Just a suggestion but i would either buy lead core rope for ur pots or tie on a 6 ounce banana weight about 10 ft down ur line....that way ur line will sink and it wont get shopped up by a passing boats prop it hapoened to me a few times in my earlier yrs of crabbing for dungeness and ended up losing quite a bit of money in gear....so yeah just a suggestion but otherwise nice work
Good job! I didn't see weights on the line (mayeb it was lead core) but highly suggest adding some. Floating line can easily get caught in someones prop....you'll lose the pot and ruin their day. Can't beat those Danielsons for short soaks.
@crabber59 I don't drink when I drive, so I can honestly blame that poor beet choice on my buddies. Maybe the public humiliation of being caught drinking Bud Light on youtube will persuade them to change their disgraceful ways.
@jdcarnes I would fish for salmon if we had any left. Sadly in California our salmon population has declined 97% since 2002. We are diverting all our fresh water to irrigate farms, and the fish are going, going and soon may be gone forever. It is unclear if we will ever wise-up and take steps help the salmon recover. Once they become a sustainable fishery, I'll be the first one out fishing for 'em, trolling a hoochie with my downriggers and my tiny Valco Westcoaster.
@neversat I want to change my answer! I now realize that Duxbury is place off of Point Reyes (I thought you meant the town in Massachusetts). Ha! I'm such a rookie. No, I probably won't be taking my little boat out there, even though the salmon reports have been great lately. Maybe I'm a wuss, but my boat is pretty small. I am still quite concerned about the future for Salmon in California despite good fishing recently.

@roxydog1000 It's a Valco Westcoaster 172 Widebody with a 50 HP Honda 4-stroke. It's a 17 foot welded aluminum boat with a walk-through windshield. I have a 2 HP Honda kicker in case the bigger engine dies (it never has) and a Minn Kota Riptide ST bow mounted trolling motor. It's not fancy at all, but it's setup well for fishing and I love it.
@jdcarnes Thanks! If conditions are right it can be quite safe, but I would not venture out if conditions weren’t great. I’ve read it can get quite treacherous. There are some great websites for tracking conditions like swellwatch and surfline. We do everything we can to be safe including: wearing life jackets, having a backup engine, VHF radio, buckets for bailing, and 150 feet of anchor rope. We stay humble and have a healthy dose of respect for Mother Nature
BRAVO , BRAVO!!!!! Luv the Go Pro HD angles. You really got some great footage with that camera, (((( AMAZING )))) how such a tiny camera with EXTRA WIDE LENS can make a video much better to watch.
You guys did a great job out there in such nice weather what more can you ask for.

@FishingLuhrs Good advice. Thanks.

@neversat
fro me, easy solution to weigh the lines is to feed 1/2 oz. egg sinkers into the rope every 10 feet. this way, the rope is weighed but not too heavy.

@neversat How safe is it to take a 17ft boat under the gate? Also, I have enjoyed your videos! True sportsman. Thanks for posting.
