Dude, first of all, you are no "soul music" aficionado. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and we know what opinions are like. If that is you singing on the video on your page, stick to your day gig!!
The best thing God created in people was the art of expressing oneself bot man and women! If you don't hear this man's gift to blow this song away then something is truly wrong here!
Thinking back to the early seventies and the first time I got out of juvinile hall for driving other peoples cars, I jumped on a SF Muni to go home and from the back of the bus I heard "Tower of Power's" Back on the Streets again. I was tripping how fitting it was. That was the first time I got Funkifized. A year or two later a good friend of mine intro me to the band. They welcome Fans like family. I seen them recently and they are still the tightest horn section in the world. What a Party!

Sorry, but nobody has EVER, before or after, touched the magic & funk of lead vocalist Lenny Williams.....period! No arguments, hands down....don't care what you say....he WAS Tower of Power.
@Soca2Lakai How about this DUMB ASS....YOU really (not "rele", you moron) need to learn to SPELLbefore you try having any intelligent thing to say. Go interview 1,000 TRUE Tower of Power fans, that have followed their entire career (I'm 51, so I HAVE), and you will get a MINIMUM of 90% of the people who confirm that Lenny Williams was THE voice of T.O.P. Now go bury your head in that 3rd grade spelling book & LMTFA!
@ondabayou11 hmmmm ok if ur 51 then why are u flipping out like a 5 yr old ik to u lenny was god and im not gonna say anything against tht but still brent is the shit i mean just listen to this hes a great singer and u cant deny tht so just calm down its music man theres no need to fight over it cant we just sit bck and love the music?? thts the main reason of music its a spiriutal thing so im done with this argument enjoy t.o.p for the rest of ur days man:)
to me Brent Carter was their best singer. No other singer iver heard with them could light up a song like him. They've had alot of really exceptional singers, but just the way Brent sang a song brought so much more to it.
Mic Gillette re-joined the band last year. The original trumpet, flugelhorn and trombone player. 5 originals currently with the band. Iron Mike will be missed but Mic is Tower Of Power!!!!
i'm 26 years i was a baby when i can first remember my dad blastin this on vinyl and it still gives me goosebumps and reaches my heart everytime. if and when i have children they will be willing to learn too :) i love you guys stay up and i will continue to support and pass on this magic we call tower of power-Goodtimes King
I saw Brent with TOP and he's my favorite after Lenny.... He made you wanna get dressed and go see the band. This new guys needs to lose the glasses...
The horn solo is beautiful on this. They hit their official 40th anniversary 10/13/08. You can't say that about many acts these days! Four of the 10 members are originals.
I agree with EricMiller. Although Brent Carter is a gifted singer, he's definitely NOT for T.O.P. Lenny Williams had range and unparalleled soul that current-frontman Larry Braggs comes close to attaining. Speaking of LB, he actually has a version that I've not seen on YouTube yet that's pretty good.
@chynadoll1302 Only a couple of people here on YouTube understand that it is not about a better singer, but about the performance and Brent is giving all he has! Cheers CubsRule06.
