Eastern Persia started becoming turkic since early 7th century even before Arab invasion. Turkic influx culminated 11 century after Arabic Khilafa weakened and Persian Samanids conceded to Turkic empires in the region. Since then new ethnic identity had emerged with farsi-turki genes mixture as a bilingual urban group. Soviets divided this group into two - Uzbeks & Tajiks.

well, anthony198. Don't boast in this way. Iranian-azeri live in samarqand and farsi-iranians live in Bukhara. But Uzbeks and Tajiks come from Sogdians, khorezmians, Parphians and in the south - Bakhtrians. they had already high developed culture, traditions and lifestyle. Later Turks imposed their languages, Mongolians - genes, Arabs - religion.. So, calm down. Btw, modern Uzbekistan used to be a part of ancient Persia.
