  • see that second shot at 100 yards? right on top of the first one dang

  • Well, I might order a set of these :D As for optics, I have had em fail on me or lose zeros after a bit. Thankfully i am just a paper puncher or lugging through the bush for hunting. Iron sights on my AR have always been absolutely reliable and I am gonna using just those.

  • That sight is a good idea.

  • @SirKnightErrant

It is! Then you dont need to aim ontop or over the head on a silhouette target anymore

  • I have taken instruction from Paul as well as many other instructors. As far as I am concerned, Paul is one of the best instructors in the country. I was a Security Contractor for 3 years and my resume looks like an Easter Egg Hunt compared to Paul's level of experience. Not only does he know his shit, but he is a very meek and humble guy.

  • @Fluffyshotme What's up Fluffy?

  • Only Paul is good enough to zero from the standing.

  • All these Delta guys put shot on top of shot. Slow, fast, rifle, pistol. Amazing.

  • Seems like a good design and I actually thought about something similar to this just the other day. I was thinking that I really like the G3 type front post in a ring and rear peep sight, but that it might be a good idea to add something on top of it for closer targets and faster shooting. Seems like someone sort of beat me to it. Something along these lines might be great for IPSC rifle competition in standard where you have to rely on iron sights from a few meters out to 300 meters range.

  • CSAT is fantastic Mr Howes' books as well as his training are dead on,

There is nothing fancy about it, People are always trying to trick reality and invent solutions to problems that don't exist, Brutal honesty about the problem, Quality training and fundamentals are the only secret there is. CSAT has all of that.

I love this sight, and shoot great with it,

  • great idea

  • in the movie black hawk down, the guy of the longest yard, captain kenaur, he played paul howe in black hawk down

  • i dont think these will fit on the Troy sights. The Troy dont have a 90 Degree angle on the rear aperture sights when you flip them.

sfikes2 are you directing that toward me?

Paul is/was good at his job.

  • I have trained with Mr. Howe. The rifle sites he helped make are bar-none the best ones for a 100 M zero. The way it works is the bullets trajectory is the same at 7yrds as it is at 100yrds. Very accurate and very affective. In most of the classes Paul said the red dot sites fail and the guys dont have a pair of iron sites. I agree with an open site rifle especially his class.

  • Could I put these sights on a pair of troy battle sights? Just replace the front and rear apertures?

  • this is not a fair test. hes former delta.

  • Im sure you're a combat veteran and know it all too.......Paul is a fuckin killer, and knows his shyt so STFU

  • @sfikes2 I see ther eis a missconception that "ouh he's been in Delta for this and that amount of years, what ever he writes of tells you you'd better always listen to it because he know the know'". Of course, his experiance as a shooter is beyond any doubt. Yet, always look for whats more suited to YOUR needs and the type of scenarios YOU will participate in. Mr. Howe knows his tuff, you can tell it just by looking at him, but that does not mean he knows everything. Keep that in mind.

  • I'm sure Mr. Howe knows his stuff..but like a person has the time to align their sights at an armed target 7 yrds. for a surgical shot at the spinal column..perhaps an excellent choice for backup sights though

  • One scenario where you would, in theory, have the time and the need for a surgical shot from 7 yards is the hostage scenario, where precision takes precedence over speed.

  • very true, but if i were a hostage taker i would shoot my hostage at the sign of any rescue attempt and prepare to defend myself. Question though, could someone just use an Aimpoint/EOTech that close, or is it more accurate to go with irons?

  • The men from Mr. Howe's neck of the woods train to fire deadly accurate through muscle memory and shocking the hostage taker's brain to give them that extra second needed in such a scenario.

  • Its all about the offset at 7 yards. The beauty of the CSAT sight it that you can have no offset at 7 yards and a 100 zero in the same system without taking your hands off the weapon. Its definitely a piece of specialty gear. If I was still in Law Enforcement I would have one on my patrol rifle.

  • so does that mean irons are more accurate than an electronic sight?

  • id say eotech or a aimpoint is way better than that iron sight ..... u would be able to aim way faster and more accurate

  • These are backup sights in case the Aimpoint or EoTech fail.

