  • Can't stop crying

  • Th bbc should replay the film they made of Gorecki visiting Auswich to remind us of the cruel world we live in. Dawn Upshaw sings this Syphonie with such feeling and passion. It is sad to hear of Gorecki's death today such a wonderful composer who put into music the feelings of this troubled world. RIP

  • @19acampbell39 i heard it on BBC yesterday n it was soo fitting

  • @19acampbell39 remind us of the cruelty? yes there is that, but this music is not about cruelty. It's about the human reaction to such suffering through overwhelming compassion and an ability to share in that suffering. Music shows us the redeeming element in all situations: love.

  • @19acampbell39 I saw Gorecki in Katowice where he lived and where I studied, I have been to few concerts of the Katowice Symphony Orchestra. He was a wonderful composer with such big sensitivity. Let him rest in peace.

  • this intro sounds like the first movement of Shostakovich 10

  • So beautiful.

  • @RiotGrrrlLogic I agree..

  • @RiotGrrrlLogic For once I hear music of this type that I actually like. The slow entry, which you enlightened me as "pianissimo", is perfect.

  • Starts off so soft that you can't hear it. Pianissimo
