  • Interesting! You poured out the juices of the shawarma, don't you use the good juices for another dish ? Is it possible to do this ?

    Thanks!

  • @spionkillen you can reduce the juices and pour over the shawarma to keep them moist

  • about $ 50 cents in the philippines :) i love shawarma:)

  • I'm preparing this as we speak. I have a feeling it will be better than all the Shawerma I ever had in my entire life. Thank you for keeping it mega simple

  • @etaifour2 i agree :)

  • kill it with fire

  • @sikkwitit42 interesting

  • i like the baking style, steps laid out well, as a licensed chef myself i know that measuring rarely gets done in a kitchen but your half cups looked a bit steep, 3/4's maybe, and the hair you need to stop playing with your hair, with that aside no one can argue with results and you produced great results. i would hire you for my restaurant as a trainer after watching this, just stop playing with your hair lol

  • @ouellette666 lol, yes i know, i always tie my hair up but making videos and try to look good while doing it is a bit difficult :)

  • my family and friends loved ur shawarma and me to :) thank u sooo much

  • @kash4420 that's wonderful, thanks so much :)

  • I like some fine diced tomato in my mix with parsley

  • @ROSKER48 great idea, you can definitely do that :)

  • i love shawerma ! you can get shawerma in malaysia for 2 $

  • @prave99 wow that's cheap :)

  • Mmm delish :) ur right, shawarma is expensive, I usually pay $6 for one, it is pretty big, but still it's expensive, but delicious. I'll try it out :)

  • @idunnowat2use99 perfect, you will get addicted :)

  • mmmmm beef shawarma :3

  • OMG... seriously , you save my life

im gonna die without SHAWARMA, you are my herooooo

i thought its too hard to make but THANK YOU you make really easy to make at home

  • @AlKhairOliveOil wonderful, give it a try, you'll love it :)

  • god damn youtube .. why i can't taste this ..

  • @UltimateRevenger youtube should make taste-o-vision.

  • @richard833 Great idea :)

  • it looks like a great sandwich and i am sure it tastes great (i've eaten lots of them before), but it is not practical because it does not conform to the minimalist standards of the industrial American world. Good job though.

  • @cageybee777 i'm sure you'll enjoy my recipe :)

  • @dedemed I am 100% sure that I would absolutely love it :) I liked all of your recipes.

  • hi dede

one more thing is tahini like tzatziki?

the shawarma that we have here has tzatiziki sauce

  • @amanboy tahini sauce is made with ground sesame seeds but the tzatziki is made with yogurt, it all depends on what you like, they both taste great with shawarma :)

  • mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

  • Shawarma is my favorite...I'll definitely try this at home.

    Thanks for posting this.

    Greetings from the Philippines ^_^

  • @amanboy you are very welcome :)

  • can you get tanihi sauce at any local grocery store

  • @veedabestchef usually yes :)

  • Super!!! I wish I can skip the 4 hrs marinating...

  • @rubbubbel marinating really helps to tenderize the meat and adds so much flavor :)

  • I can't have enough Shawarma, I always buy at least two (or 4 if I take it home with me. haha). Although, here in the Philippines, they serve it with chili sauce along with some of that white sauce. The toppings also include slices of cucumber to add to the contrast of flavors.

  • @Zhaquiri Here in Holland we serve it mostly with a garlic-yoghurtsauce or a spicey tomato-onion sauce. Served with lettuce.

But I'm definitely gonna try out your recipe dedemed, looks tasty!

  • @dkyx wonderful! :)

  • the Tahini Sauce is also called Taratore right?

  • @tightvers2 correct :)

  • @dedemed HI IM A NEW SUB AND LUV UR VIDS...COULD YOU PLEASE SHOW US HOW TO DO THE MICHOUI AND ALSO THE PITA BREAD FROM SCRATCH? THANK YOU...XOXO

  • @MRCM78 SO welcome, try starting a cooking group so each night 1 person cooks for all :)

  • So good :) I was born in Bahrain - lived in Jeddah...miss that country, and shawarmas were so good!!! 2 Riyals a go...I found a place in the UK that does them - except they're about 38 Riyals a go..

