I'm 100% Asian residing in Japan now. I don't feel that it's an insult to us Asians when westerners cosplay animanga characters. We cosplayers should cosplay whoever we want to, as long as the passion is there. It's an insult for cosplayers who do it as a hobby. Just because they don't do it well it doesn't mean that they're not allowed to do it. There are a lot of Asians cosplayers who also, aren't very good at cosplaying.

And lol it's not about race that makes a good cosplay. It's about how well the person can wear makeup/how great of an artist the person is. Just as long as they have a similar body type, anyone can cosplay well or bad. :P
By body type I mean more on the lines of if the character is petite and... thin looking and the cosplayer is tall and buff :P
I do agree that people need to stop being racist about this whole thing. I mean if so called 'purists' wanna complain about westerners cosplaying asians, then why not get really picky and ask why they're cosplaying non-asians. I have seen people of all races even asians cosplaying hetalia. But you don't see me complaining that they're dressed as America or Germany. How good a cosplayer looks depends on the suitability of person for the costume (A fat person should probably not play a thin character) and the amount of time, effort and skill that has gone into researching and making the costume.
Race is not an issue provided suitable characters are chosen to cosplay and anime characters do not look like either Asians or Westerners as they have impossible facial proportions for human. (eyes too big, very small nose, small mouth)

This is a really good video, promoting equality. So many Oriental people on this website think they are better than Non-Asians when they are really not because we're all human. The fact I had to sign in to view this just shows that many, many "Asians" (I call them Orientals myself because I speak real English) have a severe inferiority complex and constantly feel the need to prove themselves to us. How good a cosplayer looks depends on the suitability of person for the costume (A fat person should probably not play a thin character) and the amount of time, effort and skill that has gone into researching and making the costume.
Race is not an issue provided suitable characters are chosen to cosplay and anime characters do not look like either Asians or Westerners as they have impossible facial proportions for human. (eyes too big, very small nose, small mouth)

I like what you said at the begining. It brings up an good point that most people would want to be Japanese.
Also to all the idiots who are complaining that kokushiko just chose all the bad asian pictures, that what most of all the people who think only Asians can cosplay do(most of them have probley never been to an Asian country so they never seen real Asian cosplay). Well, I agree, I think some non-Asian people are good at cosplaying. But one thing I don't understand is, that some of the pictures of Asians that you put in here aren't all that fugly... Some of them are actually pretty cute. But thats only my opinion.
I think that people with clear skin do the best cosplays though. Asian or American. But yeah, those two guys do deserve to be punched in the balls.

Posting bad asian pictures is low.. youre just stooping to their level & what the fuck, if youre going to make an argument dont use irrelevant pictures. In the beginning those are random asian girls that have nothing to do with cosplay and aren't even that bad. Some were fine just chubby. How does that make them bad? mhm i get what your saying but they're actually probably enjoying the fact that we're getting mad over this. and they're probably going to continue to talk like ignorant fools. I get your whole argument though. He's only posting eastern asian cosplays/girls. He looks western asian (if he really is asian) and if he claims all asians are beautiful please show some indian, fillipino, etc. cosplays, all I see are oriental ones.

actually,the only thing proudtobeborn asia did was to complain saying i used too small pics...they get mad cuz i'm right.
about the east asians cosplayers,the guys only seem to know Kipi and Sanerken =P.and yes,they ignore how beatiful an indian woman can be(plus they have better bodies than an average japanese girl)

I haven't seen too many Indian women but I've seen many curvy/skinny japanese. So I'm sure there's many of both.

I think this vid is good, loads of people idolize Asian cosplayers when in fact there are bad ones out there people just choose to ignore them. I don't think people really have any right to say who is bad who is good, all that matters is that you feel comfortable and have fun, thats what cosplaying is really about
