I love Tom..... he doesnt mind letting her have the spotlight.... his humility and strength is awesome.... she could overpower the entire stage....... love this <3
The absolute voice of Fleetwood Mac - no-one on earth can match Stevie's lyrics or vocals - together with the uber talented Mr Petty. What more could you want?!
LOVE them! Love this whole era n genre! I grew up hearinin my mom's music which was this kinda stuff, like Fleetwood Mac, Tom Petty n the Heartbreakers n that kinda stuff. I'm sad for our futures children cuz they don't get to experience real music
It's cool that Stevie has been inducted with Fleetwood Mac, but she was brought in for her efforts with the band. Her solo stuff shot her into the stratosphere. Thus, she should be inducted as a solo artist too. Just ask Paul Simon. He was inducted for Simon & Garfunkel, AND as a solo artist. It should be the same for Stevie Nicks.
@TreyLutrash. Tom Petty wrote this song for Stevie Nicks for her first solo album. According to the documentary on The Heartbreakers, the duet idea was conceived by Ionello, the manager when Tom was singing it to Stevie in order to get timing down. It worked out to be a classic.
@zapmail - no it wasn't. This song was written by Tom Petty to be sung by the Heartbreakers but Stevie's then Manager Jimmy Iovine heard it and persuaded Tom that it was a record meant to be sung by a female and suggested it was given to Stevie and Tom agreed it was a great idea and he would sing the chorus. This is documented by Jimmy Iovine.
For those who say the Stevie Nicks' inclusion into the R&R Hall of Fame via Fleetwood Mac is sufficient. No. Stevie was the voice and heart of Fleetwood Mac. She should be listed alone.
I always wondered if this was a song Tom Petty modified for Stevie. Now I can see at 03:40 when she sings "make a meal of some bright eyed girl" ,,,, The 80's version she says "bright eyed kid"
Tom brings it to the point at 5.50: "You never heard this until you hear Stevie sing it. She sings it great." Nothing to add - except Tom's words in the beginning:
"the only one legendary honorary heartbreaker - our little sister, Stevie Nicks".
OMG Can a song get any better? Petty is so nice and loveing makes outstanding work DANM Look at Stevie!!!! She look's SO GOOD Ya know how old she is? ah Old man 4 real!!! they are so good are work so well 2 this is wot i can rock man!!! Ya got the best of the best here,,,Cheek Petty he is so danm sexy love way he puts it

