The Single has 2 channles, the Dual has 3 channels (early version had 2 channels like the single). The Dual has more options in the power stage, as the tube rectification or diode rectification and some other things like that!
@acsteve427 what about triple rectifier and dual, whats the difference there? is triple better? also what about the mark v for example, is mark v better then the rectifier line? any idea?
@dareheaven2 the Triple is 150w, while the Dual is 100. They have the same layout, the same controls. The Triple, thanks to the extra power, sounds a bit cleaner, but it's less "brutal" in the crunch channels. Mark V is another amp, it's totally different in costruction and sounds, it's not easy to write the differences here because really everything is different! :)
@dareheaven2 You know I think it's a matter of Preference. There are some songs where I prefer the tone on a Dual over the Triple. I have a Triple which I used for all my recording. I have a mix, sometimes I use a Mesa cab and sometimes swap it with a Marshall. You can't go wrong either way you go. If you play lots of Metal, the triple is the preferred. Dual is just as badass. @acsteve427 great demo!
get the triple rectifier.....I have two stacked on top of each other....triple rec is the BEST for all out metal distortion havoc.......it has a nice clean too.......my friend had the double....no contest....triple! champion
@acsteve427 which one ? your Marshal slant cab..I had two of those before..they have a sweet mellow sound if they have the Celestions....The mesa cab is made for the mesa..in my opinion best sound for the Hardcore style of music i do.for your sound the Marshal cab works sweetly...keep on jammin mon
@232323C well, I've a Mesa 4x12 Recto (straight, oversize w/ V30s) One Marshall 1982 Straight (V30 8 ohms too, I use it coupled with the Mesa cab!) and then this Marshall you can hear here, which is an old Marshall with old green backs in it. For recording I prefer this Marshall, it's really great and fat! For Lives with the band I mainly use the mesa and, if the place is big, the Marshall 1982. The Dual recto with those 2 different cabs sound incredible! :D Rock on!!!
@232323C I use mine for live band purposes.....we each have our own tastes however what makes the difference is also the style of music....For Hardcore you need the heavy fat clarity.....and the marshal and mesa cabs have two dif sounds..i prefer mesa....still.....lool but YES ROCK ON my guitar slinging ally!!!!!!
I've 5 4x12 at the moment and this one is THE CAB.
I've got a Straight Mesa Recto oversize V30, a Straight Marshall 1982 w/ V30, a marshall g12T75 full stack too, and this one which stands in my house & in the studio for recordings only. This is the best cab i've ever heard ;-)
Hey i know that guitar on the wall anywhere! it's a Synyster gates custom isn't it? =] You should play that through the rectifier... Instant orgasm :D
HI MAN. I've got Marshall JVM 410H with 1960A cabinet and would like to add Mesa to my sound and wonder between Dual Rectifire and Road King II. ANy suggestions ?
@marcinkiewiczpawel Search the many demos of each to find which one you like more, but personally i'd go with the rectifier. depends on what music you're into.
@marcinkiewiczpawel road king ii is in the rectifier series. it has the 5 12ax7's 2 5u4gb's and 4 6L6's, but the road king ii has 2 EL34's also. road king channel 1 is lone star clean which is amazing, dual recto is not the lone star, but its still good. channel 3 and 4 on road king are the same as channel 2 and 3 on dual recto. road king>dual recto, but its A LOT more confusing, but way more versatile. road king also has reverb while dual recto doesnt. look on mesa's site for more details
@tighttritenight Thanks! I built a Warmoth strat back in the 80's with a Duncan Custom in the bridge and a good strat Pup in the neck position.. The Duncan has a coil tap on it, so I can kind of cop some strat single coil bridge sounds. Still, not quite as good as strat for that sound, but the humbucker rocks! Then the Fat Strats came along about 20 years later and look almost just like my Warmoth. Very versatile for sure. Thanks again for clearing that up.
well I think that it has no cut in the band mix, it has no headroom for the cleans too! If you are looking for a "tallica" type of sound you will need a lot of headroom and a tight basses. The TSL simply hasn't these and it has no enough gain too. The DSL has only 2 channels but it sounds pretty good for every situation and in every typical Marshall sound contest, you know ;) Otherwise the Boogie is obviously the best choice for Metallica sonds, but it costs more!
@ripcliffburtonrip I own a TSL 100, and i cant honestly say I made a smart decision buying it. Its great if you're going to be playing shit like Manchester Orchestra, or slightly heavy gain shit like nirvana? Its just not really a good amp, buy a used dual rect its around the same price
@chickenluva1 i bought a used dual recto head for $900 and a recto cab for $475. im so stoked. it sounds kick ass and its perfect for my style of playing
I think you should buy an ENGL my man. Not sure about the zeppelin as i have not studied their sound. But if you could buy a triple rectifier you don't need to worry about tone! It's the tone itself

mesa, you can get the same tone as the trainwreck no problem. if you want to try and find a less expensice route the the marshall dsl100 (or tsl100). i own both the dual recto and the dsl they both can get basically any tone you want, the only difference is that on the mesa you have settings for each channel, on the marshall there is only one equalizer. but my advice for you is go mesa for sure.
whats the difference between the duel and Single Rectifier??? i play death metal and want a rec head but dont want to pay for more than i need. i only need one channel to play my pedal througha heavy head.

@clapton79 Dual button? What?
acsteve427 1 year ago
@acsteve427 I am just curious what the difference might be between Mesa Boogie Single and Dual Rectifier.
Single is 50 Watts, Dual looks 100 W, but that might not be the only difference.

@clapton79 ah ok!
The Single has 2 channles, the Dual has 3 channels (early version had 2 channels like the single). The Dual has more options in the power stage, as the tube rectification or diode rectification and some other things like that!

the single rect. is 50 watt and the dual is 100. im not sure about the channels on the single but this one has 3.

@Domination1017
The dual has 4 6L6GC power tubes and has 3 channels...2 high gain and a clean. It also 100 watts. Its $1799.
The single rectifier has 2 6L6GC power tubes and two channel. One is clean and the other is hi gain. and this one is $1699 or $1599 im not sure...
