  • Seriously, NOBODY here knows for sure what the restaurant owners motives may have been. Maybe it was a mistake maybe it wasn't, but NOBODY here knows for sure. Only haters are yapping their traps here, and for what? what do you ppl think arguing about something so petty is gonna fix? I'm Mexican /American and believe that MAYBE he just was used to doing it the other way around. If he lived on a border town the Mexican side would be the opposite. All you ppl just quick to hate. >:(

  • fucking spicks

  • i do not disagree with you. as I said in the video, if they store owners intent was to insult the US, then basically he's a dick. But that may not have been his intent. Did the redneck with the knife him ASK the store owner what he meant before he committed the armed robbery? And, even if the store owener inteded it as an insult, does that abslove the armed robbery?

I do understand the emotion here. I get it; but a little talking, and some neighborly behavor by all was called for here.

  • @dfarmer1584 Oh horse shit. You know instinctively that putting the Mexican flag on top is an insult, and intended as such. What a bunch of excuse making bloviation.

  • but it is still disrespectful and the ppl who did it knew that what they were doing was wrong you may not get arrested but its still wrong and very very direspectful.

  • thanks man you are the first person I ´ve heard consistently, you´re follow the law, most of the people follow emotions., By the way the Bussines´s owner is an American Citizen , the main point is there no dialogue from the paranoic patriots.

  • wow this guy has no clue..im pretty sure back in the day they wouldnt have thought a new immigrant will ever disrespect this country so much that they didnt make it criminal. when i lived in korea i respected the people and thier culture. I also learned the language to be able to meet people and assimulate to thier ways. so why is it so hard to do the same for me. come to my country and respect me and my culture. If i moved to mexico i would learn spanish and some othe their ways to respect them

  • It may not be criminal, but the flag should at least be taken down.

  • The problem with the flying of the Mexican flag or any flag not representing the nation a person has chosen for their homeland should be obvious.

I might somewhat understand if Mexican Americans wanted to show their heritage with the Mexican flag UNDERNEATH the USA flag but to have it in a place above the flag of a persons adopted homeland is just wrong.

It is not illegal but reprehensible and should not be done. You chose to be Americans and should honor your new country first and foremost.

  • you have no clue man... suit up and go to war for this country... you wouldnt last a day

  • @Phizzle99GST The people who go to war for this country do appreciate the laws and customs of this great nation. Maybe if we forced illegals to fight our wars they would appreciate the meaning of being an American. If they came back from the war they could then be official Americans. That is my idea of amnesty.

I bet these beaners don't raise a Mexican flag again. Mexican Revolution or stay the fuck out of America.

  • that was verry well put

  • Yes it is illegal. The US Flag has to be above at all times. They could have just used 2 staffs and had one flag on each, but of equal size and height. So it is completely wrong and disrespectful, unless done by the correct ceremonial manner it should be done in.

  • YES!! It is illegal, as well as very disrespectful.

  • they should save the money used to manufacture the flag in the first place, and attempt to aid the 90% poverty in the countires heart. Why be proud of miles and miles of toolshed housing? why be proud of unclean, dirty tradition? why be proud of graduating to a 3rd world status in the 21st century? subtract the drug trade from mexico, and you are left with no industry, no economy, no government to speak of, no money.

  • @whiteman4u1 Bravo!!!

  • Comment removed

  • Well said. Thanks for spelling out clearly and objectively.

  • first of all I appreciate the way you took that incident and formed it into a learning experience. I understand what that man did I know that if the american flag was above the mexican flag in mexico it would have caused the same outrage. I'm glad that the future generations both american and mexican are learning to be more logical and civil. Thank you

  • Very appreciated. Thanks for the explanation about the rules and laws.

  • Excellently done. Very informative and logical. Yes, we live in a society of set rules and laws all with little sub paragraphs meant for such occasions. However when we decide to start acting out like a bunch of animals without even attemping to be somewhat civil then all is geninuely lost. Thank you for taking the time and effort to explain the difference of unlawful and illegal, hopefully your message will be heard and understood by the common....redneck.

  • hahahaha=)

  • I'm familiar with the Nevada incident, and I can tell you that I would have done the exact same thing my fellow Army veteran did in that instance, crime or not. I don't think he was prosecuted, but I agree that his conduct was unlawful. Again, thank you for putting out this information in a dispassionate and objective manner, (LOL, and here I am, reacting emotionally...) This is a very touchy subject, and one's response depends on their experiences, I think...Thank You!

  • Yes, it is, and I agree with your assertion about the misconceptions that surround this subject. I am an Army veteran, and I have some knowledge of the Flag Code. Your facts are right. If violating these codifications were truly a crime, anybody wearing the Flag anywhere on their clothing would be arrested and go to jail. But I'll tell you that the Mexican flag will NEVER fly above the American Flag if I have anything to say about it. I'm also a HUGE Obama supporter, BTW. Thanks for this video!

