  • i'm dying to catch a monster snook!

  • Your too good of a fisherman to prove anything to anyone. Why would you need to weigh anything in front of everyone? People are ignorant and they dont need you to weigh anything. Can they see the scale when your weighing it? No.

You knew what you did and I shouldn't have had to explain anything. I live not too far from you and I have alot of respect for you. I like you screaming and your freak-outs, but as fisherman of pine island area, we need to respect the fish.

  • There is no excuse to lift that fish on boga-grips when everyone and their mother knew how destructive it was back then. Its a nice fish, and a show is a show, but try to think before you act.

  • @HaPPyPwNy

Not true at all. Those Boga Studies did not come out until after 04. This show was originally filmed in 2003.

    Godspeed,

    Capt Ben

  • @captchancey I'm sorry but there are no excuses or studies necessary. When a fish is held up, with its bodied bowed like an arch, common sense prevails. I fish Jupiter all the time and 25-30 lb fish are commonly caught all night long. We take pictures of our fish but there is no need to weigh them.

We don't compare swords and we know what fish weigh by looking at them. I'm 29 and I stopped weighing fish when I was 12. I don't care if this fish was caught in 1950, common sense prevails.

  • @HaPPyPwNy Dude get real, he caught a lunker Snook and your jealous. Its one Snook you need to chill.

  • @CJCFishing ROFLMAO... Yeah I'm jealous. After 3 newpaper articles and several fish over 30 lbs, I have alot to be jealous about... trust me. Even though I make a living off of fishing WITHOUT A SHOW, ADSHARE. GUIDE SERVICES, AND YOUTUBE PARTNERSHIPS, your right and I'm wrong which I gladly accept.

  • @HaPPyPwNy

I doubt it, you dont even have any videos or anything to prove anything. Those studies came out in 2004 just like the captain said yet you still want to act like you know it all. Make some videos or prove that you actually fish before calling out other fishermen.

  • @CJCFishing LMAO. I never made a video because I never needed to. I fish all the tournaments, I am a part of the largest gog supplier in South Florida, and most people actually know me by name and have seen what I can pull off. I would never consider myself a pro, however I've hit many milestones that I'm proud of. Largemouth and peacocks over 10 lbs, snook over 30lbs, trout on trout, over 100 keeper snook in one season, grand slams on a mcdonalds straw to name a few... I will be uploading.

  • @HaPPyPwNy

Alright we will see when you get some videos up.

  • @CJCFishing I will admit that at first I thought you were a bit ignorant. You call me out as jealous of someone who I called a great fisherman, and you judged me based on the status of my youtube account... Although seeing that you are giving me a fair chance to post, you are much more savier and mature than most would guess. After dealing with several new-borners on this website, I appreciate your maturity. Thanks.

  • You ever do any freshwater fishing? Need to go after some alligator gar or muskellunge.

  • @shotgunjack1880

I used to, but very rarely now.

    Godspeed,

    Capt Ben

Cut Ladyfish and Threadfin are pretty awesome.

    Godspeed,

    Capt Ben

  • J or circle hook? whats ur line and leader, and how big or a weight?

  • @m1garand77

J hook 80lb fluro and no weight

    Godspeed,

    Capt Ben

  • omg my grand pa lives there

  • @loveash429 Here have a cookie....half of North Americas grandpa's live there lol

  • im from fort myers and i have been looking for fishing partners i dont get chances to go to better fishing spots but i live in east fort myers and fish at the tarpon street pier almost daily hit me up people :)

  • I think the opposite! The only freshwater fish I can catch is catfish! Lol snooks easy jus light leaders good bait and good presentation

  • Seriously. How does everyone catch Redfish and Snook and Sea Trout so easily? I have literally been trying for about 5 years now and have not caught a single one. What am I doing wrong? Saltwater fishing is so damn hard compared to Freshwater.

  • its hard to imagine how to catch a fish as heavy as that, the only fish ive ever caught have been well under 10 pounds.

  • when i was about 8 maybe 10 i caught a huge 32 inch snook going fishing soon and hoping to catch a bigger one

  • 3 characters: OMG

  • sick

  • Awesome video and fish.I live in Satellite Beach. 20 Miles north of Sebastian Inlet. I do a ton of surf casting on a 7 mile stretch of coquina rock beaches. This Aug weve been detroying the big one's on those Storm Shad paddle baits. Releasing them of course and just having a blast! Thanks for sharing!

  • @christopherpscott storms are the snook candy!

  • you sound like beavis after you hooked that fish and it was swimming around,ah-ahah-ahhhe-eh-ehe-eh-eh . big fat monster lunker snook. wish i could catch one like that.

  • Did you handicap the ladyfish at all?

  • @lilpartyboy

    No Sir

  • @lilpartyboy

I'd say chucking it under that dock is a pretty serious handicap!

  • Recommend any good lines? I was using 12lb Stren and fishing for bass in a canal, when a freshwater snook hit and started to run... leading to my line snapping. He was only like 20inches too though.

