@DoubleOShadow What do you think would be a better term then? "Equalists" perhaps? I'm being serious, as a "female feminist" I am strongly for the EQUAL rights of ALL genders. You made an interesting point, the term does somewhat imply superiority, which defeats the true cause.
I have had an interest in men's rights since I was in junior high when I got into an argument with a teacher over these pins everyone was made to wear for Violence Against Women. I can't remember exactly what went down, but I took issue because it implied all men were responsible for it in some way and I refused to wear it because I asserted I wasn't responsible and neither were most of the boys I knew in that school.
So I'm subbing the hell out of you. Looking forward to more.
@MntlWard ha! that remains to be seen. Maybe i'll do some videos on mens right for atheist men who fight for evolution and make some idiot's head explode.
@WhyKeepPiranhas The reason for more deaths in the workplace are because more males work in jobs in manufacturing, logging, and other trades where as there isn't that many trade workers that are female im quite sure.
It's weird. You remind me so much of LatumWay, and yet your accent and his seem to be a touch bit different. That may be my imagination though, since I'm no expert on the various British accents. Anyway, I've decided to sub to your video's, since I'm curious to hear what you have to say.
tag rugby was the fucking shit! fuck you and everything you stand for, also i never complained about playing against girls in school "oops! I'm sorry, i seem to have missed your tag and accidentaly grabbed your, well yeah sorry but may i remind you that this was a total accident".
On a serious note, I don't disagree that men can be discriminated against, but I think it's in a different way than women are discriminated against. It's more like a weird form of self-oppression, the way men are "supposed" to act, think, dress (I want a man to be able to walk around in a dress without being attacked), and feel.
There is sexism towards both males and females. The reason YOU see a lot towards males is due to the era you live in. There will never be a balance, not during our lifetime, anyway. I look forward to the porn discussions though. :P It's one of my favorite topics.
Ironically, my fiancee and I were discussing some of these men's issues earlier this evening. Definitely a topic worth discussing, I am looking forward to your videos. :)
I'd actually be quite interested in this kind of discussion, I agree that in many areas Men are being discriminated against that need to be looked into. Not that there aren't still problems to be faced by women, but just because there are issues to faced that doesn't mean that these issues shouldn't be addressed.
RationalWiki just happened to pick up this topic of male-directed sexism, and I had to point out that a lot of the sexism against men that a particular person brought up are actually instigated by men against men. The low reports of sexual assault by women against men is primarily driven by the notion that men have to keep weakness hidden. Still, women earn less than men... it doesn't make things equal, but shit sucks for both genders, and focusing on only men is just as bad as focusing on women
@Looperberg "Pussy" is not a complex term. It's comparing someone to a vagina in a negative context. That's not difficult to understand. Seriously, this is like Feminism 101.
"Women ARE weaker than men" - is there a point to his non-sequitur? The strength of a punch doesn't make it more or less illegal or change the intent behind it. The point was that a man taking a punch from ANY woman regardless of their relative strength means he's weak because OMG A WOMAN HIT HIM!!!
Man, I'm SO glad you made this video! I've thought the same things for quite a while and I've always hated how women get favoritism because of feminism and our culture doesn't even acknowledge that in many ways, it's biased against men, probably more so than women at this point in history.
@DoubleOShadow Right, which is why women make less money than men, why women are underrepresented in the upper levels of pretty much all professional careers, why poverty hits women harder than it does men, it's why 1 in 6 women has been raped but rape reporting, charging and conviction rates are incredibly low, and women's experiences are devalued or otherwise dismissed in preference to those of men. Need I go on?
@inuyashaxx Yeah, it's totally not more common for women to work part time and take care of kids than it is for men to do the same. Because of how our society is shaped is why women generally make less money and aren't in the upper levels of careers, since most women generally WANT to be the ones to look after the kids. Women that don't want to do that ARE in positions of power and/or making just as much, or more money than men. And perhaps rape isn't reported because it's RAPE!
@DoubleOShadow Also, men get raped too, it just doesn't happen as often because most rapists are men, and when the male rapists do go after their own gender, they usually go after little boys. Men's experiences are sometimes devalued in preference to women's, btw. Just look at child custody, women largely get the better deal. It goes both ways, but we've had civil rights movements for women, and they've lead to some of the problems with civil rights for men. Feminists generally want superiority.
Feminists want equality. Very few people who label themselves as feminists want female supremacy. (As a guy) I would consider myself a feminist, and I certainly don't.
@curiousmind5632 Ok sorry about the confusion, i said feminists generally want superiority, and i'd say the majority of them do. I didn't mean to imply that I think all of them are like that, I just ran out of room so I couldn't clarify. I still don't like the term feminist though, because it isn't really a good word for people wanting equality.
@DoubleOShadow It's like calling people who want gays to get equal rights homosexualists. People shouldn't focus on boosting up one group's rights but making all persons' rights equal.
Was that MRA bit a joke? Your examples of "male oppression" are women making fun of/"hitting" men? Last I checked, a woman that beats up a man can still be charged with assault. Are there institutional and social restrictions on male behavior? Yes, and the feminists I know (including myself, and I'm a man) spend time talking about how sexism and misogyny hurts everyone. However, I don't pretend that any problems I face as a man are comparable to those faced by women.
@inuyashaxx yes a woman can be charged of assault for hitting a man, but consider this...