Thank you for posting this vid :))

  • @maxchina09 You are very welcome :)

  • mm i havent had one in years thanx for the recipe!!!!

  • yummy i'll be making this tomorrow`

thanks for the recipe and your good looks

  • nice work done dede(Y)..doing great:)

  • thanks :)

  • I wanted to eat more healthy so I tried making the shawarma with whole wheat pita.

I suck at wrapping, so my pita always falls apart or tears.

I've tried warming the pita first to make it pliable, but to no avail.

I'm starting to wonder if maybe whole wheat pita is no good for shawarmas

  • I've learned that with rolling pita you need to use fresh pita that has not yet been refrigerated. Keep the pita in an airtight bag and it should be good for rolling for about a week or so. Hope this helps :)

  • I know what you mean about the commercial pita breads out there.. they are hard and tough.. but I've learned that if you spray them on each side with Pam or rub with vegetable oil, then lightly grill in a saute pan on medium heat, they soften up really nicely.. toss often to avoid charring.. then you are then able to fold and roll with no problems.. hope this helps..

  • Great video, I enjoyed it ...but you should really pull ur hair back

  • I have done so in the new videos, you live you learn my friend :)

  • I had no idea some people called it kabees! In Egypt we call it lift

  • Lift is the red one (and we call it Kabees Lift)

Kabees is the cucumber, we call it Mkhallal too

or if you prefer it in Egyptian, it is called Torshi ;)

  • i am comming over for lunch

  • Excellent work, i have been trying to not only cook, but wrap a shawarma in the traditional style of most restaurants. Your work looks spectacular and i bet, it tastes as good as it looks.

  • ok people you know what geos soo good with the shawarma garlic sauce . just spread them on the bread and add the rest and yummmmm soo goood. by the way garlic is the best im a big fan lol

  • i am sooooo with you on that, i even sent Dede a message asking how to make it, yumm dont remind me...

  • Hi Dede,

Is it okay if I cook it using a pan instead of the oven. I am just learning how to cook actually.hehe. Still planning to mix it with rice though ad a garlic sauce. I'm just crazy about your garlic sauce recipe.

  • great idea! :)

  • what was that ingredient at 00:35 please?

  • sumac, it is a spice, you can purchase on my site. YOu can also get the written recipe on my site :)

  • not only are you a wonderful cook u are very pretty!

  • thank you :)

  • madam r u arabian

  • I am American Lebanese

  • shouldnt there be any hummus in it?

  • Yes, you can add hummus in the sandwich or just the tahini sauce, whatever you like :)

  • yeah the shawerma was not bad at all as a home made shawerma , thank you for the reciepe

  • wonderful!

  • ok , lets see if its really gonna be shawerma or something else , i am cooking it now and 'll let you know if i made it good or not .thank you for the reciepe

  • I hope your shawarma turned out good, let me know :)

  • what is sumak? that spice you used. and can you cook this without it? can i use the same recipe for chicken or lamb?

  • sumac, is a dried berry that is sour and is ground up to add more flavor. You can order it on my site. Yes you can use this recipe for chicken or lamb too :)

  • OMG! how can you give out the shawerma secrets like that! ...mazeh

    thank you

  • lol...:)

  • Could you please post a video on how to make a Chicken Shawarma? Thank you Dede

  • I will add it to the list to make. Check out my website listed on the right hand info box :)

  • i love your coking but it will be better if you write the ingredients under info and wish you have more clear camer and if you can get close to the food so we know how it look like.

