I truly believe that it depends on the ability of the driver to win the race and not the car. People with "fast cars" think they are hot shit, but I've seen a VW Fox take on a Honda S2000 and win. The S2000 driver couldn't drive a manual for his life.
The Civic is so light, yet it's surprising how much momentum it has. Off the pedal it rolls nicely. But I haven't driven a tC yet so there's no way for me to compare. I'm still between the two.

do you have the TRD supercharger on your tC? bc that shit is like an extra 5-7 grand to add it on, then you are taking about a 27k tC compared to a 21k Si and it is only a bit quicker than a bone stock Si.
@xoquixxoqafxo Actually her car does, with a 9.5 NST pulley. I'm looking to upgrade her automatic to handle more HP and go with a 15lb pulley. It didn't cost me 5-7 grand either. It cost me a little over $2000 for the kit from a Toyota dealership, $50 for the AT fitment kit, and I had my friend who is a Toyota Tech install the SC for about $400 and swap out the stock bearings for all ceramic which cost about $600 for all so ~ $3000.

It's probably 3 grand when you know how to do all the work yourself or know someone who will do it for you cheap. If you want to have it done at the dealer and be under warranty its like over $5 grand... I asked when i was looking at a tC brand new. And no a tC is not better than Honda... It looks sporty for sure but doesn't drive sporty... I'll take a Civic Si Sedan over a tC any day. The Si is quicker (stock), has a better shifter, better sounding engine, and an 8k redline :P

I have seen some bad ass tc's out there! scikotics in san antonio has a few turbo tc's that stayed within 2-3 cars with me when i was stock. its funny u boost a tc (excluding trd supercharger) and you get fantastic results! any tc that stuck with my mustang when it was stock, gets respect from me

To bad it doesn't. To bad also that the aftermarket is slow to progress for the new SI as well. Don't see them doing to much in terms of Motorsports and what not. I'm a member over on 8thgen as well, and I poke in from time to time.
I'm saying your statement is not true, and the race out come goes back and forth between the two. Especially in the 1/8th mile your statement is not even close. It is not until AFTER the 1/8th mile will an SI catch up to a tC (talking from a dig here, not from a roll). A good tC driver will hold off an SI from a dig...up to 3 or so gear. That's around 70-80mph before the SI can catch you. If you want vids of SI's getting smashed on by a tC I'll be happy to show some.
The market is slow with the SI though, that's another aspect of it. All the SI's are barely modded. They barely have any form of engine management for them, the aftermarket Big Brake Kits suck for them from what I've been told by SI owners. The old SI's are the ones with all the Great Aftermarket support/mods. The new one for some reason is just not getting the same love and it's weird that it's not. There are a shit ton more stuff available for a tC then there is for the new SI.
Tell that to the Evo 9 MR or the STI, or 350z's that I've walked on (that are in the videos on my youtube page). Tell that to the R35 GTR that got passed up by the PTuning Scion tC on a race track. Tell that to the fastest FWD car in Time Attack, that holds the FWD records at multiple race tracks around the country, the World Racing Scion tC driven by Chris Rado. Let me know how they respond. Probably by slapping you up side the head and telling you to open your eyes and pay attention.

And if you paid attention, the first part of my comment WAS pertaining to street racing. How many Balts you see take an Evo?
95% of my videos of my tC ARE street races. Until recently I have converted over to track racing as it's much more enjoyable and rewarding than mashing the gas on the interstate going in a straight line. That requires little skill, just a faster car, which you can look at the caliber of cars I was racing in my videos. Some I don't have on vid like beating a 440whp Procharged Mustang GT, or the 380whp 300zx Twin turbo that I was neck and neck with.

