Oh man I wish Mavis could teach some of these young female singers how to sing with true soul and not just the vocal acrobatics that so much of them do. If only some of them would listen and learn from the masters.
Any chance you have her with the Night Music Band & Dr. John playing "A House Is Not A Home"? It was a little later in the same program. I had it on VHS, but that was destroyed in a typhoon about 10 years ago before I could transfer it to DVD. Haven't seen or heard that excellent version since. :-(
Mavis & Dr. John are singing the jazz ballad, "Don't Let the Sun Catch You Crying". Not to be confused with the other slow ballad by Gerry & the Pacemakers. It's two different songs that share the same song title.
Ray Charles has performed this piece extremely well. Robben Ford has also performed this song. I don't like the Gerry and the Pacemakers version. It sucks bad.
good stuff, would like to see the robben ford version posted ,thats if there is a vid of it out there

Wonderful, great song. If you can find it, check out the version by Billy Preston on his Hammond organ, oh!! I must be getting old.

Paul McCartney and his band in the early 90s also covered this, I think it was the Tripping the Live Fantastic Double CD...around 1990
