  • @gongzee it's not just a toy it's a competitive sport

  • seems like a lot of fucking effort for a toy

  • The place is actually called "Ailsa Craig" It's a little island off the west coast, and if I walk about 5 minutes from my house, I can see it across the water :)

  • Well well, we meet again, 240p...

  • at 3:20 the stone looks a bit like a tourque converter

  • Its like canada is activly wanting to get itself made the dumbest country in the world.

  • @zxssded It must be leaking in from the southern border !

  • @zonkercousteau And that Canadian sense of humor must be leaking out the southern border.

  • the most coolest show ever made never gets boring

  • Thumbs up for the kid that almost tripped on his bat

  • I watched the olympics curling and i have one thing to say: those curling chicks are FINE!

  • i wish i was that curling stone.

  • Hey! The island in Scotland (Ailsa Craig) is now for sale! --only 2 and 1/2 million pounds. Hmmm...if only I had a little extra cash..

  • That baseball player threw the bat right in his own path and kicked it twice.

  • more interesting to watch how to make it than watch someone use it!!

  • Just called Canadian Curling Stone Co. Nice people, 10 K new stone :)

  • 2:05 i thought he started to draw something.......

  • wtf i bet only like 20 are sold every yer a

  • Ok now make me ten thousand square chunks and I'll make my house out of that. That granite is awesome.

  • how shit's made?

  • Did anyone else notice how that baseball player almost faceplanted because he was tripping on the bat?

  • Will "How It's Made" will ever show how "How It's Made" is made?

  • @tricesimo they did, sorta

  • @tricesimo Whoa there slick, with that kind of thinking you might break the world. Careful now.

  • @tricesimo how inception is made.

  • @tricesimo reality... collapsing

    Thank you for playi?^SNxQ!.D'`/~"`UFbBzXveaSBl[P&>Z

  • Curling is a sport?! ROFL

  • @prestigen19 It's more fun to watch when you read up on it, and realize how much skill and technique is really involved. It looks silly until you see that it's really difficult.

  • @JonasClark a LOT of things require skill and technique, but this does NOT mean it is a sport.

I enjoy watching every "How it's made" episode though.

  • @prestigen19 Ehh, it's an official Olympic event and considewred a sport by, at the very least, a very large cxountry (Canada), I'd say it qualifies. If it takes technique, skill, work, and has a winner(s) and a loser(s) and the Olympics hold it as an event, I think it qualifies. Just think how silly bowling looks.

  • That quarry is just up the road from here.

  • I want to know how babies are made.

  • 8 people thought Curling Stones just came from the store...

  • @blddk AHAHAHHAA FUNNY!!! not.

  • i thought that guy was going to chop the boulder up...

  • Curling is not as easy as it looks... I failed miserably, I almost went about 6 feet away from the center of the target... I suck at curling... :(

  • LOL watch the kid run with the bat bouncing in front of him LOL 0:15

  • The saw at the quarry was made in Italy...

  • 4:21

    BLAST-IT-ALL

  • Lol, people are scared of what they have never tried.

If you "hate" curling, why are you here watching a video that explains how a curling stone is made? Some people have WAYYY too much time on their hands.

  • Someone, somewhere, has an office full of of some really cool shit all engraved "How It's Made". LOVE this show. Never boring.

  • @gypsylor I always ask where the stuff they make with how its made on it goes lol x

  • @gypsylor that would be my father o-o

a rock has "How its made!" engraved on it XD

and posted he drew all over o-e

  • Wow, lots of whiners here.

  • waste of granitte

  • *they're

  • and I thought it was a gravel/sand filled plastic circular container (polishing technique)...didnt realize it was solid stone...cool

  • EPIC 8) !!!1!!!!!11!! 733t

  • Curling = Scrubbing the toilet floor

  • Curling is awesome. Watching it is unbearable, but playing it Is alot of fun.

  • lol at :18 he manages to run and keep the bat under his feet all the way to 1st base...

  • BEST SHOW EVER

  • Curling is reatarded. Don't believe me? Look up best curling shot ever with Jennifer Jones and watch that hilariousness ensue....lol

  • The correct name for the source of Scottish granite is AILSA Craig - NOT Alissa Craig

  • Would make ideal wheels for the new stone bike I just invented

  • Curling...the most extreme sport ever!

  • "How Curling Stones are Made?" You might want to take a grammar class.

  • @cubeMaster018 its fucking youtube, nobody gives a damn about grammar.