Stock tc's are slow in comparison to other cars in its class. I was on edmunds looking at car specs and it showed the tcs 0-60 time was in the mid 8 sec range. My civic does 0-60 in high 8s so yea TC=slow. Sorry TC guys out there.
Well i was reading an article the other day in Consumer reports saying how Scion has recieved alot of negative feeback from its consumers saying that there is excessive rust problems, the wheels have been popping of for no apparent reason, other things like the windsheild wippers are breaking off for no reason....just a whole lot of poor feedback, it makes me proud not to own one because i cant have my wheels popping off while im beating a TC in my little bitchy CIVIC<
tC has had no rust problems, if there are any problems those owners need to take the damn car to the dealer since in falls under a 5 year warrenty that exist for me still. wheels do not pop off for no reason unless a dumbass does not know what a lug nut is. no windshield wiper problem. those people dont take care of their car. i own an 05 and never had a problem. everything is done by me and no one else and i know people that i trust when something else needs to be done.

Anyway, my buddys GF said that she took it into the dealer last week in NYC after she ran over a park bench and they told her that the tranny had sustained damages because the steel bench punchured the oil pan and the tranny had no oil so they told her that it would cost 4000 dollars to fix or she could pay 3000 dollars for a new one. She declined both offers and is now driving on a leaking bad tranny. Only 1st and 2nd gear function but she doesnt care because she basically works 2 streets
tranny had no oil? damaged oil pan? makes no sense since the oil pan is just that an oil pan. transmission fluid is a different thing. btw if the scion would have hit you, youd be in the hospital, dead or alive i dont know, blood would have been tested, driver gets $20-$250 fine, sues, wins, and doesnt have to pay, while you pay for damages to his car. you, in the hospital 1-2 weeks paying medical bills, his fine, and what ever he sued for. he walks, maybe you walk again.

I'm saying your statement is not true, and the race out come goes back and forth between the two. Especially in the 1/8th mile your statement is not even close. It is not until AFTER the 1/8th mile will an SI catch up to a tC (talking from a dig here, not from a roll). A good tC driver will hold off an SI from a dig...up to 3 or so gear. That's around 70-80mph before the SI can catch you. If you want vids of SI's getting smashed on by a tC I'll be happy to show some.

The market is slow with the SI though, that's another aspect of it. All the SI's are barely modded. They barely have any form of engine management for them, the aftermarket Big Brake Kits suck for them from what I've been told by SI owners. The old SI's are the ones with all the Great Aftermarket support/mods. The new one for some reason is just not getting the same love and it's weird that it's not. There are a shit ton more stuff available for a tC then there is for the new SI.

Tell that to the Evo 9 MR or the STI, or 350z's that I've walked on (that are in the videos on my youtube page). Tell that to the R35 GTR that got passed up by the PTuning Scion tC on a race track. Tell that to the fastest FWD car in Time Attack, that holds the FWD records at multiple race tracks around the country, the World Racing Scion tC driven by Chris Rado. Let me know how they respond. Probably by slapping you up side the head and telling you to open your eyes and pay attention.

1) I don't care about stock, people don't race stock cars. 2) CoBalts aint done nothing more than give some people a means for a lead foot but it stops about there. Who owns the Modified FWD championship in Time Attack 2 years in a row? PTuning's Scion tC. Who owns and flat out Dominates the Unlimited FWD Class and is champ like 4 years in a row? World Racing's Scion tC. Cobalt SS are nice, but no one does anything with them, so arguing about stock cars is a lame excuse to fall on.

Hmmm...funny the other cars on the track are ALSO Professionally built. Ptuning's Scion tC however is not "custom" built. Just built. Everything on their tC can be purchased for a normal tC. They sell virtually everything that is installed on their tC, or you can buy some stuff (like roll cage) from any shop. Nothing beyond what anyone can do if you got the funds. And if you paid attention, the first part of my comment WAS pertaining to street racing. How many Balts you see take an Evo?

