • is he ok?

  • Yes, he was OK, just minor burns to his hands I believe. I saw it from the outside of the circuit at Cascades and will upload aftermath some footage soon.
