  • Listen to the incredible honky tonk piano in the background. That's what makes this version so sweet.

  • is he below the sydney harbour bridge?

  • I was in Freeport , Texas in ..hell itI was to say 66 or 67...and I had a little plastic battery operated album player.. and my Brother was with me...(RIP Jim)...and I thought this was a great "Torch Song"...and I still do when I break up and worry that she will never come back to ....her Dragon...

  • In My opinion this is the Best Version of this song. Ricky was one heck of a singer.

  • I had forgotten that Ricky Nelson had recorded this great old song. He really had a nice voice. I think that he was very under-rated. I just posted my cover of the Eddy Arnold version of this song. Stop by and check it out sometime.

  • @terrisonb

I certainly agree that Ricky was underrated, he could sing anything from Rock n' Roll, to Country, to Pop He had the looks, the hair, and what a musical pedigree of Ozzie and Harriet., he's up there with Elvis in a lot of ways. You do a nice job on the songs you sing on your channel, without impersonation.

  • @barrygioportmorien1 Thank you Barry for stopping by my channel and for taking the time to leave some very kind comments. I hope you will visit again sometime.

  • Never knew he sang this-thanks!

  • barry.... does Rick have an album LP and/or a CD with all these country songs on it.?

  • @bon1042

Yes, I have been told that the double CD is available. I had the double album, (vinyl)

I down loaded the songs I wanted, and gave the album away.

  • I'm new to this board and I do not understand all the "This version is better than this version crap". It's ridiculous! There are lots of good versions of this song and 99.99% we will never hear, because they are being played in people's bedrooms, etc.

  • @cooltooth112 well said !!

  • Ray Charles does a great cover on this. You can almost hear him singing it. they would have made a great duet on it.

  • his voice gives me shivers :)

  • Never heard this before- Thanks for the post.

  • No- we did not know the real Rick Nelson...

He had so much sorrow in him!

    Sad!

  • never head this song...it should have been included in his greatest hits! but gee, there are so many!!!

  • This is nice but it cannot touch Gilley's version.

  • Great Song

  • Nice rendition, however, Mickey Gilley's and Jerry Vale's still would hold.

  • This song is great by Ricky. It's been recorded by so many artists and I, too, prefer Ricky's version. Elvis has done this song, too. It seems that whenever I love a song, especially country, I can look up either Elvis or George Jones and they've done it. Ricky has one of the smoothest voices ever, and I am so thankful that we can enjoy his fine talent here.He was so handsome, too. Thank you for posting. - Paula

  • This is one of the best songs written and Rick Nelson does it as well as anyone else's version.

  • I loved his songs years ago but I didn't know he had covered so many other songs ..... Beautifully .... one of the great singers

  • a Ray Charles number, very well done here by Ricky Nelson

  • The late Eddy Arnold also covered this.

  • Didn't know Ricky did this song but it's amazingly great - just like everything he did.

  • thanks for post..........

    amazing, love him sooooooooooo.........

  • this country version of ricks is a lot softer than the more soulful ray charles, just a gerat song all round
