MUSLIMS ARE ALWAYS MAKING PROPAGANDA OUT OF THE WESTERN SCIENTIFIC DISCOVERIES. I SIMPLY DON'T BELIVE IN RELIGIONS. THE QURAN SAYS SO MANY UNSCIENTIFIC THINGS. IT SAYS THAT "STARS ARE MISSILES TO SHOOT THE DEVIL", 67:5. THAT "STARS WERE CREATED AS MISSILES TO DEFEND THE HEAVEN FROM DEMONS TRYING TO LISTEN TO THE DIVINE ASSEMBLY", 37:6-8, HA HA.., THAT THERE IS A PLACE WHERE YOU CAN SEE THE SUN SET, AS IF THE EARTH WAS FLAT, 18:83-90. ISLAM IS A DOGMATIC, TYRANICAL RELIGION I DO NOT NEED
How many Arab states use Qur'anic scholars to find oil fields? None. Oil companies based in Texas don't recruit from the Bible colleges either, for the same reason: science for the win! Religion is for losers.
Isam had to to turn its back on science because science would ultimately undermine it - as indeed it does today. All Mohammed did was unite the squabbling tribes by uniting their disparate gods into one god. He then became the prophet his new one god 'required' He made up the Quran as and when needed based upon earlier religious nonsense.The rest is 100's of years of myths and the ever industrious scholar industry. Islam was and remains Mo's great hoax. It is utter nonsense grown into a cult.
Islam held back science once it got the upper hand. The Imams causing the closure of the observatory and burgeoning science and technology in Constantinople is an example.
@jollyradical Al Andalus flourished as a centre of learning despite rather than because of Islam. Once the more fervent Almoravids arrived from North Africa, the scholarly co-operation across the religious divide became a thing of the past. Jews were forbidden from owning scientific books and their communities were attacks. There were Jews in Christian Spain but none in Muslim Granada at the time of it's fall. Christian Norman ruled Sicily was a greater centre of interfaith dialogue.
@rahotep101 Yes that's what happens when moderates are replaced by fanatics. Attacked or not, Jews coexisted in Islamic Iberia for centuries. Christian Spain expelled most Jews and tried to convert the rest. Religion is nonsense of course, but innocuous in and of itself.
One has to give credit for the science that did emerge from the medeival Islamic world. But it has nothing to do with Islam. The conquests by virgin seeking warriors created a large empire where the communication of ideas permeated accross borders. The knowledge of previous cultures fed a small fire of intellectualism during the abbassid period. However, that fire was extinguished when literal reading of the Koran became an institution in Islamic culture and Islam became an empire of stupidity.
I feel bad for Modern Science which is being Hijacked by Islam.

@rahotep101 The same can be said for the Christianity during the dark ages and not for Al Andaluz during the Muslim occupation of Iberia.

@jollyradical That's what happens when lip-service payers are replaced by true believers, in other words.

@rahotep101 That's right.
