I get 43 mph outa my first gear, 01 CVPI. And mine does that weird lag into second aswell, somtimes... think its just a ford thing my dads f150 with the 4.6l does too and my expedition did it to with the 5.4l. I've read its pre torque converter lock-in... duno if its true or not, but sounds good, lol.
I'm not sure why it hesitates right after the 1-2 shift. It does it consistently every time and only at WOT. I think it may be something with the PCM programming or the transmission is doing doing something because the motor runs fine, no misses, no issues at all. This is the third CVPI I've had but the first that has throttle by wire and I can say I preferred my '03 CVPI over this '07 from a performance standpoint. If I want fast I drive my C63 AMG as this is a daily driver only.
the reason that these newer model crown vic PI's are about .5 slower to 60 is because ford revamped the trannies and made the first gear numerically lower (higher), which is why there is a lot of bottoming, not that good of a strong launch, but above 4200 rpm and 60 mph these babies shine
@640101vh If you launch rght, you can get from 0-60 in 8.8 seconds in one of these, and they have not gotten that much slower......only about .5 seconds, but if you launch em' right 8.8 seconds to 60 can be achieved which is OK considering your average law breaker is in some 4 cyl POS or a big heavy SUV or something, but seriously ford would rather high top speed then 0-60 time, which is why they seem to have gotten slower, but the expedition is faster than this, they go from 0-60 in 7.6 seconds
I know these cars appear slow in videos, but when actually driving one it is a lot quicker. You have to love that notorious Crown Vic whine on acceleration.
My 98 crown vic thats an old police interceptor has 365000 miles on it in my vid and its still faster than this, somethings wrong bro check my vids... I like yours just thought it would be faster lol

@kendrickevans301 The 11's are in the low to mid 9 second range from the info I read (MSP yearly test), each year they have got slower and slower.

airwaves1222 4 months ago
@airwaves1222 4.10.1 gear ratio in 2008 was not an option, so you must have put that in yourself or you are wrong
kendrickevans301 2 months ago
@airwaves1222 they only had a 3.55.1 or a 3.27.1 after 2006
kendrickevans301 2 months ago
8.5 seconds
chpman2013 8 months ago
only a 3:27 rearend in that one? 3:55 or a exchanged 3:73 is quicker yet
jimP71 8 months ago
@jimP71 is quicker from 0-60, but when you want top speed you get a low numerically (higher) gear ratio
