I believe that Barred rocks are bigger chickens (about 20% bigger than Dominiques ) when fully mature at about a year and a half to two years old , Dominiques lay smaller eggs but are cheaper to feed and if you harvest young roosters will be a little smaller birds for the pot (perfect for a couple or single person though )
Dominiques are wonderful;, you're lucky to have them. We're raising 4 chickens as pets. They're six weeks now. The Dominique is by far the sweetest, most clever and curious of the bunch. We all love her!
Dominickers lay brown eggs and are very self reliant. they have rose combs and yellow feet and legs. They are very geltle and easy going. A great choice for a family farm.
