I LIVE in L.A. and like everything else IN L.A. I am a PARADOX. On one hand I say FUCK the Police, Ive seen and had things done by LAPD that makes me say that as a whole and personally..But at the same time I have friends who grew up to be lieutenants, some of the BEST PEOPLE I know are LAPD, i have NO problem with them. Im PROUD to be in a city with THE BEST force in the WORLD hands down, but an element of them ALSO makes them bad.Parts of ME are good AND bad TOO am I ALL bad too?! I LOVE L.A.!

Imagine if they had 45k+ cops like they do in the NYPD. They do so much with so little.I think any Dept. can have technology and cool toys, but there's no replacement for training and tactics. The LAPD has the been the innovator in so many different aspects, from creating SWAT units to GANG units and their " no patches" blue uniform is a statement of tradition and presence. Too bad they have been hindered and restrained in so many ways in the past few years. They're still the best. Switch on!!

As far as other agencies asking for help, of course its not a new thing. They ask everyone for help, but not as often and as reliably as they do with the NYPD. For example, the NYPD's Counter Terrorism Intel Division is bar none the best in the country and even competes with those of the FBI.

What I am getting at by saying they are the "first" modern department is just that...do you see the structure of most police departments in the United States? The first one to adopt that structure was the NYPD. And when it comes down to bringing down crime, I am not referring to the NYPD bringing down the mob (although that's ANOTHER GOOD POINT ;) ) I am referring to the days (up to the early to mid 90's) when NYC was out of control. It was because of the NYPD's strategies (like Strategy #5...).

You do realize no other department has brought down crime in any city like the NYPD correct? You do realize most movies and books on cops are based on the NYPD correct? Books and movies I can tell you 100 about both LAPD and NYPD but I can tell you more movies about dirty cops that use NYPD as an expample.

And you act like its a new thing for agencies to ask others for help. I can tell you that the DOHS, CIA, and FBI have partnered with many agencies even LAPD. They tap into everyones playbooks to make the best recipe for what they need. I can also tell you that the US Army went to LAPDs SWAT Team to get tips on urban combat for the war in Iraq which went directly into their training book. I dont even have a clue about the starting wages for NYPD but if its that bad its just more proof of point.

If you only knew what the fuck you were talking about. Did you know every time a LAPD officer does a traffic stop they have to fill out papers, even though there is no citation written to the so called offender? You should also see how they clear a vehicle full of gang bangers. Instead of taking one subject at a time out of the car to detain him/her, they scatter them across the road and send one officer out to handcuff them all. Proper way is to call one at a time towards to you detain them.