  • @gmanflyairforce3 You'd kill your only bargaining chip and prepare to die? Idk

  • @gmanflyairforce3 inside of 15 (or so) meters you need to start aiming at the top of a bad guys head because of the height over bore of your sight system. This sight eliminates that need.

  • @gmanflyairforce3

unless youve been trained in high risk hostage rescue, how could you possbly have any reference?

  • Paul Howe was the leader of SFOD during the battle of Mogadishu. He is portrayed as sgt sanderson in the movie BHD

  • he wasn't the "leader" of delta..he was one of the many fireteam leaders who were on the ground in that battle

  • This sight came standard on my LWRC Paul Howe, CSAT Edition AR-15 piston rifle. It is one of the best sights I've ever used. With this sight there is no need to persue expensive optics for your AR-15. If you take the time to use, and work with this sight, you'll be very pleased with the results you can obtain with it. It is also one of the most rugged sights on the market. Extremely important on a battle rifle.

  • I'm not so sure about shrugging off the option of good optics. There's something to be said about an Aimpoint or EOTech and the fact that you don't even need a cheek weld to make accurate shots with them.

It does look like a very nice sight, but it looks like it's more of a back-up sight to me.

  • Paul has severed his ties with LWRC at this point. He was having "issues" with his rifles and has since decided to work with DPMS to help them develop a new rifle.

  • I'm sold. I want one.

  • For those of you who do not know. Paul Howe was a Delta Force Operator during the Battle of Mogadishu and took part in the battle over the 2 downed choppers on October 3, 1993.

  • @HalfEatenCookie1793 If that guy came crashing through a door, I'd just give up right then and there.

  • Where are his classes? Are they free?

  • Search up Combat Shooting and Tactics...he does LE/Mil classes throughout the country and does tactical pistol/rifle classes and a wide gamut of classes in Texas, usually at his place in Nacogdoches.

The prices are fairly reasonable, and it depends on what class you're looking at doing.

Check his website, the Scheduled Training portion...it has his schedule.

  • There was a DELTA Master Sergeant by the name of Paul Howe that served in Somalia... is this him?

  • Yes. He runs a school in Nacogdoches called Combat Shooting And Tactics...CSAT.

He's a true gunfighter and about the nicest gentleman you'll ever meet.

  • Thanks for the heads up. It would be cool to meet him. I have met Michael Durant (Super 64) and Danny McKnight (Convoy Leader) and they are really nice men also.

  • You should take one of his classes. Incredible stories, incredible instruction, and an incredible host.

  • Yeah it is, hes incredibly bad ass, and doesnt speak bullshit.

  • paul is my dad's best friend, he is really a great dude.

  • its Paul Howe, thats just bad ass

im gonna look into this sight as i would like a buis with my optics

  • It's my BUIS for my weapon. I took it with me to the sandbox. I'm staring at it right now. Great sight. I had to usse it in close combat once and it definitely delivered.

  • this sight is great. Paul sent my dad a free xs sight. this is an awesome sight.

  • I likey!! Great system

  • If electronic optics fail, you'll need iron sights. I'm sure Paul knows the value of optics and irons as he used them effectively against a few skinnies.

  • That's awesome, but I think a lot of people would just stick to a aimpoint, eotech. It's hard to use irons when it's dark. But this tool is pretty useful.

  • It wouldn't be half bad as a backup behind an EOTech tho. In case your optic system fails. Two is one, and one is none. Take care.

  • True. Take care as well.

  • E1, I offer this bit of insight... This is mission specific equipment designed to be useful as a CQB-to-across or down the street sight. Not all can afford, or are authorized RDO's for LE duty use. These are a more affordable, quality option. These aren't intended to compete with RDO's, but are an improved iron sight. Many amphibious guys like myself are distrustful of anything with batteries.

That 24/7 stripe sight is bright and FAST and works in all light levels. -fmr XS guy

  • Great shooting. Good luck to ya Mr. Howe.

    Hooah.

  • Thats ooh rah you MUG
