Lisa - I know this is several months old, but I just wanted to say thank you for posting this. I went through a divorce last fall, and was totally devastated. Like you, I fell into a depression and spent many, many months trying to get back to a place where I could just feel "normal" again. It has been over a year, and I am SO much better than I was a year ago! Still looking for that special guy, though, but remaining hopeful and positive. Thank you again for sharing!
Congratulation Lisa. Your life, family and marriage sounds so happy. Its all I want too. Im looking for the right person and I really hope that I can manage to build a happy life as yours too. Its so great to listen to your story. How did you and John meet? It seems so difficult to find the right person to date. I've had two serious relationships ending in the worse way ever. Im 26 and getting a little depressed about it.
I really think you should write that book. Seriously!
Lisa - this was a great video. I really enjoy listening to your thoughts and views. We are very alike in many ways. So glad you found your prince charming, they say you have to kiss a few toads before you find your prince! ain't that the truth! lol
Lisa, how did you overcome your sadness and depression? Im in that moment currently and I desperately need some advice as to how to snap out of it. I would love to hear how you managed that. xo

Hey, Lisa, great advice on relationships:) I'm so glad that I've found your channel, though I'm not into make-up at all. I just love watching all kinds of your videos. Everything you've said about relationships is sooo true. I also turned down a guy when I was 26, who asked me to marry him - i felt he wasn't the one. I still have doubts if I'll be able to recognise the right person when i meet him (if I meet him at all), though i'm 28 now, but I never had regrets about my refusal to get married.
I know you have those who disagree but speaking as someone who married at 18 to a man of 20 - it worked for us - nearly 34 years later - we're still together, whatever, two kids, one granddaughter, here we both are, regardless of what my mother's friends said, here we are!! (shoes, make up, jewellery, he still loves me!)
@virtualspaniel I think that is wonderful--my mom has never dated anyone else--she started dating my dad at 15 and had me at 19--still together and in love!! I was hoping for that myself with the first one, but now I have it--I LOVED hearing your story---nothing better!! xoxo Lisa
Thank you for this video! I'm a 1 1/2 years newly wed and I always believed that a marriage shouldn't be as hard as I feel like it is with my marriage. So, I'm glad to know that there are marriages out there that aren't as difficult as mine. My husband was the who pretended to be all things I wanted in a husband but now I know who he really is and now I know that we're not compatible. By the way I love the shoes!
I think u need to go through the bad relationships to understand what u consider the good ones. I was engaged to mr. Wrong when I met my now husband. I broke odd my engagement 1 month after meeting mr. Right and it was the best thing I've ever done!! 14 years and 2 kids later I know it was the best!!!!!
First of all, your eyes look amazing today!!! I'm going to Ulta to check out Celestine. Also, I just ordered all 3 of the SP lipsticks! You've never steered me wrong with product recommendations. I'll let you know what I think when I get them. Also, I wanted to thank you for being such an inspiration. I'm a pharmacist, and I work from home. It is so easy to not 'get ready' and look like crap in my yoga pants, ponytail, and no makeup every day. You've inspired me to try to look good. Thanks :)
Very good advice. I was married for 18 years when my (now) ex filed for divorce without telling me. I was constantly working on the marriage, his golf vacations and going out with the guys were a priority to him, I ,on the other hand wanted to have "family" vacations., and wanted him to do things with me. I was a stay-at-home mom with a daughter (special needs) and a son . He wanted to be married, but, have a single life also. It's been 2 years now and it still hurts but getting better.
Thank you for everything you said. I love how what you say can lift my spirits when I'm feeling down and make me feel even better when I'm happy. I love you and would totally read your book! Kim
Hello Lisa, I am always so excited when I check my subscription box and see that you have loaded a new video. You have a beautiful soul and something about your kind spirit resonates with me. I enjoy your vlogs and ootd, but I miss your makeup tutorials. Keep up the wonderful videos!
Hi I had a couple people ask about my post, I forgot to include the discount code I found online. I ordered these lipsticks at online site Ariva used coupon code SP20 for 20% off all Susan Posnick makeup. The lipstick is normally 17$, w coupon 13$ plus free ship!