  • "But I'll tell you that the Mexican flag will NEVER fly above the American Flag if I have anything to say about it"

Because Mexico is "inferior" to America?

  • Negative, bud! I have Mexican blood running through my veins, because my father is Mexican, so I don't go for that kind of racist nonsense. In the United States, it is against custom and tradition, (not to mention unlawful), to fly any flag higher than, or above the American Flag. The American Flag dips to foreign flag or potentate, and that's the way it is. I should have worded my statement a little bit more precisely. I respect Mexico, but my allegiance is to the United States, my Country.

  • well said!

  • Mr traitorx I agree it is a big disrespect to america to fly another flag..and I for one look at it as a flag on the moon like this is ours were here....what you gonna do about it

  • Fair enough, it was your just wording that got me thinking.

  • I meant to write "The American Flag dips to NO foreign flag or potentate", chief. Even though the Mexican store owner probably did what he did out of ignorance and without intent to offend, I still think what he did shows disrespect to the U.S., and that's the attitude that offends me, and that offends a lot of other people. In order to demand respect you have to be willing to give it in return, and that doesn't seem to be the case with a lot of the people that enter this Country nowadays.

  • Again with that weak ass mantra "america is mad up of immigrants". I thought that just maybe you would have enough brains to think up something more clever. You are right with your depiction of the LAW, but, I personally do not appriciate your opinion. Ignorance of the LAW is NO excuse. I am dealing with the same thing here, but I am attempting to do it through the legal system as well as through communication.

  • very good video and possibly the only educated approach i've seen regarding this highly emotional incident. as i have noted, the only law broken was by the crazy vet. poor guy. he thought he did the right thing. and probably the bar owner thought he did too.

  • Very informative and well presented critic of this flag removal situation. I've watched a couple of others and not one of them address the situation from a lawful or traditional view point. I learned something and I hope others will watch your video and learn something as well.

  • yawn, what a bullshit vid

  • your in america, you mother fuckers, the only flag that is suppose to be here is the american one.

fucking spics trying to bring their shit here. they need to get their asses out of here.

  • You're simply an ignorant little boy. Sadly, you'll probably grow up to be a pathetic, ignorant, so-called "man."

Open your mind, angry little boy, before it is too late. All of that hate you carry is unhealthy.

Perhaps it would be easier for you to just skip it all. You know? Why bother with hate and anger. To be, or not to be? That is a question you should consider. Go explore the "other side" right now! And leave us "spics" and "spic lovers" here in this dirty world.

  • you are an ass liberal i can't believe that you live here and you hate america if you don't like america then go to mexico

  • As a mexican I havo only one thing to say:SHUT UP!! You can have a flag of whichever country wherever because every in single democratic country can that can be done because in verey democracy you are free to do it!!!

Yea I know that a bunch of us get in your land, who cares!? Is a free world & every men is equal!

The south of the US used to be a part of mexico, and bothe countries parth of indian nations.

    Life to freedom!/Viva la libertad!

  • indietrevor, you are a fucking idiot! The US is a democracy that is made up of people from many countries (from all over Europe, Asia, North & South America, etc). Everybody is free to display the flag that stands for his or her country as long as they don't display it above the national flag--displaying it above would not only be unlawful, but disrespectful. But if you want to destroy democracy and enforce only your flag to be displayed, then fuck off and move to a fascist state!

  • boy indietrevor, you are one pissed off mormon. ignorant yes, that's expected. easy there tiger. no need for so much hate. i know you hear mommy and daddy talk about " those god awful spanish folks" all the time and since you want to please them and your "god" you choose to spout off like that. am i right on so far? well, could it be ,timmy that the real reason for your anger is that your father molested you as a child? please don't hold that in. it doesn't help. i will pray for you , timmy

  • Thanks for your kind words. I hope that you can get what you want from the U.S. It is was good of you to come here.

I hope to visit Ecuador someday.

  • ALL government offices display gold-fringed military flags or 3x5 army flags because they are all vessels of the UNITED STATES Corporation. ask yourself why the traffic court you goto to pay a speeding ticket is flying a military flag?

You can't even buy a Title 4 Flag at WAL-MART, only the 3x5 proportion military flags.

  • title 4 flag says you're SCHWAG

  • well thankyou for that thoguh it might be unlawful but its not illegal thats 2 diffrent things and the reason i say that is becase to me illegal is something you do thats not right that will get you jail time

  • Hey Dfarmer, Also I like your video quality...It looks old school !!!

  • Dfarmer... Great way of speech. You're one of a kind!!!

I will love to see more people like you... But unfortunated we have nothing else then bunch of stupid racists and morons!!!

  • Thanks Man! Finally! A smart respectful American! You are awesome! and You have a good head! Thanks Bro! you and I should get together sometime and Educate the Americans! Thanks Again Bro!

  • Interesting stuff. Thanks.