she is less likely to be reported than a man is,
she is less likely to be charged,
she is less likely to be sentenced,
the sentence is likely to be less severe.
also, there are restrictions on mens behaviour, i'm gonna get to that is future videos. its true that sexism and misogyny hurts everyone, so does misandry.
@WhyKeepPiranhas Most of things you mentioned are byproducts of a misogynist culture. The restrictions on male behavior are overwhelmingly related to gender roles. In these cases where a woman hits a man, his experience isn't diminished because society is blaming it on something inherently wrong with men. It's based on the fact that he let a (weaker) woman hit him, that he's complaining (like women do), and that he needs to "man up" and not be a "pussy". All of that is based in misogyny.
@inuyashaxx A woman who hits a man won't be villified anywhere near as much as a man who hits a woman. Violence is violence, regardless of the gender of the perpetrator and victim. But look at the way the media portrays violence against men differently. Are there still major injustices against women? Yes. Do situations exist where men are treated unjustly? Absolutely. Take a look at parental rights in the UK. But people aren't having their consciousness raised about it.
you are cute, srry i just had to say that. Anyways, I often see this in many countries around the world in the news, television ect. but no one ever acknowledges it. Its like they just ignore it. I look forward to your future videos.
The issue of mangendequality (TM) (lol) is an orphan child of the times, looking for a home and family. You have chosen wisely and I'm sure you will make a fine parent. I have some issues in this area myself, so you can count on me to stick around.
I know you said you and your brother weren't necessarily alike, but I could swear I'm watching him. You both have very similar mannerisms (at least in front of a camera).
PS: Does your sister have a Youtube channel? I want to subscribe to the whole collection.
I loved the little guitar bit at the end. Maybe you should make that your signing off...thing. The subjects you want to talk about sound interesting. Why keep piranhas? Why the hell not? : )
I realy like the idea of your channel. It is a topic that isn't nearly as often talked about as it should. The sad part is that often man that talk about men being discriminated are called sexist by some feminist extremists. It's the same thing with talking about black racists etc.
At this rate of undress, you should be completely naked before your 10th video. This seems like a channel I can get behind. Jacob has a lot of gay fans, so do expect plenty of judgments about your appearance. As this is the internet, expect plenty of twincest references, too.
I think "protect the poor helpless women!" ideas do a lot of harm to both men and women. Also, advertiser are just assholes all around. They play on the us. vs. them in order to sell stuff.
I'm no mens rights activist, but I'm very aware of the gender gap and gender inequity in society. I'll probably throw together a video response to explain my exact position, because the response box just isnt big enough.
Hmm... I guess I've never thought much about the issues with sexism directed at men. Probably because I'm a woman. I guess that makes me pretty hypocritical considering I consider myself an equality activist. Sounds like you'll provide some pretty good information.
My mum is always saying sexist things about men and refuses to acknowledge it or even recognise that sexism is possible if women aren't the victim. She says things like "all men are sexist" with no understanding of the irony in that statement. When I try to point it out to her, she just says "but they are!"
why aren't we pushing for equall employment in the sex industry area?? i think it should be 50/50 male female strippers if we are pushing for equall employment for the sexes.
@johnnyd101 The problem is demand, there's just not a lot of demand for male strippers. Honestly, I'm not gay so maybe a gay man would have a different opinion of this then me, but honestly, one of the funniest things I've ever seen is a troupe of male strippers striping to bad opera. If you wanted to get to a 50/50 men women stripper ratio, the only real way to do it is to fire a whole lot of women strippers.
why are you making such a mystery out of where your channel name comes from? that better be something deep and intellectual, otherwise i don´t understand why you wouldn´t have explained it already.
Sign offs are good, they solve the problem of ending videos with a kind of... Sort of... Trailing off type thing... Where it's a bit awkward... And you can't figure out what to say...
I'll stick around because this is is a subject that has been bugging me for a while. For instance, as a 19 year old student it is a hundred times harder to get an un educated job then it would be if I was a girl
@ThatsMrFrank "Doofy husband" adverts have been criticized as sexist by feminists in the past, including in a segment of Target Women by Sarah Haskins of the same name, along with "stupid husband/smart wife" sitcoms. Why haven't you seen those critiques? I'd think that if you wanted to make a blanket statement like that, you'd do a little research first...
I think your opinions will be awesome! Porn is always an awesome topic. I think you should talk about how women think that chivalry is still necessary but at teh same time they want equal rights.
@TehPwnXor Probably because there are women that aren't feminists. No feminist I know says "men and women are equal, but you still need to open my door for me".
Glad to see you back! I'll stick around, at least for a while. I doubt men's rights issues will capture my interest that much, but I'm willing to listen. The guitar interludes should hold my interest, as well as your take on "world events" and philistine views on film or whatever.
Excellent idea for a channel. I've noticed a lot of people over the last few days posting about the whole Womens Day and Women for Women International thing on the interwebz so I think you may have picked a good time to bring this topic up. Also, I hope you know Jacobs circle of friends do include a lot of crazy drama loving feminists. And I mean crazy. Hope you're prepared.
@WhyKeepPiranhas Well, 'circle of friends' was a bad choice of words. But I do mean people in the 'atheist community' that might be subscribed to him (not sure if they are.) iremythpurr, SaelPalani, Divinity etc. I'm kind of looking forward to seeing a bit of debating if it happens.
btw there was double editing...

