green was good...but little did rem know the super-stardom they'd be in for once releasing "out of time"...and then the forever masterpiece "automatic for the people".
One of my guitar heroes, if not "the one!" He looks just like director Sam Raimi! Again, one of my heroes, but not a fan of self-hatred/denigration of the U.S. No one is perfect, and it's tough being the big boy on the block!
Lol! His voice is fine! But most people are like that about their voice, how you really sound isn't how you think you sound so it freaks you out when you hear yourself! I know I feel that way.
I love Peter but he is sooo politically naive. Peter: We have nuclear weapons to protect us. We didn't "invade" Central America. Actually , they invaded us. And as for "not paying attention to the homeless", we've spent trillions of dollars since the sixties fighting poverty. Trillions of dollars and poverty is still with us. Homelessness is largely due to mental illness and addiction, not a flaw in our system. Tired old liberal cliches with this guy. And Stipe is even worse.
@2004tempaul: Wait, are you refering to Nicaragua? Well, we supported anti-communists in that country because in case you haven't haven't noticed, it's a totalitarian, murderous system of government responsible for the deaths of hundreds of millions of people in the twentieth century, you stupid fucking idiot.
@2004tempaul: Again, Leftism (your ideology) is infinitely more murderous and oppressive than anything sins America has ever committed. I dare you to walk into a Cuban coffee bar in Miami (make sure there are some old timers there) and start blaming America for all the problems with Latin America. Better yet, why don't you pack up and buy a one way ticket to Chavez's socialist paradise because clearly this evil country isn't for you.
Nope..you're staying put. You ain't going nowhere.
@tomthefunky Wow, love it or leave it, how retro. May I propose you move to Somalia? They have none of the out there liberal ideas like public schools, taxes, or market regulation.
@2004tempaul: No, but they have plenty of liberal ideas like Marxism. And I wouldn't be tauting those three things you mentioned as liberal accomplishments considering the state of our public schools, or the fact that taxes cause people to move elsewhere, or that excessive regulation kills business. And I don't have to move to Somalia. All I have to do is see what liberals have done to places like Detroit, Newark, or Baltimore.
@tomthefunky You should relax. Go out to your Cuban coffe bar grab a decaf and talk to the old-heads about the evils of gun control, immigration, and civil rights.
@2004tempaul: Nice try. I love how you convientley left out the word "illegal" when you wrote "immigration". Civil rights? Gun control is an assault on civil rights. Your not very well thought out, are you?
And I'm still waiting how you arrived at your 70,000, no, 80,000 figure of how many people we supposedly killed. You've explained nothing. Did U.S paratroopers drop in there in the dead of night and start blowing innocent people away? If so, what country? When? Why?
everybody is self critical of hearing their recorded voice. it can tend to make you overly self-conscious. i'm glad they didn't get political with their music. just stfu and play is a good way to go. he was smart enough to know that
I don't care what he rambles on about, I just like looking at him and hearing his voice. Even though he's like 30 years older than me I think he's hot! Even now with grey hairs and weight gain-still hot! ^^

He criticizes the "dancing around" type of music video right after they have watched the cheesy, "dancing around" video for Stand!
He says Americans are "fat pigs." Say it, Pete, then live it. A few years later he Pete Buck would personify the obnoxious American tourist when he dumped yogurt on a flight crew in a drunken display of "piggish" behavior. Very educational interview on how the worst one sees in the world around them, one actually is seeing what is prevalent in one's self.
Believe me Im not a Bush fan but I do lean to the right. While I love REM, when they open their mouths sometimes and spout their leftist views I cringe!
I like his leg shaking, showing that they really weren't looking for fame. It was about making good music.

Addendum: Mr. Buck's voice is just fine, but I do not like this interview setup. I wouldn't have stood for it, or sat!