  • You give us these laws, but prior court cases would be better quoted, as they interpret the laws.

    Sergeant of Marines

  • Could the quality of this video be any shittier?

  • It is unlawful, therefore it is againt the law.Clear enough?

  • Ok, thats federal law... Now, what about State and City laws/ordnances... Did we forget about those?

    Sergeant of Marines

  • ROFL....Watching the D.D. lectures ..thanks for the effort in posting them...keep up the good work. You were very interesting to listen to.

  • Come on man is this mexico or america we're living in ? general patton would turn in his grave if he saw mexican flag flying over american flag, old gut and glory would turn in his grave.

  • okay lets see if you could live with seeing mexican flag flying over american flag every fuckin day of your life,in every fucking small town america,in every fucking city,in every fucking spermarket, why don't we fly mexican flag along with our flag on the apolo mission to space bitch ? why don;t we do that ? might as well pledge allegiance to mexican flag and the american flag every fucking day as well.

  • Excellent presentation of the facts. Thanks for making this video.

  • Thank you very much Johnny. Your kind words mean a lot. And your subscription! Well, I am truly honored!

  • Thanks.

  • seems to me that it's a point of emotion is that flying 2 national flags on the same pole some may infer that the owners sympathies may lie more with whichever nations flag was run up the flagpole first.

  • I think you're right. And, although I strongly disagree with the actions of the guy who cut down the flag, I DO understand his motivation.

I just can't help thinking that their was more to his thinking than concern for the honor of the flag. For example, if a family of immigrant Aussies had flown the Australian flag exactly the same way as the Mexican immigrants did here, do you think this guy would have blown his top? HMMMMMM, I don't know.

  • yes i see your point there as well dfarmer. and i say your probably right on that point. :)

  • @dfarmer1584 spoken like a young child

let me elaborate on his behalf, i am a proud soldier of the United States Army. Do you understand what it means to place your flag on top of something? it means "conquered" "owned" when the flag is placed on top. It would be much diffrent if the store owner were flying the Mexican flag alone, thats fine but by placing it on top of the United States flag it means "conquered". putting the American flag up in this country is a sign of respect and patriotism

  • @nodmessenger and you do not have to put the American flag up if you do not wish, you can even put any flag you want up but putting it on top of the American flag is serious disrespect to the Men and Women the the Armed services who fought and died for this country. Now the store owner the signal he sent out but in conclusion what it actually said by doing that was " Fuck you America, Mexico stand on top" its desecrating Our flag.

  • 36 US Code, Sec 175, 176

  • Very interesting.

I looked up these code sections, and it seems that some of it is EXACTLY duplicate of other codes. US code title 36 chapter 10 sec 175, which you cite, for example, is exactly the same as US code title 4 chapter 1 section 7(g), which I cited in the video.

Law is very confusing and complicated. But, anyway, the point is is that violations of Flag Laws are not criminal acts.

  • how informative. Thanks!! ha. armed robbery. It would awesome if he were charged with that. Could imagine caring about the order of flags on a pole?? Getting so angry you pulled out a knife and cut it down. oh my.

  • Ehhh, I would be extremely surprised if he were charged with anything--let alone armed robbery--but armed robbery IS the crime he committed.

I can understand people becoming emotional about the flag; it's not rational, but I do understand. However, brandishing a knife etc., is CLEARLY crossing the line. Further, do you think billybob would have been so irate if it were a Union Jack flown above the US flag? I could be wrong, but I suspect some "brown hating" was also involved here.

  • Well done. Excellent explanation -- particularly noting the significant distinction between 'illegal' and 'unlawful'.

  • Thank you ProfMTH. I value your opinion very much, and I am honored by the "well done."

  • I sound too much like a teacher when I say that. I've got a figure out another way to express approval. lol

  • Not at all! A "well done" from you actually MEANS a lot to me!--and others as well I expect.

  • Awesome response!!!! Thank You!!!!

  • Your welcome!!! Thanks for the enthusiastic comment!!!!

  • The guy with the knife would probably hold such things as dialog in disdain.

  • I think your right. He didn't seem to be in a mood to calmly discuss cumstoms. Sad really.

  • Well done.

  • Thanks friend

  • Thanks for clarifying.

  • no probs! Thanks for watching!

  • thanks for the clarification of the legal aspects

  • Your welcome ;)

  • Agreed; though having a law on the books at all regarding how to handle the flag seems to me to be a step in the direction of making it illegal to inappropriately handle the flag. Which would just piss me off to no end, I love America and the flag so much because of the freedom it represents (and the freedom to burn it and piss on it, if I had the inclination... not that I do).

  • My only worry is that nationalistic zealots would try to use these laws incorrectly; and at times, that seems like a real danger. However, the First Amendment would clearly trump any flag law if a challenge were ever brought in appellate courts. I don't think we need to worry. ;)

I feel exactly the same way as you about love of country and freedom, AND that that means!