95% of my videos of my tC ARE street races. Until recently I have converted over to track racing as it's much more enjoyable and rewarding than mashing the gas on the interstate going in a straight line. That requires little skill, just a faster car, which you can look at the caliber of cars I was racing in my videos. Some I don't have on vid like beating a 440whp Procharged Mustang GT, or the 380whp 300zx Twin turbo that I was neck and neck with.

no, you read it that way. I was referring to my own tC as well. Boosted tC that is. Even in a street comparison, as it presently sits today.....a tC's Aftermarket support is superior to that of the new SI. The Aftermarket has not fully embraced that car yet, which is weird in my opinion. But it is what it is, not my fault for that though. Just calling it like I see it.

Stock tc's are slow in comparison to other cars in its class. I was on edmunds looking at car specs and it showed the tcs 0-60 time was in the mid 8 sec range. My civic does 0-60 in high 8s so yea TC=slow. Sorry TC guys out there.

Well i was reading an article the other day in Consumer reports saying how Scion has recieved alot of negative feeback from its consumers saying that there is excessive rust problems, the wheels have been popping of for no apparent reason, other things like the windsheild wippers are breaking off for no reason....just a whole lot of poor feedback, it makes me proud not to own one because i cant have my wheels popping off while im beating a TC in my little bitchy CIVIC<

tC has had no rust problems, if there are any problems those owners need to take the damn car to the dealer since in falls under a 5 year warrenty that exist for me still. wheels do not pop off for no reason unless a dumbass does not know what a lug nut is. no windshield wiper problem. those people dont take care of their car. i own an 05 and never had a problem. everything is done by me and no one else and i know people that i trust when something else needs to be done.

Yes but you dont know how many people i see in the inner city that have TCs. They just park up on top of barrels, run into things, the other day a guy in a TC almost ran me over while i was playing hop-scotch in the road with my friends,,,,,granted i was pretty drunk off of Newcastle at the time because it was my birthday, yea im 29 now. but anyway my point is people dont take care of Scions. my buddys GF has a tc and she never gets oil changes because she thinks it doesnt need it

Anyway, my buddys GF said that she took it into the dealer last week in NYC after she ran over a park bench and they told her that the tranny had sustained damages because the steel bench punchured the oil pan and the tranny had no oil so they told her that it would cost 4000 dollars to fix or she could pay 3000 dollars for a new one. She declined both offers and is now driving on a leaking bad tranny. Only 1st and 2nd gear function but she doesnt care because she basically works 2 streets

tranny had no oil? damaged oil pan? makes no sense since the oil pan is just that an oil pan. transmission fluid is a different thing. btw if the scion would have hit you, youd be in the hospital, dead or alive i dont know, blood would have been tested, driver gets $20-$250 fine, sues, wins, and doesnt have to pay, while you pay for damages to his car. you, in the hospital 1-2 weeks paying medical bills, his fine, and what ever he sued for. he walks, maybe you walk again.

To put icing on the cake, the Si takes to mods way better than the tC does too. Slap and intake and headers on the Si and you have a beast. Add the ECU reflash and you have a totally new car.

No Jackass...TC's do NOT "normally" beat the Si. I have raced plenty of TCs in my 08 Si and NEVER lost a race. From a red light...doing a 30 roll...or taking off flying on the highway at 80mph. No dick fuck you're wrong. The stats say it all. The VTEC SI is compairable to the TRD Supercharged tC NOT its non charged little brother. The Si has 197 HP and 139 lbf. The TRD tC has 201 HP and 185 ft-lbf both coming in at around 3000 lbs curb. I own a trd tC, and i smoke SI's all day and nite. Learn your facts before you open you're retarded civic fan boy mouth.

Or invest $3,000 in a badass 1g Eagle Talon TSI awd, $5,000 to make it to stage two in perfect order (400hp), and you have a car that'll leave V8's behind you for less than $9,000... Don't know about you, but for me 1/3 of the money for a car 3x. more powerfull sounds alottttt better. And you aren't stuck witch a gayass fwd!
