@brandonch25 4-strokes have more manageable power and their power band doeskin come on near as hard. a 250 2-stroke will out power a 250 4-stroke. but a 250 2-stroke cannot out power a 450 4-stroke.
@dadee433 yeah your right its more manageable but the second part you would have been right probly up until 2006 when they stopped developing the 2 stroke engines so basically a 2009 yz250 puts the same amount of power down as the 2006 yz250 ... but on the other hand the 06 250fs are still being developed just like the 450's because they are not being fazed out and you can turn a lil faster lap time on the 250 2 stroke if you know how to ride it but i mean were talking tenths of a second

@dadee433 yeah i know all about those i was leaning toward what we race competively in the states and i know they still make the yz but thecrank case on that bike has not changed in the last five years , plus they allowed it to be raced in the lites class because the four strokes are still advancing .. its common sense they are not putting r&d into japanese two strokes because we dont race them on a top level anymore. the 250 is still faster on top end but on a track its a different story

@jizzleman1101 if you have the exact same mods and say you have a yz 250 and a 450f its hard to say because a pipe kit for a two stroke can give it like 10 to 15 horsepower if its jetted right and the 4 stroke can gain between 2 and 6 horsepower .... you get your power out of the four stroke when you do your head work. if you dont have alot of money the easiest and fastest bike to maintain would be the two stroke but the four stroke is overall the best bike as far as the potential it has

7th: Dyno test on a 2008 YZ-250 with pro circuit vs stock pipe and silencer showed an overall drop of 5 hp don't believe what magazines and poster tell you. the engineers who made these bikes aren't stupid
6th: Dyno tests that i have personally witnessed on a 1300cc hayabusa, removing the exhaust baffles cause an overall 10hp drop compared to bone stock. if anyone wants to argue bring it on i know what i'm talking about. Btw don't use wikipedia for your facts, anyone can post info on there if they want to. its usually not correct
4th: whoever said tuning the carb can make it louder, that is the stupidest thing i have ever heard of 5th: to the guy who made this video, removing the baffle from your silencer will not give you more power or torque, in fact it will allow sparks to escape and raise the chance of starting a fire. The piece you have removed is called a spark arrestor and is on the bike to keep sparks from getting out not to keep water from getting in.
3rd: to Nickgr33n155 DO NOT run a 2-stroke without an exhaust whether you are rebuilding it soon or not. A 2-stroke can destroy a cylinder in as little as 5 seconds without an exhaust.

Actual motorcycle mechanic here. and nearly everyone on this post is retarded. 1st: 4-stroke exhausts are a tuned system the same as a 2-stroke exhausts but since there are only half the power strokes you won't notice the difference as much. 2nd: a 2-stroke engine also seals off the exhaust at a certain piston position same as the 4-stroke valve train does.

You could completely remove the whole pipe and your engine would not explode, or die, or completly blow up your engine. if that were true then that pos toyota driving down the road with NO muffler would blow up. All it does is restrict flow and keep sparks from coming out the pipe, potentially catching fields and grass on fire. Two-strokes are loud but sound like a ricer, and no you could shove the exhaust pipe underwater and run the bike, how do you think they have silent boats?

Ok apparently you guys don't know anything about an engine whatsoever. If you ran a car without a muffler would it blow up? NO! This is the same principle only smaller. Illegal to run without a spark arrestor? Yes, even may be illegal to run without the baffle if you live in a dB restricted area. No this won't blow your bike up it will increase hp and flow, putting LESS backpressure and stress on your engine.

you shouldn't take that off the muffler, its on there for a reason to keep dirt, and water spray out of your pipe, during intake stroke, you muffler might suck in dirt. If you want to be loud, just buy a better pipe, or buy a 2-stroke bike.

4th: whoever said tuning the carb can make it louder, that is the stupidest thing i have ever heard of 5th: to the guy who made this video, removing the baffle from your silencer will not give you more power or torque, in fact it will allow sparks to escape and raise the chance of starting a fire. The piece you have removed is called a spark arrestor and is on the bike to keep sparks from getting out not to keep water from getting in.

3rd: to Nickgr33n155 DO NOT run a 2-stroke without an exhaust whether you are rebuilding it soon or not. A 2-stroke can destroy a cylinder in as little as 5 seconds without an exhaust.

ok. Actual motorcycle mechanic here. and nearly everyone on this post is retarded. 1st: 4-stroke exhausts are a tuned system the same as a 2-stroke exhausts but since there are only half the power strokes you won't notice the difference as much. 2nd: a 2-stroke engine also seals off the exhaust at a certain piston position same as the 4-stroke valve train does.

It's not a 2 stroke. only 2 strokes require back pressure to run properly. Fourstroke pipes are to designed to have very little back pressure.