You do give great advice. I really like that nail polish! I love what you said about a scent bringin back a memory. That makes me so happy when that happens;0)
I agree if you find it hard work then something isn´t right.Sure you have to work on things sometimes as you do in life but if the lid fits as one says say then it bubbles on it´s own
Lisa, I love you! You're so down to earth. I'm so glad I found you when I first started on here. You're amazing. Your hair is so sleek and chic today. love it. Have a great fourth my dear.
Your advice is so totally right on. You really need to have your values set and look for someone with those same values. It's so nice that you can be so objective and not bash your ex. I think you have excellent advice.
Loved this video and completely agree with all your insights about relationships. I do believe that much of it comes from maturity and getting older. Realizing that you need to know what you want and not change to adapt to what someone else wants. My first marriage didn't work our for many of the same reasons that you stated. I also went for the more mature man as my husband is 20 years older than me <3
Thank you for the beautiful words and your honesty and for sharing that with us! It means a lot! I just came out of a 3 year very serious relationship that ended 7 months ago n im still recovering. But I know myself better now and in turn I know what I want better now. I hope I find what you have some day.:) Please keep the advice coming! Esp the advice on recovering from a relationship that you mentioned. Idk y anyone would be questioning your intentions or advice.:( boo. Write that book!;)
Susan Posnick lipsticks are £20 in the UK which = $32. I think someone is trying to rip me off.
Great Advise and I had a similar experience and agree 100%. I hope I can tell my daughter this stuff and she will listen and really hear me. When my loved ones tried to tell me when I was in that wrong situation and young I did not hear a thing. I guess some people (like me) insist on learning the hard way.
It is so true the older you get the wiser you become so we should respect our elders views
Oh my gosh!! You look so good with straight hair!! So sleek and sophisticated & somehow more youthful. I think maybe because straight hair is so "in" right now. Try flat ironing it completely straight and see how it looks! :)
Love the white skirt on you. I agree with everything you said about marriage, Lisa. Brooke and Will are so fortunate to have such a wise mother - you will influence them both with your good sense. Of course, their Dad must be just as wise for having married you!
Wonderful video, I just had this conversation with my friend yesterday. I think I'll just send her this video to watch so that way she can hear it from someone else. Thank you for sharing and by the way you so good in that outfit.
It takes a brave woman to open herself up to criticism in order to give others the benefit of your experience. It's selfless and vulnerable, and I am awed by your honesty. I'm currently dealing with similar issues and my marriage and hearing about the light at the end of other people's tunnels is inspiring. Thank you! You write that book, Lisa--I'll read it :)
Ladies- when you are dating does he take an interest in YOUR interests , does he believe in God and family?? If you like the beach will he go even though it's not really 'HIS THING"? Pay close attention to these things before you get married. Lisa summed it all up in a nutshell, this is the difference between the MEN and the boys. Lisa found a true gentleman .
@FacePalette So true--I needed to be honest with myself--and the mistakes that I had made--I knew we were different from the beginning--I fought it the whole way!! The peer pressure is so bad now--my daughter is 11--I am NOT thrilled with FB and cell phones!! A girl needs to be "unreachable" sometimes!! Thanks for watching! :)) Lisa
You are so totally right. I was engaged to a man whose main goal in life was to make money and try to do better than his neighbors. I only wanted a simple happy life with a family. Fortunately, before I married him, I met my husband, and we knew right away. Your makeup is totally awesome today. What is the hourglass Pearl?I can't find it on their website. Love the eyes! Thanks for sharing.
@danapride Hey there! So glad you realized it in time--you can change someone's actions, but you cannot change what is in their heart--I don't want to have to!! The Hourglass Pearl is a concealer--I got it from Sephora--I like this and the Cle de Peau Beige, but the Hourglass costs less if you can get it--they are out of this shade a lot! Thanks for watching! xoxo Lisa
whooooaa....you continue to leave me speechless each and every time...this vid about the whole relationship thing..IS AWESOME!!!!! luv ya, keep being you
Dear Lisa, i hv been a subbie for so long but this vlog really makes me want to commend you for bring so honest, grounded and practical abt relationships:) I love the way you tell ur stories and experiences. They are faultless!