  • the recipes are written out on my website, the info is in the grey info box on the right hand side of the screen, hope you visit :)

  • very yumy ..can you please make (Torshee ) thank you

  • Thanks for this tutorial. I always wondered how to make real shawarma. I like mine with lettuce, tomato/cucumber slices, red onions and chilisauce. Those rolls are normally wrapped in tin foil and sold as durum rolls. Pita breads are normally smaller, cheaper and not served as a roll. Most restaurants here don't use filet but rather some sort of compressed minced beef on a stick. I don't really like veal either - I wan't filet! Roast and spicy filet! Yummy...

  • hey you are awesome I impressed all our friends here in Louisville KY.thanks

  • Thank you so much for the recepie a friend went to the sudan for 4 months and he has been craving Shawarma so this is exciting cause I can make it for him!

  • I'm glad I could be of help :)

  • This looks amazing,,,,,I could never find a good Shawarma in Phoenix and I am sorry but Gyros is not the same. So, thank you very much for the recipe

  • No problem, yes I know of the lack of good shawarma in Phoenix, one day you'll be able to get a good sandwich anywhere :)

  • yummy

  • dede, I want you to show me how to make shakreya, or laban ommo please. Thank you may allah bless you and your family.

  • dedemed my first time watching this and you did a great job. I will try some off these recipes since i love this type off food. I had a ? i live in toronto and every swarma or kebab place i go to they sell philly cheese steaks which are soo good. They add a twist to the philly cheese steaks which taste soo delicious. Maybe if u get a chance please do show us how that's done. Keep up the good work.:)

  • Well you can use this recipe and just add cheese, and sauteed onions and mushrooms in a nice steak roll :)

  • Great recipe, Thank you!!

  • am from saudi arabia the shawerma is my life man :P .. i rely like it :)

  • watching this video at 2am is not a good idea... I am HUNGRY

  • That's a great lesson, thank you I'm sure it tastes great! I can't wait to try it myself. Do you know a recipe for za3tar? I can't find it anywhere in the United States. Thanks!

    Peace

  • I have never made zaatar from scratch but you can buy it from my website under the store link, I sell many different spices there :)

  • I think she/he means with za3tar the one like pizza (mana2eesh) not spices , I also would like to learn how to make it..by the way, thank you for your videos .

  • I thought people put yogurt in the marinade , is that just for some recipes? I made chicken shawarma and was told to put low fat yogurt in it.

  • yes you can definitely add 1/2 cup of yogurt to the shawarma or shish tawook marinade, that is optional, it helps to tenderize and it adds a little bit of zest to the dish.

  • im fasting n craaving shawarma!

    MMM..

  • Does this taste the same as the one that's cooked on the turning stand or is there any difference?

  • It's tastes pretty close but not exactly the same. Try it, I'm sure you'll love it :)

    HAPPY COOKING!

  • do u make a tahini paste by yourself or buy from the store tell me please

  • thank you so much for such a nice recipe .

  • you're welcome

    HAPPY COOKING!

  • DEDE! this is the weirdest but good recipe for a shawerma sandwich. YOu should see how they do it in ramallah. i would kill for a ramallah shawerma sandwich.

  • I'm sure they make great sandwiches as well :)

  • you'll love it!

  • DEDE excellent video Shawerma is one of my personal favorite foods. Also as a tip a lot of places slice a kosher pickle thinly in to strips and put it in the sandwich. Also hot sauce is a common condiment

  • I agree, I love pickles and hot sauce.

  • I can't wait to try this. I don't mind saying your husband is a very lucky man!

  • Hi Thanx So much for this recipe... i was wondering where can i get the 7 spices... which store do you recommend?? Thankss

  • I would prefer to use garlic sauce.

I could imagine the taste of it being in the sandwich.

Also hummus would be nice, to dip the sandwich in.

    The SHAWARMA SANDWICH looks fantastic!!

  • looks like a gyro. :o

  • They are very similar foods :)

  • They look yummy! i definately have to try one. Where do you get your pita bread? everytime I buy pita bread its always too small to do stuff like that.

  • Well I'm in California so I buy them from a Middle Eastern Store. I would suggest you google Mediterranean or Middle Eastern store and you can find the closest one to you, Good Luck :)
