  • I think this is actually an arcjet, not an ion engine.

  • what would happen if i touch that?

  • @barbarotico

    Just nothing!

Thanks of the skin effect, the current will flow on the OUTSIDE of your body (as the word itself say, on the skin), the delicate internal organs are not involved!

i touched the sparks of this coil thousand of times without any problems.

PLEASE NOTE THAT NOT ALL TESLA COILS ARE SAFE TO TOUCH, in some of them there is only a partial skin effect so some current can flow inside the internal organs!!!!

This coil was designed to be safe at the touch

  • If there was a way to keep the electricity in the wire until it gets to the end, that thing would spin REALLY fast... The streamers work against the flow of the motor. The shape of the vanes has a lot to do with it too. Many have worked on it and there has only been nominal results. There probably needs to be a magnetic field that condenses the electricity andonly allows it to flow in one direction. THEN it might work good!!! just thinking out loud....

  • why do you let the poor plate get that hot?

  • @ubuntupokemoninc

this is a GU81 with a solid block of pure graphite, not an 833 with a poor metal plate!!!!!

I can run this tube 24h/24 7d/7 at orange-red color withouth any problems!

  • @teslacoiler I bought a gu-81m a while ago and I built a vttc, I love how robust that tube is!!!

  • wonder how many horsepowers it got

  • Good video ! More Tesla Tech in videos "Tesla and cold electricity" by HorizonDelta

  • Too much voltage. Without the ball globe capacitor and spark gaps can a steady glow from the coil be achieved as the Tesla brush discharge.

  • This reminds me so much of "Return to Castle Wolfenstein"

  • the worlds most inefficient motor lol

  • first stage to antigravity .

  • @Cenobite1988

Not exactly an antigravity, but a "lifter" work with a similar principle and is able to generate thrust (and litf itself plus some light payload) without any moving parts

  • Moray Kin: A rotating plasma produces a gravity-vector. Orient the vector away from the Earth's surface and you have levitation, or degravitation, "LIFT-OFF"

  • @optivite

may you can do anything with that

  • @optivite

iam sure that a rotating plasma was used in ancient egypt

  • GU-81M FTW!

  • This engine fails very fast. I don't think this concept will survive ... ;) It's running hot to fast. Maybe a fan could cool this, but this might blow away the plasma... dunno... keep researching, maybe this will grow to an incredible machine or something like that.

    Cheers and Beers! ;)

  • overheating isn't a big problem, the vacuum tube can run continuosly with a red-orange plate, the spinner is made with solid iron and can run for thousand of hours without problems.

but.... again..... this is neither an efficient motor nor a safe apparatus, this is just a beautiful scientific demo dealing with high voltage, high frequency, corona thrust and plasma; in other words is good only for science fairs and public display.

  • @teslacoiler

After awhile of running red you will be able to see right through the plate!!!

    just warning you

  • @ubuntupokemoninc

Dont' worry, the plate is a milled block of pyrolitic graphite without any metals that can be fused by the high temperatures, this tube can run 24h/24 7d/7 with red-orange plate withouth any problems (in another coil i pushed another similar tube to WHITE color many and many times before i get some grid distorsion, anyhow this tube is still works perfectly)

  • @teslacoiler

Anyhow, i have some Xray machine so i don't' need to push the tube over his limits to se through the plate! :-)

  • @vollsuff77 - NASA is using magnets to deflect/shield the heat/sparks and direct the gravity well beam. v=lNda58_Vj80 The B2 bomber also uses electrostatics according to manufacturer news articles, and then there's the Aurora.

  • its a nice toy looks cool

  • Nothing special to be honest, the ion motor is one of the special tricks you can made if you have a tesla coil (or another HV generator capable to produce more than 10.000V)

Is neither powerless (it draw about 1,5kW of electric power) nor overunity (at all! the overall efficiency is less than 0,01%!) , in short term IS NOT FREE ENERGY, just a cool scienntific experiment!

  • im not sure what your doing here, but it looks freaking awesome!
