If you listen closely, you'll see that there is a big difference in the way 'Big C' and 'Sons of Westwood' are played, particularly at the 15 to 22 second in this video. I wonder why this is.

I'm a Cal fan, but in defense to the UCLA crowd, I'd take 80-100 loyal fans who actually have a connection to the school rather than "4-5 sections" of classless, bandwagon fans. Also, having a sister who went to UCLA, a brother who went to USC, and me from Cal (all of us have musical backgrounds), we ALL agree that UCLA's band has a better sound and instrumentation than the Trojan Band. And most importantly, class. In fact, I think all the PAC-10 bands would agree that TMB needs class.

They were playing at the Greek Theater before the Cal-UCLA football game. Most of the attendees are individuals who were not admitted to Cal and ultimately attended UCLA, as is common among UCLA students. Still, you can see that attendance is sparse, with the band and cheerleaders outnumbering everybody else. USC must be getting more popular for Cal rejects.

Actually, UCLA receives the most applications in the nation.Most students go to UCLA because they want to, not because they were rejected by Cal. Many people, myself included, were admitted to both schools. But UCLA is just a better institution.

Indeed, UCLA does receive the most applications in the nation, but Cal has a lower acceptance rate and admits less students overall. Cal is not for everybody. That's why the southern branch is a good choice for many. The "better institution" claim is cute. Keep on believing it; maybe it will be true someday.
