@thejakeyl88 In many countries, going straight comprises the majority of a person's driving experience. Is there something absurd about valuing a car in terms of what you need from it? Perhaps you spend most of your time driving straight, from light to light. Even an E90 M3 could topple the mighty RX8.

I get that it was designed to go round corners fast, but its not that fast of a drag car. Above is a video of a drag race, so try not jump down people's throats for saying so..

The fools who say the RX8 is slow have probably never even been around one, let alone in one before. They are probably going off their xbox experiences... Anyways, those people would be giddy if they actually got to feel what it was like on a nice mountain road, here in NH my RX8 will eat up any car out here, nothing can keep up with it because if they try, they end up off the road in a ditch.

Some people are so rude and primitive! I started at about 6000rpm and had about 15sec. @ 1/4 mile. I said it was my first race, and the rex isn't a drag-tuned supra... So why all the stupid comments? 14,3 is perfect, 15 is okay-so what's the problem?!

you just need to keep it in the powerband (above 7.5k) launch at like 6, it should hook up and spin a little but not that much. fastest stock rx8 time was 14.2 from guys on rx8club.com

Generally speaking RX-8 isn't the best drag racing car out there. Wankel engine wasn't designed for this.

I run 14,9s flat, Car is stock, was my first race and it was not slow for a stock RX-8! So wheelspin was nearly perfect, cause the best stock RX-8 can run max. 14,5s!

@walker2006au Golf Vr6 owned :D RX8 is the better one. i dont think that the vr6 would win this race for a longer distance. And dont forget one think. You can also build in a turbo in Rx8. This car is natural without turbo.

firstly the rx8 had a big lead over the vrx at the start but the vrx got very close at the end.... so add more track what will happen???? the vr6 will win. It would do so as it was turbo and looked quite quick, the rx8 however is prob stock and yes n/a so turbo it and good bye vr6. N/a rotaries are quite crap top end and turbo's shine top end especially in a fwd engine and fwd car power straight down to ground not to many direction changes.

I own an RX8 and I can assure you they are not 'crap' top end! They thrive at the higher RPMs. In fact its bottom end that they really struggle. Putting a turbo on the RX8 does help cure some lack of bottom end torque quite nicely though!

That said I do agree with your earlier comment that the VR6 would catch it in a longer race; against a stock RX8 anyway.

@walker2006au man, I don't think you know what you're talking about. The whole design behind the rx8's and 7's is to have that top end power. Your completely wrong , on the statement that they suck at top end. Secondly, I raced a Vr6 last night and in the short run, he won. But as speeds continued to 90+I caught and passed him. I have stock rx8, he has cold air and magna flow upgrades.

@walker2006au furthermore, on a long track, many cars lose to these rotary engines. That's why rx7's were one of the fastest stock production car, with around 250ish hp. The difference being they were stock with a turbo. These newer rx8's (a toned version of rx7) do not have turbos yet still pulling 238 hp. You should seriously consider doing some research into cars before claiming things you know nothing about. Rx8 = good high end, bad low end. Rx8+turbo= domination.