And if course, you are a very beautiful lady and must be an awesome awesome mum!
Have a great day Lisa and may you be blessed with happiness w John, Brooke and Will!!
Ciao Lisa... I am totally in LOVE with that shade of lipstick, then agin, I think that I say that all the time that I see your lipsticks... but this one.. I really LOVE!! ha ha. I too am the same as you.. I have had some bad relationships before and came through some divorces as well... they are so difficult... but... I did find a WONDERFUL man... and we do want the same things in life. Your advice is perfect Lisa!! Have a great weekend!! Hugs & Kisses, Love Shelley xXx
Lisa you look so lovely and glowy today. Very summery chic. Love that white skirt on you! If you write a book I will buy the first copy...but you have to autograph it. You are so right about your advice. Last man I dated I broke up with three times. Should have left it at the first time but oh no... not me. I had to try and be understanding and compromise a little. Never again. I don't care if in baseball you get three strikes. With me it is now one and you are OUT! LOL! No more wasting my time!
Lisa your an angel! Thank you so much for sharing this with us. I would love to get more of your advice. Your daughter is so lucky to have a mother like you. I love your videos and if you wrote a book I would buy it! Thank you, thank you, thank you!! Please keep the advice comin.
@Lisa I need to pay attention to this. I'm a 37 year old singleton whose never been married. I've been feeling down the past few years about the fact that I haven't met the right person. My married friends will say "when you're ready you'll find him"... I never really understood that until now whilst watching your video. Thank you. X
I agree with what you said. Where does this notion that love/marriage takes work??? When you are in love with, and married to, the right person it is somewhat effortless. IMO.
Lisa you are so sweet. We can all learn from each others tough life lessons. So kind of you to share your wisdom with others. I have been married over 30 years but we still treat each other like we were dating. He still opens the doors for me. We hold hands, even when riding in the car. We take care of our appearance because we want to look good for each other. Other than my children and my grandson, he is the most important person in my world as well as my best friend. Thanks for sharing..
You are such a strong woman! It takes a strong intelligent person to realize exactly what makes them happy and to do what it takes to be happy, even if it hurts at first. Makeup with a side of advice is great! Thank you so much Lisa
I very much agree with your take on marriage; what works and what doesn't. And, the mutual respect and friendship within the relationships (for me) is what matters the most and what I think matters long-term. Sharing the same philosophies and goals are absolutely necessary, or else it just won't work. Thanks for taking the time to say these things, directed specifically at younger women/teens. It's really important info, and some NEVER hear it. xxxxxx
Omg there's a lipstick named after my City??? WILD. Hahaha. I was like, her video title is SO weird. What's S Posnick??? Haha. It looks AMAZING too. Love it.
I love this video. You give great advice and definitely gave me a lot to think about. I'm 19 & a lot of my friends are in relationships like you explained where it's all fights, tears and drama. I always tell them what Bruce said somehow that stuck with me & a lot of what you said did too. Thank you for this. I hope you do more. I think everyone can relate to these at some level or another. <3
Thanks for sharing some of your life with all of us! I also am married now but I went through a divorce at a younger age as you did and it was tough but I learned a lot from it, I swear you and I have so much in common it is crazy!!! Love your outfit btw...
very sweet video...and you are right about laying it out on the line..no use wasting your time with someone who doesnt want the same things out of life
Here, here, Lisa! Loved your vlog, and how true your words are! Both my husband and I have been married before, so I replayed your video for him. He thoroughly enjoyed your comments and remarked, "How wise she is!" We both feel so fortunate that we found each other after the "trauma years!" Have a good weekend.
I think it is so brave & sweet of u to open up to ur subscribers and offer priceless advice based on ur life experiences. Similar story happened to me, I am currently 29, and wish I had listened to myself more when I was younger or had a big sis like u! I hope all ur young subscribers really take what u said to heart : ) Thk u for being u!!
