Anita Bryant did the right thing - and paid the price.

She was demonized (as in the movie, 'MILK'), called names and had pies thrown against her. All of this, of course, was done by people who are always talking about 'tolerance.'

Anita Bryant did what was 'politically incorrect' - and what is 'political incorrectness?'

Simple; anything that the left finds offensive - and if the left is offended, they will try to destroy you...all in the name of 'tolerance.'

I really think that if the gay community needs wider acceptance they must stop this gay pride thing. Psychologically it just alienates themselves from society and it sometimes comes across as arrogance. They must realize that the homosexual lifestyle was not generally considered norm and a sudden change is quite hard for a lit of people to accept. They will come around. Give them time and explain it to them without accusing them of homophobia. Peace.

Yeah I think there's still oppression in smaller waves than others, we still have racial hatred and bigotry but it has crawled into it's much needed corner but still needs fighting.

However gay rights takes it from all sides (no pun intended) and there is still much more to do to stop people's demonizing it. Im hetero but this is America....people should wake the F up.

I'm 35 and was pushed out of the closet so to speak at 24. I think what made it a little easier for me was that neither of my parents or family were religious, we never wen't to church. I am still amazed at how much homophobia there still is. On u-tube for example almost every gay orientated video or subject is greeted by a slew of homophoebic comments, really nasty ones. From the usual Fag comment to bible people quoating Leviticus 18:22 you name it.

No, MackDaddy, gay pride marches are important. We were forced to hide who we are for decades (centuries?), but never again. Gay kids have to see us celebrate to see that they're not alone. If you don't like to see us hold hands or kiss in public, then just turn your head.

I'm very thankful to Milk the movie for teaching me so much about the life of Harvey Milk and his profound impact to the gay liberation revolution. And what Cleve Jones said at around 8:00 was startlingly prophetic given that this video was shot before the CA Supreme Court's ruling, Prop 8 and the November protests.