MrKn1ght 11 months ago
@MrKn1ght it was actually a stripped down version of through the fire and the flames by dragonforce.

Nice try, everyone already knows Dragon Force just does a series of Inspector Gadget covers.

why aren't we pushing for equall employment in the sex industry area?? i think it should be 50/50 male female strippers if we are pushing for equall employment for the sexes.
johnnyd101 11 months ago
@johnnyd101 The problem is demand, there's just not a lot of demand for male strippers. Honestly, I'm not gay so maybe a gay man would have a different opinion of this then me, but honestly, one of the funniest things I've ever seen is a troupe of male strippers striping to bad opera. If you wanted to get to a 50/50 men women stripper ratio, the only real way to do it is to fire a whole lot of women strippers.
RomeoCo 11 months ago
@johnnyd101 if there is demand for it, go for it.

Cool you have kept me interested. I'll stay subbed.

Are you the EVIL twin or the GOOD twin
MikaelDryden 11 months ago
why are you making such a mystery out of where your channel name comes from? that better be something deep and intellectual, otherwise i don´t understand why you wouldn´t have explained it already.

@aednil it's just longwinded, bare with me.

Men's rights sounds good. I'd like to see videos on that. :-)

@VaanGov my brother diagrees
WhyKeepPiranhas 11 months ago
@WhyKeepPiranhas FUCK YOUR BROTHER! Not literally.
Sign offs are good, they solve the problem of ending videos with a kind of... Sort of... Trailing off type thing... Where it's a bit awkward... And you can't figure out what to say...
Gosu117 11 months ago
Have you intentionally done this sitting and looking from the other side that your bro does, or was it accidental ?
chthonios 11 months ago
I'll stick around because this is is a subject that has been bugging me for a while. For instance, as a 19 year old student it is a hundred times harder to get an un educated job then it would be if I was a girl
Retlaww 11 months ago
Don't forget genital integrity, and intactivism! Circumcision being the BIGGEST male rights violation imo.
windigo77 11 months ago
and how on every advert, its always a man using some crap product, and a woman owning him, and then him looking stupid.
if it were the other way around, its sexist.
ThatsMrFrank 11 months ago
@ThatsMrFrank "Doofy husband" adverts have been criticized as sexist by feminists in the past, including in a segment of Target Women by Sarah Haskins of the same name, along with "stupid husband/smart wife" sitcoms. Why haven't you seen those critiques? I'd think that if you wanted to make a blanket statement like that, you'd do a little research first...

you're damn right!
"its worse to hit a girl.....but...girls are definitely as strong as men...."
I look forward to how your videos will be going :)
ThatsMrFrank 11 months ago
This could either be really interesting or really chauvinistic. Either way, I'll stay tuned for at least a while.
waltonky 11 months ago
@waltonky i'm well aware that women still have issues to face. i'm just taking about the one men face because very few people else seem to be.
WhyKeepPiranhas 11 months ago
I think your opinions will be awesome! Porn is always an awesome topic. I think you should talk about how women think that chivalry is still necessary but at teh same time they want equal rights.
TehPwnXor 11 months ago
@TehPwnXor Probably because there are women that aren't feminists. No feminist I know says "men and women are equal, but you still need to open my door for me".
inuyashaxx 11 months ago
Glad to see you back! I'll stick around, at least for a while. I doubt men's rights issues will capture my interest that much, but I'm willing to listen. The guitar interludes should hold my interest, as well as your take on "world events" and philistine views on film or whatever.
awreslr2 11 months ago
Excellent idea for a channel. I've noticed a lot of people over the last few days posting about the whole Womens Day and Women for Women International thing on the interwebz so I think you may have picked a good time to bring this topic up. Also, I hope you know Jacobs circle of friends do include a lot of crazy drama loving feminists. And I mean crazy. Hope you're prepared.
Psyence1987 11 months ago
@Psyence1987 jacob says that not true. which ones do you mean?
WhyKeepPiranhas 11 months ago
@WhyKeepPiranhas Well, 'circle of friends' was a bad choice of words. But I do mean people in the 'atheist community' that might be subscribed to him (not sure if they are.) iremythpurr, SaelPalani, Divinity etc. I'm kind of looking forward to seeing a bit of debating if it happens.
Psyence1987 11 months ago
I'm looking forward to watch your videos.
Also, you should do Latum Way puns!
