  • rendering can also be done by clicking the clip you want to render and pushing command + R. It's way quicker than using the mouse, lol.

  • Great videos! I'm just getting started in Final Cut Express. Do you have a video that shows how to cut frames or cut audio? It doesn't seem as intuitive as Adobe Premiere Elements. Thanks.

  • "We can play PING PONG!", dude, seriously, why didn't I Think Of THAT!!! you cool dude. You helped alot, thank you. :)

  • I can't get the Canvas to render and I'm about to break my laptop, how do I get the clip to render?

  • @Dieselcowman You could go up to sequences and go to "Render All" or "Render Section", and then click "Both" after you clicked on the clip that needs to be rendered. idk, helped me.

  • @Dieselcowman Go up to sequences and push "Render all" or "Render Section" and then click "Both". Helped me out.

  • Thanks for your tutorials they are helpful - One question - is there a way when you split a clip, that the audio can be set at 1/4 second fade in? Or do you actually have to edit the audio, manually add points to the level line, and shape it from no volume to full volume in 1/4 second time frame. One would think this kind of split could be set as a default. Thanks so much

  • @TheDrumChannel hey, I almost always Pen Tool points when I add fade ins, but there is a cross fade audio transition that you could add. You can find that in the Audio Transitions folder in your Browser. For best control I would use the Pen Tool though.

  • wait how do u add itunes music i need heelpppp! its wont stop the beeping!!!! i want it to work and how do u get it 2 uttube from fce?

  • need help with making gun sounds into the video

  • You have helped me so much in all of these videos, thank you so much. =)

  • hey u can do the audio change 1:45 on the timeline instead of getting all fancy with ur stereo window

  • yes you can, but you get a lot more space when working in the viewer, so you get more accuracy and precision

  • right but usually u can neither hear the difference or need to have perfect accuracy and precision beyond what could be done in the timeline

  • o also just sayin the curve is their for a reason so i usually let it be because it sounds better in my opinion

  • it doesn't let me drag the auido

  • can you make a tutorial or message me on my account on how to shorten the music that you have imported in to the clip from itunes please and thanks

  • wow these tutorials are so helpful. Just started using this program today. Have had it for a while but was afraid of it. Now I am zipping along. Thank you sooo much!

  • wow this is cool been trying to figure that out in Imovie but this is better

  • Thanks! This helped!

  • how to you get it to render the sound of your clip. i am planning to buy FCE and i just wanna get a grip on how to use it first

  • Click the headphones to the left of the track.

  • ur voice sounds like ur trying very hard to make it low and deep....and if thats u in the video i can see why

  • what did you press when u you were going to put in the audio? at 3:00?

  • At 3:00 I simply pressed Delete. When I brought the other track in, I just dragged it, nothing special. To add markers you press M

  • AWESOME

  • How do you bring garage band music into final cut express?

  • try passing that file to iTunes and then follow the steps =)

  • export as mp3, drag into itunes, follow steps

  • thank you..... plz right back i forgot to add in my other comment on my other video......

  • This was EXACTLY what I was looking for! Thanks!

  • great fuckin tutorial man.

    thank you.

    -ben

  • Helped me A LOT thank you very much!

  • How do you like, record your voice? It won't let me use the mic thingy. I don't know why. And - how long do things usually take to render?

  • 1, You should be able to configure your mic settings in your screen recorder.

2, it depends on how long the clip is. The audio takes a second to render, but the video takes a while. It usually takes from 10 seconds to a minute.

  • thanks that was a lot of help .

  • Thanks

  • copy and paste with final cut express

  • i have a question i recently taped a wedding and i have noticed yesterday when i was wacthing it that someone started coughing can i use final cut to edit that out of there with final cut express?

  • you can cut it out but fill the gap with some atmospheric sound from another part of your video. copy and paste

  • when you render something... can you still edit the clip???

  • yes unless you add a render-needing effect or transition

  • how do u get an audio clip to be by itself so that you can move it without having a movie clip attached???

  • when i add music to the time line it just goes "beep beep beep" through out the whole music track, what am i doing wrong?

  • Press Command+R, and visit my Rendering tutorial

  • sweet thanks for the help with the audio.

  • thanks looks really cool

  • How do you put in those letters/symbols at the bottom like when you say press m, and every time you press m it says it at the bottom of the screen?

  • I do that within ScreenFlow, and I just clicked "Show Keys Pressed" and "Show Modifier Keys Pressed"

  • When I imported my clips into final cut and dragged it into the timeline there wasnt any audio at all what did I do wrong?

  • double click the clip to lad it into the viewer and play it from there to make sure the clip actually has audio.

  • it didnt have any audio. So do i need to like re-import the video this camer has been used before and had audio when I imported it.

  • Yeah I would say re-import it, but try importing it through iMovieHD, I do that quite a bit and it seems to work just fine

  • what if the video is downloaded and up there, but it doesn't play anything? not even the beeps. how do you fix that?

  • check the audio meters to see if the clip actually has audio. Also double click the click the clip to load it into the viewer to see if the clip has audio. If it plays with audio then just drag the clip from the viewer to the timeline, and then render it out so you here the audio.

  • It's not saying it has any. It's not just that one song cause I tried a couple. Do you know how to fix that?

  • Hmm...i don't know try putting that single clip into a new sequence, then exporting that clip using Quicktime conversion. Then after that's done, try bringing it back in. If that doesn't work, then I assume that the audio must have been lacking on the camera just for the time you were filming it. I don't believe the clip is not working because of Final Cut, so I think it's the camera just for that clip.

  • Actually it's not the audio on the clip that I'm trying to get. It's the music. I've heard that it sometimes doesn't take the music. But this has worked once before, and it's through iTunes and not mp3 format (I think). So... any advice for that?

  • Wait are you trying to import a song into Final Cut of a clip?

  • Ok, I made a video and I have two text titles and then a clip. I want to add a song during the texts and then mute it while the clip is playing (or just shorten the song).

  • Alright, just bring your clip and text layers into the timeline, then put the music track in the timeline, and then grab the blade tool and just blade it where you want the music to stop. If you want to have the music fade in or fade out, you can learn how to do that in this video here. You use the Pen tool to do that, so check it out

  • That was extremely helpful. I just picked up FCE and your screencap software really makes it easy to see what's going on. Great videos.

  • thank you!

  • You should filter out the audio feedback that plagues this video. It would be much more enjoyable without the endless ringing.

  • Yeah on my first couple videos I made it had that. All my new ones should not have that

  • AWESOME!

  • Damn it, how do I separate a clip from its audio? I'm just graduating from iMovie to Final Cut Express, and in iMovie there was an extract audio command. I can't really figure out how to do that here.

  • The easiest way to do it would be to OPTION CLICK on the the audio track. That will select only the audio layer as opposed to selecting both. From there just hit delete. If you have troubles reply back and I will tell you another way of going about doing it

  • Hey - really good tutorial. I don't think I would have done much differently. Keep it up.

  • how do you import music in final cut.

  • To answer your question, I believe the easiest way to do it would be to drag the audio/song that you want to import on to your desktop and then just drag and drop into the browser in Final Cut

  • that doesnt work what else could i do

  • Go into Final Cut and go File-Import-then find the music in your finder and just click on it

  • i try— it says to open with itunes. how do i do that?

  • Mate, I love these tutorials. You're right, there aren't many, and you're excellent at explaining things at a follow-able rate.

    Thanks very much for uploading.
