If i were you, look into a SERATO. what you see are 2 "records" which have timecode signals on them which control through a £1000 mixer to control MP3's via PC!!!!! get u the SERATO , Technics 1200's and ur choice of mixer depending on ur style. u should be good.

im using serato in this video...the rane ttm57sl mixer has is built in. The turntables are actually better than 1200's since they have better torque...

I downloaded the free trial of VirtualDJ. Is that good to start out and mess around with? I'd appreciate any suggestions you can give.

the torque is very good - playing at over 4kg...

your using serato, use the loop fuction to loop your 8 counts.. then try mixing into the other track.