Lisa, your vlog/sharing it is just very helpful and your honesty is so appreciated.....keep them coming:) AND you look beautiful in this video! Love LOVE your vids!! They are so special to me....they are my me time ;)
i really needed to hear this Lisa! im going through some tough times now, but i know all will get better! thanks for sharing! you're a wonderful woman! much love! God bless! by the way, your makeup looks gorgeous!
ahhh this was such a good video...i love how you say that you have to see if the other person has what you're looking for otherwise neither of you will be happy...in fact i love everything that you said...preach on Lisa :)
Fantastic video. I would love more videos like this. Let people know in the beginning what type of video it is. So if they only want makeup they can watch another of your videos. What makes you so interesting is your life experience and how you share it. It's nice to get to know you better. I'm enjoying my cup of tea with you talking to me. Love it. Enjoy your weekend with your lovely family. Glad you found the right man this time. Smart advice.
i was raised & groomed to want nothing more than to get a husband & i let it effect me- i got married at 21-i thought it was a right thing to do-boy was i wrong!!! mine was more wacko than yours my x was NUTS- when your in the wrong place that causes depression-my x was a paranoid schizophrenic-alcoholic- (never drank or acted crazy in front of me untill we got married) he tried to kill me seveal times thank god no kids- i started over too fresh! i apperchite more because of it now- x shelly
I like how you said to listen to ppl who love you......Everyone tells me how lucky i am to have my husband and sometimes its like life takes over and you dont appreicate what you have and i need to get back to that. ! your such a good example lisa
I love your advice and think you are an amazing person. Please write a book, I think it would go well - starting is the hardest part. Love to hear more from you. MM
Oh how I wish I had heard that advice when I was 18, I made a lot of mistakes and wasted a lot of time with the wrong man. I love your ootd, simple yet classy, very Jen A! I ordered this lipstick from Ariva online with a 20% off coupon code , got the lipstick for 13$ and free ship!
@BellaSC thank you for posting the web site you bought the lipstick. I'm looking to buy it as well. Would you mind sharing the coupon code. I googled it and all of them are expired. Thanks so much! liz
@BellaSC Ooh please share the discount code you found. I've been searching everywhere online to find one. My friend and I bought want some Susan Posnick lipsticks. Lisa makes me want everything! LOL!
Lisa, I could listen to you all day. Thank you so much for this video and for being so open with us. I am one of those 20-somethings looking for "Mr. Right" and I know your words will stick with me =) You are beautiful inside and out! Love and hugs xox
Lisa ive said it in your last video but im saying it again THANK YOU THANKYOU missha perefect cover BB cream is amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Im also using the signature real complete bb cream too. !!
Thanks for all the advice! My hubby is 13 years older than me, and it works so well for us. Your vlogs have really breathed new life into so many things for me. I have been taking my kids out to the pool or other fun place almost every day. I was getting a little too caught up in keeping my house perfect and now we are having a blast and we all (Including my hubby) are much happier now. I also have been touching myself up before he gets home, and I feel refreshed and ready for our family night!
Great advice sweetie... that lip color looks beautiful on you! Im telling ya I have got to try the bond9 perfumes. The girls and I are going to Forever21 that opened up here in Charleston...we are so excited. :) HUGS~~Kimmy
So true! I also think that what you want at 19 is not what you may want at 26, etc. It's important to find someone you can grow with, life brings so many changes. My husband is 9 hrs younger than me and he is more grown up than most men my age. I never thought I'd be 41 having a baby with the man of my dreams! You never know where life is going to take you. That's what makes it an amazing, difficult, always learning and loving journey. I'm grateful for the hard times and lessons I've lea
Great advice, Lisa. Ahhh yes, listen to your parents. If only our daughters would do that more often! Love the lipstick; will def. check it out. Happy 4th!
This is some of the best advice I've heard on relationships, especially for the younger girls. You really should write a book Lisa.......experience is a much better teacher then "book learnin", I say go for it............I'd buy it!
Thanks for sharing your very personal story about your first marriage. Sometimes we have to go thru these situations to learn and grow. Your advice is right on! All the best to you, John and your children.
Such good advice. You are so right marriage shouldn't be work. My first marriage was the worse... and now I can't believe how blessed I am. What a difference.