@mic187x2 You know what happens to shit..It gets step on,then it gets scraped off,and it dries up in the sun and blows away........that whats happens to shit like you...In defense of our beloved goddess little Stevie
For me, Stevie Nicks is the Goddess of Rock. No one else will or can take her place. I grew up hearing Stevie. She was probably one of the first voices I knew as a singer thanks to my mom, who is a huge fan as well.
I saw this show in Indian Wells, Cal!!!!! Front row! Was amazing! Stevie is the most beautiful woman on earth! Just hope to meet her face to face some day.
not only did she cut all my patches off my jeans she had the nerve to take all my stevie nicks albums. lol first time ever stevie nicks was involved in a divorce settlement. godbless.
I am so honored and blessed to have been brought up at the time these artists were just hitting their strides and made such an indelible impression on the entire world of ROCK AND ROLL as well as those of us teenagers who were affected by thier music! Love Stevie, wish I could go back to 75 when I first saw her and well, just dream a little!
i freakin love this song i was born in 1984 but my dad an mom played the hec out of this kind of music so i grew up listing tp soft rock and oldies lol but this is one of my faves from tom petty and stevie nicks as a matter of fact my boyfreind just baught me stevie nicks new album in your dreams for mothers day and i loved that gift :) this music never dies
Man i was born in the wrong time frame, i drive a 1971 ford f100, and play this driving down the road, LOOK ALL YOU WANT , I KNOW MUSIC DAMN IT! (>_<) Im an Old soul baby!
Ahhh, "Stop Draggin' My Heart Around"... I fell in love with this most in-cre-di-ble song back in 1982 or '83. Made me a fan of Tom Petty. Stevie of Fleetwood Mac fame was already in my shortlist. They complement each other so perfectly in this tune, a marriage in heaven!
I've always loved her voice..its just unique and so addictive...but I actually love her voice as it is now...a little lower but oh so powerful and emotive. Just a great talent...up there with anyone you could name...Tom's not so far behind either....together its just magic.
So it isn't just me who is disappointed by 'today's music'...I hear some of that stuff piped over the PA system in Stop & Shop and I just want to slit my wrists!
@zapmail She was inducted in 1998 with fellow members of Fleetwood Mac including: Mick Fleetwood, John McVie, Christine McVie, Lindsey Buckingham, Peter Green, Jeremy Spencer and Danny Kirwan
I discovered Stevie Nicks before I really discovered Fleetwood Mac. 'Rock A Little' was the album. Even with tragic 80's production & big hair she got my attention with "I can't wait", but it was her singing "You can talk to me" that made me walk into a record store and buy it without hesitation. Someone else wrote the song, but the way she sang it... By the time I had gotten to "Has Anyone Ever Written Anything for You?", she had completely stolen my heart away. Enchanted forever by Stevie. <3
That chord at 3:21 just lauches the song into another stratosphere. Takes me back to eating pot brownies on the school bus in the early morning listening to this masterpiece. :)
These are two of my favorite artists of all time~! It only proves what I've always said that you're never too old for rock and roll~~~ I love me some Tom Petty and Miss Stevie Nicks, solo and duets! . I wish them both the best wherever they are. ( Stevie still lives on her ranch in Arizona with some of her family. Tom Petty is still recording music and touring. ) Keep on rockin, baby!!!
Thank you MrDunk... Stevie has more passion than any artist on the planet. It's her life... she loves it more than any of us do, and that makes the difference.Long her life shall be... and me right there to enjoy it with her. Rock ON Stevie!!
If we put Tom Petty and Stevie Nicks on one side of a stage, and Bieber or Rihanna on the other side. TP and SN will wipe the floor with them. Then people may realise that the manufactured noise of today is bullshit.
@rockadio1992 I wish that were true, but I am afraid that the "tweens" would pick the other side. People will be listening to Stevie and Tom and the Beatles and the Stones and Steely Dan , etc. for a long, long time after Miley Cyrus and Justin Bieber have been forgotten. But it will be the 5% or so who can tell the difference between the real music and the trivial.
All I know is both these musicians rocked my world as as child and f%@k do they sound awesome together. Love to see them play together in Toronto. CSN and Petty was a show but add Stevie to the picture and some of my past would be revived in an epic night of musical madness. Thanks for posting
Incredible- Nicks is in great voice, and sexy as hell. One thing nice about rock stardom is all the cool guitars you can afford- which they richly deserve.
Petty and Campbell were so into it they didn't even bother to change guitars between numbers- alert the media!
Oh my what can I say my two favorite people in the world doing my fav songs they ever did together, surely my dream concert! ♥ Thanks for this post you just made my night! ♥ I dedicate these to my old love Art! ♥ If you're makin me wait & you're leadin me on........ I need to know!!!!!! LOL~ ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥
Yep, she's still got it after all these years...lol! (Too bad Tom and Stevie never became romantically involved with one another, since they have such great chemistry together. Wouldn't they have made a cute couple?)
I'm not into this kinda music but I just couldn't turn it off.
Musical talent, unlike those crappy artists of today, I mean there are a few talented artists left but they don't have the passion that you see when people like Stevie Nicks and Tom Petty perform.
@MrDunkJunk why do people always fucking bitch about "today's shitty music", you just can't tell what is worth a fuck and what isn't, try using more drugs. music of all generations is awesome.
@MrDunkJunk I know what you mean. I wasn't normally into "this" kind of music... my 80's music collection was organized into categories... Rock, Blues, Alternative (quite large), Pop, and in a category all of her own... Stevie Nicks. Truly, I didn't know where to put her... "Rock"? Not really... She certainly didn't fit with my taste for "Alternative" music... "Pop"? She was just too good to be tossed in with the crap I had in "Pop"... So, she got her own category. :P

Incredible- Nicks is in great voice, and sexy as hell. One thing nice about rock stardom is all the cool guitars you can afford- which they richly deserve.
Petty and Campbell were so into it they didn't even bother to change guitars between numbers- alert the media!

Yep, she's still got it after all these years...lol! (Too bad Tom and Stevie never became romantically involved with one another, since they have such great chemistry together. Wouldn't they have made a cute couple?)

Stevie Nicks & Tom Petty, two musical legends.

@jenetik0 People always bitch about today's shitty music because todays music sucks.
That you can't accept it is your problem.
It's a fact you know and a lot of people seem to agree with me..