  • @KODAKGUYNUMBER1 that's exactly the problem, Dr. Ironic.

  • @theonlyred4 Well then u need to teach every person on youtube perfect grammar, or have ur own video website were everyone is perfect at spelling. U sure as hell wont see me using perfect grammar on youtube, or anywhere else where grammar is at the ass end of things.

  • @KODAKGUYNUMBER1 Only reason it's at the ass end of things is because of halfwitted bullfucks like you. You're like the spoiled brat who bitches when things don't go his way, failing to acknowledge the source of the problem is that things usually do.

Moreover, if you get to be annoying by making grammatical mistakes, then you should also permit grammatically-inclined YouTubers to annoy you in return.

  • @theonlyred4 First of all, i have never heard of the word bullfuck so that doesn't effect me too much. You obviosly have no idea of what a spoiled brat is either. i have always had to work for my money. When things dont go my way, oh well theres not much i can do about, i dont bitch about it like you probably do. And another thing, did you think of that comment yourself?

  • they need that many curling stones?

  • curling is so boring to watch. i'm not saying it's a stupid game, i'm saying it's boring.

  • 4:22 looks like the dude is playing a video game called "blast-it-all" XD

  • I hat those campy puns they always say

  • @macroevolve try to spell first

  • janitors game.....

  • I like watching curling and listening to team mates yell their heads off! It must be great for grudges! It's fun to watch!

  • holy shit, it isn't just me! How it's mad really is a stoner show. You ever try to watch this stuff not high? it's okay if boring, but after a joint it's soooooo awesome.

  • @CSLFiero Yes.. Lets all listen to the 12 year old who thinks its cool to smoke Weed

  • @ThatAdelaideGuy whoever let the arsetralian on the internet needs to be prisoned.

  • @CSLFiero Your mom should be prisoned for not aborting you

  • @Robinhood12347 lol fucked up

  • curling is such a fun sport to play....HAAAAAARD HAAAAAAAAARD

  • That is a skilled shot at the beginning.

  • I'm surprised the funny American didn't say Scotland, England :)

  • @vanepico

This show is a Canadian production... We know better than those Yankees...

  • @synthguitarist Excuse my ignorance :) I knew the how its made thing was canadian, i assumed it was and american voice over for the american viewing.

  • @synthguitarist You live on the same land mass you inbred wood creature

  • Thank you for posting this excellent clip! I haven't curled in a few years but watching this makes me want to so much more! I often wondered what went into making these.

However, I heard that Ailsa Craig has closed down and it's now a wildlife refuge... maybe some form of agreement could be made to get the quarry running again...! There's only so much curling granite.

    Yes, the rocks ARE beautiful.

  • Curling have to be the greatest sport in the world!

  • that would be soccer my friend thats why its called the world sport just in northamerica that people dont get it or hate it

  • @Alonsovid204

No, curling is the best "sport" or whatever you want to call it.. In curling, everything is based on teamwork, and i like that

  • I like that too! It is all teamwork and communication. I love curling and I play it,the sport!

  • I LOVE HOW ITS MADE

  • it says there were mined in scotland and Whales? I couldn't hear it well the quality sucks...

  • It's Wales....

  • I just love that show! It's cool to get to know stuff like that.

  • I don't even curl and I just want to HAVE a curling stone that nice.

  • @ReginaldMaulding

I agree. These things are so well crafted and just have an extraordinary look to them, it would be nice just to own one for novelty purposes.

  • Omg, this is the video i have been looking for!! so exiting

  • i love how its made.greetings from turkey.

  • How It's Made is the best goddamn show ever.

  • I agree about the show and ur handle had me laughing out loud like a fool in front of my PC. lol!

  • @PerkyMcPerkypants that and mythbuster

  • @PerkyMcPerkypants nah its three stooges then, how its made

  • those stones are so beautiful

  • Wow, that is so interesting.

  • that is more interesting than the sport. #justsaying

  • @surfergirl27 agreed

  • @surfergirl27 This isn't twitter. #justsaying

  • hahahah!

  • i more interested by this than actually watching curling

  • I wonder how it was made when curling was first invented in the 16th century. Certainly not this way

  • the curling stones we see are a relatively new thing. In the EARLY days, they were just river stones with crude handles bolted into them. Over the years curling stones were made out of melted cannon balls (looked like disks), wooden stones with an iron band, and "flat irons".