I just wanted to let you know I bought the stuart weitzman in the xray, its leopard print. And I love them =) soooooooo comfortable!! thank you so much for showing them to me! you look amazing in this video as always! =)
LOVE this lipstick! Oh my gosh, I need it! I just looked & the closest place is NYC. So either I send my hubby to get it for me while at work, or I order it. Thinking I'll just order it! So now it;s the lipsticks & the BB Cream I need to get. I already got the Enjoy shampoo and conditioner (Luxury) LOVE them! What a HIUGE difference they made in my hair! OK, I'm going to have to send you a message about it because this is getting to long. Enjoy your 4th of July with John & the kids!
I love how you say "Dress to impress your husband". I told my husband about that. And that what I really feel. I only want to impress him not other ;)
Hey Lisa, my husband and I had dated initially when I was 14...nothing serious, obviously...then we lost touch and I dated a bunch of the wrong guys... finally 5 years later we found eachother again..and I knew instantly...b/c of the difference between him and the others...the bad experiences of past relationships really make us instantly appreciate the good in the relationship that is meant to be. I was young but I knew instantly that I chose the correct path! Enjoy every minute! xoxo Sara
I don't quite understand why someone would question your qualifications to give marital advice just because you've been divorced. It's quite obvious you are very happy in your marriage to John now. Just because you've made a previous mistake doesn't mean you are making it again. Love the sandals, I think you have revived my lemming and am itching to get that colour this time around lol.
Hi Lisa, thanks for showing these lipsticks! I ordered one the other day and can't wait to get it!
I'm sitting here shaking my head yes! I SO agree, marriage isn't work when it's right. It just naturally works. Ha, my hubby is 8 yrs older than me and I wouldn't have it any other way. I always said I'm no ones momma, lol.
I always say I'm gonna write a book as well. So I say do it! I just loved listening you, Lisa! I feel like we have a lot in common. :)
Thanks for the advice. I called off my engagement when I was 22 it was hard we had been together for years, unfortunately when we were 24 he passed away. Most of what you said I can relate to...it's been 1 1/2 yrs since he passed and I'm in a good place finally to start looking for mr right.
Thank you so much for all your advice!! The boyfriend and I used your video as a springboard for our chatting last night after he got home and I feel even better and more confident about our relationship and our future together. :)
your daughter is so lucky to have you for a mom!!! i would buy your book. you did not owe us an explanation but in giving us one, really you gave many women/girls some absolutely fabulous advice! i know what you mean about resentful feelings--oddly enough when i was ten years younger(42 now), i didn't really recognize them as such...anyway when the most of the giving/compromising is one sided, it causes a lot of resentment
You call yourself lucky, but you worked so hard on being were you are, so it is not pure luck!
Hope Brooke listens to your advise - when she is a bit older. I wish my mum spoke to me like this! Have a daughter of my own and hope she learns from my mistakes. I will definitely be open with her! And buy your book!
Strange thing - my mum never spoke to me about relationship – when I was dating and getting married. She does now a bit – when I know probably as much as she does anyway.
I wanted to ask how did you know when you were ready for another relationship? How long were you divorced before you decided to try a new relationship? Although you said you told John straight out what you wanted in a relationship, how did you Trust that he was being honest with you when he said he wanted the same. Truth be told...some people will say anything just to get what they want.
Lisa, Just because you have been divorced does not mean that you can not give marriage advice now. It's not like your divorce happened last week. So take the nasty messages with a grain of salt. Your doing a super job as a wife a mother...
Lisa, Thankyou so much for this video, I am 22 and thinking about the future a lot, and what you're saying makes so much sense. Thankyou for sharing your experiences, I am happy you were able to turn your life around so positively after your first marriage. Always looking forward to your videos!
Lisa - I know this is several months old, but I just wanted to say thank you for posting this. I went through a divorce last fall, and was totally devastated. Like you, I fell into a depression and spent many, many months trying to get back to a place where I could just feel "normal" again.

Thanks for watching! xoxo Lisa

Lisa you are so sweet. We can all learn from each others tough life lessons. So kind of you to share your wisdom with others. It's really important info, and some NEVER hear it. xxxxxx

Hi Lisa,
I wanted to ask how did you know when you were ready for another relationship? How long were you divorced before you decided to try a new relationship? Although you said you told John straight out what you wanted in a relationship, how did you Trust that he was being honest with you when he said he wanted the same. Truth be told...some people will say anything just to get what they want.
