@tom1yum2goong The government can't fix all of the problems of our economy by trying to prop it up, bail it out, stimulating, and with endless rounds of QE. The number one problem our economy has is too much debt and too much spending. The total debt in the USA is 400% of our GDP if you include all debt from both government and private sources of debt. The government can't fix too much spending and debt with more of the same. Eventually it all has to be paid back.
@bkdmd so what can the government do. The government has to get out of the way and let that debt that took decades to accumulate to work it's way through and be paid back. With our deficits being 40% of spending the government is making things worse for us all down the road. National debt is 100% of our GDP. The number one thing the government could do to help us is get out of the way. The faster we can flush the faster we can come out on the other side.

If you adjust the GDP for the 85% loss of the US$ that has occurred since 8.15.71, our GDP would only be $2.25 TRILLION. Government spending is 45% of our GDP so the private sector is only about $1.25TRILLION. In 1971 the GDP was $1.1 TRILLION so that means our private economy has not grown in 40 years. What has happened the past 40 years? Baseline budgeting has grown gov at 7-8%/year.

If you figured those two into the U3, it would still be over 11%. Check out bhe BLS.gov website, you can do the math yourself. You do know the BLS doesn't keep a real unemployment number? If they did, it would be over 21%.

Total government spending is 45% of our GDP or $6.75 TRILLION! We have 155 MILLION in the workforce so that means each worker would need to pony up $45K in taxes to fund government at that level if the workforce was 100% employed. The average full time employee makes just at $40K. We currently have only 60% participation rate in the workforce so that means each current worker would need to come up $72K to fund this level of government.... It is unsustainable. Get it?

The number one problem our economy has is too much debt and too much spending. The total debt in the USA is 400% of our GDP if you include all debt from both government and private sources of debt. The government can't fix too much spending and debt with more of the same. Eventually it all has to be paid back.

If you adjust the GDP for the 85% loss of the US$ that has occurred since 8.15.71, our GDP would only be $2.25 TRILLION. Government spending is 45% of our GDP so the private sector is only about $1.25TRILLION. In 1971 the GDP was $1.1 TRILLION so that means our private economy has not grown in 40 years. What has happened the past 40 years? Baseline budgeting has grown gov at 7-8%/year.

If you figured those two into the U3, it would still be over 11%. Check out bhe BLS.gov website, you can do the math yourself. You do know the BLS doesn't keep a real unemployment number? If they did, it would be over 21%.

Total government spending is 45% of our GDP or $6.75 TRILLION! We have 155 MILLION in the workforce so that means each worker would need to pony up $45K in taxes to fund government at that level if the workforce was 100% employed. The average full time employee makes just at $40K. We currently have only 60% participation rate in the workforce so that means each current worker would need to come up $72K to fund this level of government.... It is unsustainable. Get it?
