Then, I use tabs a lot when I want to learn a song (tabs are music too, just simplified for the instrument itself) for the simplicity and the accuracy (I play through, but don't use the tab if it doesn't sound right and I do it right by playing through changing notes). Lately, since picking up the bass, my ear has inadvertently gotten better too...
