  • where are the captain gus shows?? Why not on youtube??

  • Is there a site that has the old Captain Gus shows ? Please let me know.

  • I was on Captain Gus in the late 60's... With my brothers troop. Great memories.

  • Captain Gus was San Antonio's answer for KTRK Houston's Kitterick.

  • I was on the Captain Gus show sometime in the early 1970's with my Cub Scout Den. It was very neat seeing the studio and I remember the being amazed by how bright the studio lights were and the fact that the news desk was in the same room. I also recall that several months later, I was watching the Eyewitness News when I heard (and recognized) Captain Gus's ship's bell off camera.

  • i remember those lights and seeing the news desk across the studio too....i also seem to remember Captain Gus being at the grand opening of the "3 bears" by my house.

  • @gmskurtz Isn't it neat the things you can remember from at least (for me) 40 years ago. And obviously, an afternoon kids' TV show affected a lot of people from the number of comments about ol' Captain Gus.

  • I grew up in Pleasanton. God bless you Captain Gus!

  • I was on The Captain Gus show when I was a girl scout years ago now im 52 loved it.

  • I wonder if Chris got to do the Newsreel during his short stint at WBZ in Boston.

  • I had my moment of fame on this show. I am old.

  • I watched Capn' Gus faithfully every day at 3:30 from about 1963 to 1969. It was all due to him and his show that I garnered an appreciation for the fine old animation of the 1930s thru 50s, as well as the groundbraking claymation of Art Clokey's Gumby. Sure do wish someone had had the wherewithall to save some of the tapes of the show! Ah, my life is much richer today for having heard a hearty "Ba-DING-BING!" every day when I was a kid! Long Live Cap'n Gus!

  • Anybody know where he is buried. Love to pay tribute to the man and the legend...

  • I 2nd that motion!

  • A true San Antonio icon.

  • We used to pick this up from a hilltop in Austin during the 60's.

  • Thanks for posting.I remember coming home from school and watching this everyday.I met him one saturday at Sears on Military Drive,Long live Captain Gus.

  • My big dream when i was a kid was to be a one of the kids on this show!
