"We also sent Lut : He said to his people : "Do ye commit lewdness such as no people in creation (ever) committed before you? For ye practice your lusts on men in preference to women: ye are indeed a people transgressing beyond bounds." Qur'an 7:80-81

As a straight person, I am positively mortified by the ignorant comments repeatedly made on these comment pages by straights. Why do these people not recognize themselves in history ? You are NO different from jew baiters and negro bashers of the past (and present). You are the people who beat those who tried to sit at 'whites only' lunch counters. NO different ! Ignorant, ignorant, ignorant fools. Wake up. Your type is absolutely being left behind, and good frigging riddance.
Anita Bryant did the right thing - and paid the price.
She was demonized (as in the movie, 'MILK'), called names and had pies thrown against her. All of this, of course, was done by people who are always talking about 'tolerance.'
Anita Bryant did what was 'politically incorrect' - and what is 'political incorrectness?'
Simple; anything that the left finds offensive - and if the left is offended, they will try to destroy you...all in the name of 'tolerance.'
I really think that if the gay community needs wider acceptance they must stop this gay pride thing. Psychologically it just alienates themselves from society and it sometimes comes across as arrogance. They must realize that the homosexual lifestyle was not generally considered norm and a sudden change is quite hard for a lit of people to accept. They will come around. Give them time and explain it to them without accusing them of homophobia. Peace.
i really dont hate gays or despise them the way other people do. because some of them are very respectful of others, they know how to function in society and stay on their side of the sexual fence. and i respect those gays. but then you those flaming perverted gays who try to cross sexual boundries and have sex with hetrosexuals who have absolutly no intrest in being corrupted by that type perversion. and thats the royal fuck up there bud! thats were the lines where drawn in whyoming.
@tauras88d oh, ok... I get it. You're offering a short seminar on "morals"... and your morals seem to be that it's ok to stab and crucify someone should they make at pass at you. Naturally this only applies to same-sex sexual passes. ... imagine if women had the right to murder men who make unwanted advances on them. In short, you have justified the murder and torture of innocent human beings (we all got the Wyoming reference) You have no credibility in my universe or that of any decent people
@tauras88d yes and heterosexuals don't consist of a preverted population, lets not forget the macho heterosexual men (who cross the boundry) that rape women that say "no" the first time. Heterosexual flaws equally exsist.
Yeah I think there's still oppression in smaller waves than others, we still have racial hatred and bigotry but it has crawled into it's much needed corner but still needs fighting.
However gay rights takes it from all sides (no pun intended) and there is still much more to do to stop people's demonizing it. Im hetero but this is America....people should wake the F up.
Who cares of one's sexual gender or preference? Opponents of gay rights miss the point that America is and always shall be the home of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness....period.
My gal and I enjoyed Sean's acting very much, some scenes made me writhe in my chair (haha) but that's just me....no big deal.
I'm 35 and was pushed out of the closet so to speak at 24. I think what made it a little easier for me was that neither of my parents or family were religious, we never wen't to church. I am still amazed at how much homophobia there still is. On u-tube for example almost every gay orientated video or subject is greeted by a slew of homophoebic comments, really nasty ones. From the usual Fag comment to bible people quoating Leviticus 18:22 you name it.
@poodtang1 neither your parents were religious or went to church? Maybe that's part of the problem right there. Some of us that you label homophobs are not that at all. We're not scared of homos as the word implies we just don't respect c********s. So the word homophob isn't completely accurate in most cases-anti-faggot would be a better choice.
Well done!!! I thoroughly enjoyed this little presentation!
Just saw MILK at the Castro theater tonight, and I wanted to find out a little bit more about Mr. Milk and the historical background, and I landed here.
By the way, I know one of the individuals you interviewed. San Francisco truly is a small town :)
No, MackDaddy, gay pride marches are important. We were forced to hide who we are for decades (centuries?), but never again. Gay kids have to see us celebrate to see that they're not alone. If you don't like to see us hold hands or kiss in public, then just turn your head.
Yeah, because an respectful and mutual relationship between two people is just like one between a lesser being like an animal or a completely inanimate object like a corpse. There's no way it could be a bond of love. I totally see your point 'Daddy'.
Anyways; wonderful video! Thank you for uploading it. I just found out about MILK today, so it was very informational and junk. I really hope the movie will open the eyes of not just closeted men and women, but the eyes of straights as well.
I just cant see why you need to attempt to destroy that love and acceptance. This is just life we are just people i dont see the need to hate because everyone is different, i dont discriminate against a person who has a beard or a person who is left handed or has brown eyes why do we have to hate on people who are gay?
how can you insult a man who has worked his entire life to only help other people, regarless there sexuality. harvey milk was an amazing man who died so that thousand upon thousands of people wouldn't be discriminated againt and have simple rights that someone says they can take away just because they like the opposite sex or are white or male.
I'm very thankful to Milk the movie for teaching me so much about the life of Harvey Milk and his profound impact to the gay liberation revolution. And what Cleve Jones said at around 8:00 was startlingly prophetic given that this video was shot before the CA Supreme Court's ruling, Prop 8 and the November protests.
well, everyone is entitled to their opinion, but why is it that people feel they can insult people facelessly via youtube? The meanness on youtube is staggering. if you have nothing worthwhile to say, than don't write anything. I am happy Sean Penn picked this role, he is talented and puts a lot of energy in his roles.
é muito triste ver a forma como a mídia transfosmou os gays em mercado, se fossemos uma minoria pobre (como negros e índios)quem estaria agora lutando pelos nossos direitos?
esse senso de familiaridade deve ser resgatado como disse o companheiro acima!
All the gayborhoods in North America are losing or have lost their community and spirit. Gay people either feel a false sense of security or are going deeper in the closet. I think the internet is partly to blame. It's truly sad.
I think its great the further in the closet they go the better. That is where you do evil things in the dark closets. So go there and shut up about your gayness. It is wrong and one of these days you will see why!
I wish I could've attended.

How does denying a group of people the right to marry protects marriage, exactly??
And, conversely, how does granting a group of people the right to marry stops everyone else from getting married as well??