  • I'm new to this type of fishing being from Maine. I'm in Florida for a few months on a working vacation. I've been out one time due to cold weather. There was a major fish kill down here because of the cold. I caught some nice RED fish and it was AWESOME I had a blast! I can't wait to go out after some monster Snook. Tarpon and Grouper! Florida is Awesome!

  • ehh i only caught a 15 pound snook down at the sebastian inlet

  • HOLY SHIT!!!!

  • Ive been there. Theres snook EVERYWHERE

  • I hooked a snook yesterday, it was at least 17lb but lost her... she was rubbing my line up against some oysters and broke me off.. i saw her though.. she was a beautiful fish..

  • what! big snook! that was a big lady fish ! could you see that snook under the dock or were you blind casting? love the show..........check out my TEXAS SALTWATER fish'n vids.....

  • wow capt. thats a keeper

  • why do u use a weight if the ladyfish is already heavy??

  • because its live and the weight stops it from swimming where it likes, i.e around those pilings.

  • Just yesterday on my day off from school, my dad, girlfriend and i went to the north end of the indian river. we got to our spot and i through out a piece of cut mullet to catch about a 30 inch ladyfish. later, we used a chunk of that to catch a 21 inch redfish. the week before i used a small piece of ladyfish and missed a 15-20 lb. snook right at the boat cause of frayed liter. watched it swim right away

  • You guys got it made down here thats for sure! I'm from Maine down here on a working vacation. I went out and caught some really nice Red's but no Snook. I had a blast man those fish can fight! We also used cut mullet, But shrimp seemed to do the trick that day.

  • What's your setup? Looks like Shimano Calcutta.

  • Yes Sir. This show is from 2004 and that was the new 700 Calcutta.

    God Speed,

    Capt Ben

  • What bait is good for ladyfish?

  • gold spoon in fast action or shrimp, i just caught the same size lady fish today plainly on frozen shrimp out in a brackish water lake..

  • K thx

  • 80-130

  • hey captain I got a question. I fish alot down here in south florida, mostly for bass and alot of peacock. But, lately i've been on urge to try and catch a freshwater or 'canal' tarpon or snook. Know any spots or have any tips?

  • Yeap, fish the spillways with Bream or other pan sized fish on days right after it rains.

    God Speed,

    Capt Ben

  • Thanks, means alot.

  • In Delray Beach there's the Little Club, but you'll probably need to be a member. My friend is, and he caught a 20-pound snook there and says there's tarpon too.

  • cape coral (where i live) has about 400 miles of brackish inter-coastal waterways..find you a canal fairly close to the river..if there are bridges or docks in the picture, even better..snook, jack crevelle and 100 lb tarpon ARE in the canals..earlier today i hooked an 80-100 lb lunker tarpon in my friend's backyard! the canals are good through winter because the fish will prefer the warmer waters on the inter-coastal.

  • dang i love snook i think there the most game fish ever

  • A snook catching a snook....nice

  • Shouldn't hang weigh a snook that big, it crushes their organs

  • nice fish!

i caught a 40 inch/ 20 pounder in brackish water behind my house which is the farthest you can go up the new river in ft lauderdale if you know where that is. theres also monster tarpon that come back there!

  • Nice! Good job.

    Regards,

    Capt Ben

  • @mgomulka hellz ya man.

  • @mgomulka get those tarpon man they'll put up a tremendous fight

  • double uni all the way

    killer snook Ben

  • That's right.

  • Will this technique work in the mangroves around marco island and cape romano?

  • If you know there are big Snook there, then yes. Give it a shot.

    Regards,

    Capt Ben

  • Now I know what 2 do w/ Ladyfish!

  • Normal fisherman...Go home broke!

    Captain Ben..4.5 seconds....Go figure!

  • what kind of knot(s) do you like to use when joining braid to mono? or do you just stick with a barrel swivel?

  • Devin I really don't like swivels. I use a double braid uni to uni knot.

    Regards,

    Capt Ben

  • I would suggest a surgeons knot.

  • The surgeons knot has a tendency to slip under extreme drag pressure when attached to braided line. We have learned this over time with trial and error.

    Regards,

    Capt Ben

  • Comment removed

  • I just started using braided and tying good knots with it is a chore. So frustrating, I'm about to switch back to mono.

  • how do you scope out a dock or structure to fish? Do you just have a fishy sense so to speak =P. Would finger mullet be an easier caught substitution? considering im just trying to catch a snook, not targeting monsters like yourself. Enlighten me oh great snook god

  • Easy now Devin! I have been very blessed by God to be given the opportunity to fish for and catch these awesome fish. The biggest thing to catching Snook is getting the bait down to them. If your bait is not close they usually won't spend the energy to chase it down and eat it.

    Regards,

    Capt Ben

  • whats good for catching ladyfish

  • We use plain red Jig Heads. They work great on a fast retrieve.

    Regards,

    Capt Ben

  • nice snook got one 22 the other day in sanibel on a lady... keep up the good fishin

  • Awesome!

  • what #test leader were you using? fluoro or mono?

  • 80 Fluro

    Thanks,

    Capt Ben
