It's actually Eccelston playing the lead in a movie of "The Revenger's Tragedy" with Doctor who bits rather skillfully edited on to make it look like an Eccelston's Doctor story.

Nope it's a rather lovely grafting of Christopher Eccelston's performance in the movie of "Revenger's Tragedy" and some Who episodes to make it look like a Doctor Who story.

Yeah, but wouldn't it be lovely to think of it as a story maybe set during a time before he met Rose or indeed before he came back for her at the End of the episode "Rose".

Totally, in fact I wouldn't see anything wrong with other media such as past doctor novels (if we ever see them again) trying their hand at pre-Rose adventures for the ninth doctor. There is that line about his ears and most people think that means he's only just regenerated but I don't think so. I sometimes make similiar comments about my appearance doesn't mean I resembled Paul McGann the previous day.