  • I wonder when the ailsa craig will dissapear lol

  • that was cool

  • get granite from the moon geez

  • What now?! were going to Alberta Winter Games for curling take that!!!! mwahaha

  • while i agree that you could waste your energy sweeping streets instead, there's sports that are much worse for the envionment

  • omg how dangerous does that press look at 3:48. good until it takes your head off

  • yea i was thinking that as well. wounder how many times the spring shot out lol

  • @ausdude31 i know this is an old post but ya. they definately need some sort of safety mechanism for the spring. a rod or something thru the middle of it.

  • We aren't running out of rocks--get a life

  • @Srd1126

One of the quarries that they get the granite from is already shut down.

  • stone quarries shut down all the time, but new ones open. Plus the earth keeps making more rocks all the time.

  • @Srd1126

Do you know Why they had to make the stone out of this material?

  • Just from what I saw in the video. What's your point?

  • yeah, it's much more socially positive to use homophobic slurs

  • If you want to whine about stupid games that destroy the environment, perhaps you should start with NASCAR and leave the poor curlers alone...

  • Or better yet: golf.

  • @2bn00b: Can't I just whine about both? :)

  • @2bn00b i'm not a big fan of curling, and i love racing. But indeed, this is a better sport than racing naturewise :)

  • I love curling!

@ DMB1985CA - Curling is great and not for freaks.

@guesswhoimcool - They're WAY more than $100! Low grade stones start at $500 and high grade stones can be $1500 per set of 8 stones. They certainly are not cheap!

  • how much does it cost for one of these things?

  • im not sure but it alot...(i think hehehe) yeah um even tho i do curl i never even thought about how much they cost...wow alot of money for our club...16 rocks per sheet and we have 4 sheets...16x4=64 and lets say they costed 100 dollars wow 6400(if they are 100 dollars) anyway if u read this thanks u and if u dont i dont care if u did or not i just go on and on about random stuff! :)

  • what the hell? :=S

  • Hey gimme all the worn out ones I'll pave my driveway.

  • i wonder how much stuff fills the "How it's made" offices.

  • Curling doesn't suck you shit rags!! I bet you'd suck at it if you even tried it.

  • funny sports

  • Have you ever played it ?! What sports do u play ?!

  • ahh so many diamonds.

  • heh

  • I know how to play curling and now I know how they're made! Cool! CCOH rocks!

  • LOL at 0:17 , the batter kicks his bat twice.

  • hahaha

  • curling is awesome

    im so competitive at it

  • I never knew curling required such high technology! Why not just use some kind of modern cement and plastic coating for impact resistance.

Oh well, if its making jobs for Scots, then I am happy.

  • I Love watching a Match.

  • At 0:52 Rub That Ice With Those Brooms !

  • IT'S A CURLING STONE DAY! -George Harrison

  • So its just a stone :S

  • Fascinating. This is one of my favourite shows. I had no idea how curling stones were made, but I know it's a hard sport. I tried it last night for the first time in 21 years. I fell over while delivering a stone, and snapped my broom in half in the process. My friend fell earlier in the game and broke his collarbone.

Our team played 3 games, and never scored any points.

My first rock delivery travelled only 20 feet. :-/

  • sounds like yu had fun

  • my dad should be buried with a curling stone because he's 85 curls once a week and loves it

  • thats a weird sport..

  • Standing next to a compressed spring is pretty darn stupid.

  • Maybe he is told to stay there. But I hope not.

  • That sure doesn't look like a modern way to do that particular job...why not just use a smaller hydraulic directly on the stone? That thing flies and you're dead!

  • ahsure, that would have been considered a stupid way of doing it 100 years ago too ;)

but the reason they use the spring is because direct pressure from the hydraulic ram can crack the stone, so the spring dampens the force.

a better way of doing that would be to have the spring inside a metal guide tube so only 2 inches on either side are exposed, that way if it does slip its not coming out the side and taking your guts out

  • Boy, I would hate to have that stone fly out of the chuck!

  • I suppose americans do say scotland funny... even though the narrator is Canadian

  • canada is a part of america

  • hehe, i love the way how Americans say 'Scotland' =]

  • Ouch...

There go my plans to build a backyard curling rink...lol

  • LOL, you thought it was just a stone and couple of sand papers, eh? well, so did i :P

  • Not really, I just didn't think it was 200$ each stone

  • I wonder how much it costs to make one curling stone...

  • I don't know, but it costs almost $200 to buy one.

  • "combination of shuffleboard, billiards, and bowling on ice." The narrator forgot CHESS!
