Our cat Meg used to do this exact same behaviour after we'd gone to bed and she'd been downstairs for a nom. It was something she started to do from about the age of 16. She passed away aged 18. Now, a few years on one of our other cats has started doing this occasionally, he's 14.

I guess it's an elderly cat thing :)

Though, the cat had to pass away sometime, they have much shorter lifespans than we do, it should have been expected >~>'

The people that think it is abnormal, don't know cats very well. I have lived all my life with cats, and they all have funny little individual things that they do, and I've known a few do what Tiggy does. It is always sad when they come to the end of their lives, I have a poorly cat now that is coming to the end of her life, but I try and placate myself with the fact that she brought me happiness, and I did my best for her! x
